The Boston Celtics and the San Antonio Spurs are going to square off in a Saturday night NBA betting affair on December 15th. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for basketball for what should be a great game on Saturday.

NBA Predictions: Boston Celtics @ San Antonio Spurs
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 8:30 ET
Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX
NBA Betting Odds: San Antonio -9.5
Celtics vs. Spurs NBA TV Schedule: NBA TV

We’ve got a pretty good feel right now for the Celtics and the Spurs, and we think that this is a game that the C’s are going to stick inside of this number, but not ultimately win the game. Boston has covered seven in a row against the Spurs here in San Antonio, though the two teams didn’t meet last year in the Lone Star State. The road team has already taken one game in this series this year, as the Spurs went up to Beantown and beat the snot out of the Celtics 112-100. However, we think that laying 9.5 is just far too many to lay in a game like this one. San Antonio is going to be glad to be glad at home after a disastrous road trip that saw the team lose its last two games to the Jazz and the Trail Blazers. The Spurs will get back on track in this one, but again, beating a Boston team by double digits that was blown away by a dozen last night and clearly looked to give up a bit down the stretch probably isn’t going to happen.

Celtics @ Spurs NBA Pick: Boston Celtics +9.5
Celtics @ Spurs Score Prediction: Spurs 104 – Celtics 98

BovadaThe BYU Cougars and the San Diego State Aztecs are set to kick off the 2012 Poinsettia Bowl on Thursday 12/20, and I’m set to make my Poinsettia Bowl pick for the affair at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA. Kickoff is set for 8:00 ET, and I’ve got the perfect NCAA football pick for the Poinsettia Bowl.

2012 Poinsettia Bowl
BYU Cougars (7-5, 6-6 ATS) -3.5
San Diego State Aztecs (9-3, 8-4 ATS) +3.5
Over/Under 48

Historically speaking, this is a tough game to handicap. These two teams used to play together in the Mountain West, and I would like to think that that history should play into my handicapping, but I’ve got two contrasting problems. The first problem is that bowl games tend to be higher scoring. The second problem is that these two teams used to play offense a heck of a lot better than they do right now. So to sit here and say that four of the last five reached at least 53 points in this series doesn’t do me a heck of a lot of good.

My next inkling is to compare the two styles of offense against what the other defense is good at. It seems as though the Aztecs are going to struggle on the ground against the Cougars, but I’m not so sure that that is actually the case. San Diego State has not just one, but two very good backs in RB Adam Muema and RB Walter Kazee that are going to run the ball and run it hard for the whole game. The Cougars did rank second in the nation against the run this year, but they also did play a schedule that included teams like Washington State and Hawaii, who rarely put the ball on the ground. Granted, they also took on Georgia Tech and shut the Ramblin’ Wreck down, and that’s a totally run-based triple option attack.

Huge 50% Sportsbook Bonus at Bovada Sportsbook

And in the end, I’m backing to looking what these offenses have done of late. The Aztecs, playing with a backup quarterback in QB Adam Dingwell, did put 42 up on the Wyoming Cowboys in the closing game of the regular season, and they did score at least 34 points in eight out of 12 games on the campaign and at least 21 in every game since the opening week of the year. BYU scored at least 41 in three of its last four. In games in which QB Riley Nelson was active and played the majority of the snaps, the team averaged 30.1 points per game. That’s all good enough to make me think that this one, in spite of the fact that both teams do have very good defenses, will get past this relatively low number posted on the board.

The BYU Cougars and the San Diego State Aztecs are going to square off on the Poinsettia Bowl odds and betting lines. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our Poinsettia Bowl picks & predictions for football for what should be a great game on Thursday.

Poinsettia Bowl Picks: BYU Cougars vs. San Diego State Aztecs
Date: Thursday, December 20th, 8:00 ET
Location: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
Poinsettia Bowl Betting Odds: BYU -3.5
BYU vs. San Diego State Live TV: ESPN

The Aztecs are going to be the de facto home team in this game against BYU, and these two teams know all about each other having shared the Mountain West together for a number of years. It could make this one of the chippier bowl games of the year for sure, knowing that there could be some bad blood spilling over from the days that these two shared in the MWC. However, both of these clubs are rich in bowl history in recent years. The Cougs have won three bowls in a row and five out of six, while San Diego State was beaten at the gun last year in the New Orleans Bowl. This is the second time that the Aztecs have played in the Poinsettia Bowl, having won it in 2010 over the Navy Midshipmen.

Bovada Sportsbook

It’s been a trying year for both of these teams. The Aztecs graduated out a ton of players from last year’s team, and Head Coach Rocky Long knew that he had his work cut out for him. Matters were made even worse when QB Ryan Katz was knocked out for the season, and QB Adam Dingwell had to replace him. However, the ground game and the rushing attack have stayed solid this year. SDSU ranks 44th in the land in scoring defense and 15th in the land in rushing, and in both cases, the ground work of RB Adam Muema and RB Walter Kazee has made the difference.

