Week 11 NFL Picks: Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers
Date: Monday, November 19th, 4:05 ET
Location: Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA
Week 11 Betting Odds: San Francisco -7
Chicago vs. San Francisco Live TV: ESPN

Monday Night Football was supposed to be a great showcase between two of the top teams in the NFC, but instead, what we think we are going to find is nothing but a game between one team that is really angry and one that is really overmatched. The Niners have had two embarrassing games at home already this year, the loss to the Giants and now the tie to the Rams. QB Alex Smith is in, but QB Jay Cutler is out, and the Bears have already proven that they can’t play against the best that the league has to offer. Not only was Chicago blasted by the Packers on the road, but it was crushed by Houston as well in a game in which the weather conditions were ideal for a Bears victory. The ground game just isn’t going to work, and in the end, if that turns out to be the case, the 49ers should be able to eke together enough offense to make this one work. Look for the hosts to jump into the No. 2 seed in the NFC and make a real statement to the rest of the league on MNF.

Bears @ 49ers Pick: San Francisco 49ers -7
Bears @ 49ers Score Prediction: San Francisco 21 – Chicago 6

The Trojans and the Fighting Illini are going to be playing again each other in the final game of the night at the Maui Invitational, and one of these two teams is going to end up having the donut taken out of their win column. The Illini have already played once out here in Hawaii, having beaten the Warriors in overtime just two days ago. USC has had a good campaign to start of the year as well, knocking off Long Beach State and Coppin State. However, this is a clear set up in competition for both of these teams. It feels like the Trojans are going to have the better opportunity for success, and it feels like they are still underrated after last season chock full of injuries. The defense for Illinois has really ramped it up as well, and we see no way that the Illini are going to get even 60 on the board in this one. If Illinois gets frustrated, the opening game for both of these teams in Maui should go to Southern Cal.

USC vs. Illinois Pick: USC Trojans -1
USC vs. Illinois Prediction: USC 63 – Illinois 58

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Monday NFL odds pits the San Francisco 49ers against the Chicago Bears. These two are going to be meeting at 8:30 p.m. ET at Candlestick Park, and I’m going to show you which side to make your NFL pick on for this great game.

Chicago Bears (7-2, 5-4 ATS) +7
San Francisco 49ers (6-2-1, 5-4 ATS) -7
Over/Under 36.5

The immediate gut reaction to the fact that the ‘total’ this week is 36.5 is for the game to go sailing under the ‘total’. However, I have a bit of a different take on this game and think that, in spite of Joe Public’s best wishes for this game to go by quickly and without incident, that it will indeed find a way to at least eke past the number.

QB Jason Campbell isn’t your average backup quarterback. He has the ability to put some points on the board, and he has starting experience. On top of that, the supposedly “vaunted” Bears defense has allowed 55 points over the course of the last three weeks, and those points have come against two bad offenses and a great offense that was stuck playing in the midst of a monsoon at Soldier Field.

Scoring hasn’t been the problem for the 49ers, as they have at least 24 points scored in four of their last five and six of their nine games this year. The perception of this team is that the defense does all of the heavy lifting, and though this unit is stout, it is capable of allowing 14-17 points and likely will do so. Now go back and look at some history of these teams. Four of the last six have gotten past the ‘total’, and the two games that didn’t were played in horrendous weather conditions (including a 17-9 game that featured almost comical wind conditions at Soldier Field). This one should at least find its way into the high-30s, and perhaps as high as the mid-40s when it is said and done with.

Bears @ 49ers Tips: Over 36.5
