The Pacers have been off for the last three days as they have prepared for this West Coast swing that could prove to be brutal. They were beaten down by the San Antonio Spurs in their final game at home before heading out West, but the 104-97 game didn’t quite tell the whole story. The Pacers are running right now, and they’re running out of the building. They have taken 92 shots in consecutive games, and they have had six straight games allowing at least 81 shots from the field. If you give up 81 shots from the field to the Lakers, you’re probably going to give up a heck of a lot of points. Six out of seven in this series have gone past the ‘total’, and with more and more practice under Head Coach Mike D’Antoni, the Lakers are only going to go faster and faster. Look for both teams to get into the mid-80s in shot attempts, and as a result, both will get into the 100s to push this one past the number.

A game that we have had circled for a few weeks at this point. Toronto is a very, very sharp play on Tuesday night, as almost all of the early betting action has come in on Houston, only to see that the line hasn’t moved really at all from the open of 5.5 (down to 5 at some outlets). The Raptors have been great in this series, covering two straight and going 3-0-1 ATS in the last four. The home team has won every game in this series dating back to 2007, but that is of no concern to us. It’s a homecoming for G Kyle Lowry, who has put up some of the best stats for a point guard in the league this year at 18.2 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.9 boards per game. He’s a triple-double threat, and he could threaten that in this one against his former team. Keep a close eye on G DeMar DeRozan as well, as he might be in for a good night against a weak backcourt defense for Houston. This is a game that we think is going the way of the Raptors.

The assumption here is that Michigan has the significantly better of these two teams. However, we’re really not all that sure that that’s the case. The Wolfpack have the ability to really light it up in bunches this year, and they haven’t been able to do that at this point. Sure, they put 94 on UMass and 82 on UNC Asheville, but there hasn’t been that one game where they have flown all over the place and filled up the scoreboard. Michigan has been great defensively, holding all of its foes to 62 points or fewer this year, but this clearly isn’t going to be the case in this one. We really expect to see G Scott Wood come out and light the world on fire from beyond the arc, as NC State comes up with a win that will send a big message to the rest of the ACC and puts the conference on warning that this isn’t just a game for North Carolina and Duke any longer. Take the points, but expect the upset in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge should once again be quite entertaining this year, and the showcase game of the bunch is the clash between North Carolina and Indiana tonight. The Hoosiers clearly have the more talented of the two teams, and they should be able to exploit what has actually rounded into a weakness for the Heels. UNC just doesn’t have the men in the middle of the paint area to defend the rim as it used to, as F James Michael McAdoo just isn’t cutting it by himself the way that the likes of John Henson, Tyler Zeller, and Harrison Barnes used to. That’s going to open things up for F Cody Zeller and F Christian Watford, both of which are double-double candidates in this game on Tuesday night to shine. The backcourt rotation for North Carolina just doesn’t look as crisp and polished as it normally does, and that won’t help matters either. Perhaps with another couple months of games, this will be a different story, but for now, we know that North Carolina is a mess of a team and won’t be able to stick around with a club as cohesive and as talented as that of Indiana.