It’s a tough draw for the Cougars. Yes, they do have the defense that can stand up to any team in the country, as this unit ranks fifth in the nation in scoring and third in total ‘D’. Still, QB Riley Nelson isn’t at 100%, and he and his teammates know it. That could make for a long game against a very good team. We want the points on our side in spite of the fact that BYU won each of the final five meetings that these two teams had in the Mountain West this year.

BYU vs. San Diego State Pick: San Diego State Aztecs +3.5
Poinsettia Bowl Score Prediction: San Diego State 24 – BYU 16

I’ve been studying the ‘total’ for the New Mexico Bowl odds for quite some time, and I’m ready to make my New Mexico Bowl picks for the clash between the Arizona Wildcats and the Nevada Wolf Pack. The Nevada vs. Arizona kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET at University Stadium in Albuquerque, NM, and I’m going to show you which way to bet on college football to make your CFB pick on for this great game.

2012 New Mexico Bowl
Nevada Wolf Pack (7-5, 3-9 ATS) +9
Arizona Wildcats (7-5, 6-6 ATS) -9
Over/Under 77

The Wolf Pack and the Wildcats are both teams that can really light it up, but here in the New Mexico Bowl, I’m really not so sure that the game is going to be able to reach a ‘total’ that has really flown through the roof over the course of the last several days.

Bowl games haven’t always been kind for the Wolf Pack. They only scored 17 points last year against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in spite of the fact that they had an offense that scored at least 42 points in five of the team’s last seven games of the season, and they scored just 20 the year before in the final season for QB Colin Kaepernick. In fact, dating back to 2006, the Wolf Pack have been held to 20 points or fewer in all but one of their bowl games, and that was a game that they were beaten 42-35 by the Maryland Terrapins. This year’s team is a high flying team for sure with RB Stefphon Jefferson carrying the ball, but I’m just not certain that he is going to be able to do it all by himself.

The Wildcats have had the ability to get the ball moving up and down the field as well with RB Ka’Deem Carey. The team has done a lot of scoring in the 30s this year, and if you take away the games against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, South Carolina State Bulldogs, and the Colorado Buffaloes, all of which have terrible defenses, there isn’t all that much to speak of in terms of tremendous outputs. This strikes me as a game in which Arizona is going to get into the mid-30s, but not all that much more. And, with the way that Nevada has struggled to keep the ball moving in bowl games with teams having weeks and weeks to prepare for the Pistol offense, this is an ‘under’ game waiting to happen.

The Idaho Potato Bowl is one of the great games of the season on the 2012 bowl schedule, and today, we are making our Toledo vs. Utah State picks and predictions and trying to beat the Idaho Potato Bowl odds here at Cappers Info.

Idaho Potato Bowl Picks: Toledo Rockets vs. Utah State Aggies
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 4:30 ET
Location: Bronco Stadium, Boise, ID
Idaho Potato Bowl Betting Odds: Utah State -10.5
Toledo vs. Utah State Live TV Coverage: ESPN

It’s going to be a big afternoon in Boise for the Aggies, who are going to try to get into the win column for the second time ever in a bowl game. Utah State made it here to the Potato Bowl last year, but it was beaten by the Ohio Bobcats. There is definitely a score to settle for the members of the WAC. Toledo has been a fantastic team in bowl games for sure, including winning last year at the Military Bowl over the Air Force Falcons.

QB Chuckie Keeton and RB Kerwynn Williams are the big time stars for this offense. Keeton threw for 3,142 yards and rushed for 539 yards, and he had a total of 34 touchdowns for the club. Williams was the team’s leading rusher with 1,277 yards and 12 TDs, and he is also the leading receiver as well with 43 catches, 663 yards, and five trips to the end zone. We know that Williams is going to get the ball a heck of a lot of times, and it might be very difficult for the Rockets to slow him down.

In the end though, this is a ton of points to be giving a team from a very good MAC. Remember that the MAC has won two straight games in the Idaho Potato Bowl, and three of the last four bowl games played here in Boise have been decided by a touchdown or fewer. As a result, we are definitely going to take the points. We do think that the Aggies will win this game and get some revenge from last year’s close call against Ohio, but this will be another close game.

Toledo vs. Utah State Pick: Toledo Rockets +10.5
Idaho Potato Bowl Score Prediction: Utah State 31 – Toledo 24

The 2012 New Mexico Bowl picks are set to go here at Cappers Info, and we are ready to make our free bowl picks for all of the games on the schedule. Check out the Nevada vs. Arizona picks and predictions for what should be a remarkable game.

New Mexico Bowl Picks: Nevada Wolf Pack vs. Arizona Wildcats
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 1:00 ET
Location: University Stadium, Albuquerque, NM
New Mexico Bowl Betting Odds: Arizona -9
Nevada vs. Arizona Live TV Coverage: ESPN

Get used to seeing a heck of a lot of underdogs this year in the bowl games, as we generally think that this is going to be a bowl season where a lot of favorites win games outright. There aren’t many times that we think that the Wolf Pack are a great play in the bowl season, as they have had a terrible history playing in the postseason, but this is going to be an exception to the rule.

The great equalizer this year is going to be the fact that Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is the man on the other side of the field. For as badly as Nevada has been in the postseason, Rich Rod hasn’t had all that much luck either, especially most recently when his old team, the Michigan Wolverines had their doors blown off in the Gator Bowl two years ago. It will also help Nevada that Arizona is only going to have two weeks to prepare for this game, and not the six weeks that some have had in the past to figure out this Pistol offense.

We aren’t all that sure that the Wolf Pack are going to be able to pull off the upset in this one, but we do think that this is going to be a great game to start the bowl season. The Mountain West was a competitive conference this year, and we think that a middling team in the MWC is going to be able to at least hang with a middling team in the Pac-12. Look for RB Stefphon Jefferson to give the Wildcats fits, just as he has against virtually every other team this year. Remember that this Arizona defense ranked 120th in the country, allowing over 485 yards per game on the campaign. Nevada might have allowed 212.9 yards per game, and it might be lacking just a bit of talent, but it should at least be able to stick around, just as it did in the finale this year against the Boise State Broncos.

Nevada vs. Arizona Pick: Nevada Wolf Pack +9
New Mexico Bowl Score Prediction: Arizona 38 – Nevada 35

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Saturday night. The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Kansas State Wildcats will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN2.

Free College Hoops Picks: Kansas State Wildcats @ Gonzaga Bulldogs
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 9:00 ET
Location: Key Arena, Seattle, WA
Kansas State vs. Gonzaga Live TV: ESPN2

This is a neutral site game in name only, as the Bulldogs are clearly going to have the bigger following playing here in Seattle than Kansas State will in spite of the fact that it is a solid three or four hours of driving to get from Spokane to Seattle. This is the return trip for the Wildcats to the Apple State after Gonzaga played at the Sprint Center two years ago. K-State only has one blemish this year against a Michigan Wolverines teams that is clearly one of the best in the country. Of course, the rest of the schedule has been chock full of nothing. Gonzaga probably would have been favored by two touchdowns in this game if not for the fact that over the course of the last week and a half, it needed a buzzer-beater to take down the Washington State Cougars and were trumped by the Illinois Fighting Illini at home. We do think that there is bigger and better on the horizon for the Zags though, and all of that might come to a head this weekend. It’s high time for Head Coach Mark Few and the gang to put together a very convincing victory, and that’s exactly what will happen on Saturday night.

Kansas State vs. Gonzaga Pick: Gonzaga Bulldogs
Kansas State vs. Gonzaga Prediction: Gonzaga 81 – Kansas State 65

The last game on the college basketball schedule of the evening should be a doozy of a clash, as the No. 5 Gators take on the No. 8 Wildcats in Tucson. We expect to see Arizona as a slight favorite in this game, and we think that that will be a justified line. Last year when these two clubs met in Gainesville, the game went to overtime in spite of the fact that Arizona was an 11.5-point pup. Little did we know that these teams would both make such strides, and now, some think that this could be a Final Four battle royal. UF already has a whopping 57 steals in just seven games this year, and the team forces turnovers like it is no one’s business. On the road though, this could be a severely different challenge. The Wildcats haven’t faced a test like this on the campaign, and as long as they can cut down on their 14.9 turnovers per game, they should have the talent with G Nick Johnson and G Mark Lyons to be able to outshoot the men in orange and blue.

Florida vs. Arizona Pick: Arizona Wildcats
Florida vs. Arizona Prediction: Arizona 78 – Florida 70

College Basketball Picks: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Butler Bulldogs
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 2:00 ET
Location: Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN
Indiana vs. Butler Live TV: CBS

GT Bets Banner

Indiana and Butler are both teams that have a lot to be hopeful for this year. The Bulldogs can surely shoot the rock, as they’re knocking down 46.2 percent of their shot attempts and are good for 73.4 points per game. G Rotnei Clarke is great from the outside, while C Andrew Smith and F Khyle Marshall are both go off for double-doubles in the paint. Butler is going to be overmatched for sure by the likes of F Cody Zeller and F Christian Watford, while the sharpshooters for the Hoosiers are likely going to be able to knock down some big time shots. This is a big time game though, and there is no little school like Butler that you like to bet in situations like this one. Even though this game is going to be played in Hoosier Country in Indianapolis, there is no doubt that Butler will have a contingent in place, and the neutral observer that is there to see Purdue and Notre Dame will surely be backing the little guys. Butler might be able to hang on Saturday afternoon, but it won’t be able to pull off the upset.

Indiana vs. Butler Pick: Butler Bulldogs
Indiana vs. Butler Prediction: Indiana 77 – Butler 72

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Saturday night. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Purdue Boilermakers will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN2.

Free College Hoops Picks: Purdue Boilermakers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Date: Saturday, December 15th, 4:30 ET
Location: Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN
Purdue vs. Notre Dame Live TV: ESPN2

The Boilermakers and the Fighting Irish are truly two totally different teams in this year, and the end result of this game just isn’t going to be all that pretty. Purdue is a 4-5 team that has no chance of dancing this year. The schedule really hasn’t been all that tough either, and home losses to Bucknell and Xavier, along with a road loss against Eastern Michigan really don’t sit well. Meanwhile, Notre Dame has played an eclectic schedule that has included some dud games like the ones against Chicago State and Brown, but some massive games against teams like Kentucky as well. This is going to feel like a home game for the Golden Domers, and against a team that is averaging just 66.6 points per game this year, there is no reason to think that this is going to be anything less than a double digit victory for a far superior Notre Dame outfit. There will just be no answers to anything that the Fighting Irish pull out of their hats, and the No. 22 team in the land will take another stride in the right direction on Saturday.

Purdue vs. Notre Dame Pick: Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Purdue vs. Notre Dame Prediction: Notre Dame 76 – Purdue 58

The Potato Bowl is one of the games on the college football bowl schedule this year, and today, I’m set to make my NCAA football pointspread picks for the ‘total’ in this clash. The Toledo Rockets and the Utah State Aggies are going to do battle at Bronco Stadium in Boise, ID. Join me for my Potato Bowl tips for this 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff that can be seen on ESPN.

The Potato Bowl is going to be a heck of a battle on Saturday afternoon on the Smurf Turf. Historically, this is a wild game with very unpredictable results. Last year’s game was the first in five years that didn’t feature at least one team getting into the 40s in points, as this same Utah State team was beaten 24-23 by the MAC’s Ohio Bobcats.

2012 Potato Bowl
Toledo Rockets (9-3, 7-5 ATS) +10.5
Utah State Aggies (10-2, 10-1-1 ATS) -10.5
Over/Under 58.5

I’m really wondering whether the Rockets are going to be able to move the ball on the Aggies. Toledo did have a respectable offense that averaged 456.1 yards and 32.9 points per game this year, but it really never did see a defense quite as talented as this one. The only even remotely comparable game was the 27-15 win over the Bowling Green Falcons, and that was a home game, not a de facto road game here in Boise. Utah State ranked eighth in the country in scoring defense, allowing 15.4 points per game, and the only team to put more than 27 on these guys this year was the wild Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, who went off for 41.

Click Here to get a Massive 200% Bonus @ WagerWeb

It’s just not a great spot for an ‘over’ play in my eyes. There’s going to be a lot of getting the ball in the hands of RB Kerwynn Williams for the Aggies and RB David Fluellen for the Rockets, and that could eat up a heck of a lot of clock as well. Utah State played to a 6-0 start to the season for ‘under’ bettors before finally playing a high scoring game, and there were only three ‘overs’ to speak of all year long. The average game only reached 49.8 points per game, and if you take out that wild one against La Tech, that average comes down to 46.3 points per game. It’s going to take a heck of a lot to get this one into the 60s, and I just don’t see it happening when push comes to shove.

Toledo vs. Utah State Picks & Tips: Under 58.5

The Wolverines and Mountaineers are going to be playing in Brooklyn on Saturday night, and the game might be one that surprises just a bit. Michigan is a great team for sure, and it could be Final Four bound this year, but we really don’t think that it is one of the best three teams in the nation. Granted, we know that this club is off to a great start, and we don’t want to take anything away from it, but that 10-0 mark is a bit deceiving. Equally deceiving is the 4-4 start that West Virginia is off to this year. The Mountaineers aren’t on anyone’s watch list to get into the NCAA Tournament this year, but we think that they are going to improve under Head Coach Bob Huggins for the whole season. As the year wears on, this could be a team that contends in the Big East. The ‘Neers hit a season-low during the week when they were beaten by the Duquesne Dukes at home as 7.5-point favorites. However, a home win over the Virginia Tech Hokies was quite nice. This is a team that is good enough to hang around in this game at a neutral site, and that’s exactly how we think this is going to pan out.

Michigan vs. West Virginia Pick: West Virginia Mountaineers
Michigan vs. West Virginia Prediction: Michigan 72 – West Virginia 67
