This line feels a little suspect to us. The Timberwolves are a 12-9 team yes, but they’re also a 12-9 team that still has the perception of being one of the loveable losers of the Western Conference. The club has played 11 games on the road this year, and it has just a 5-6 SU record. Meanwhile, the Heat are rolling at home, going 11-2 SU and 7-6 ATS. The team has played five straight games here at home, and it has won and covered three of the last four. That being said, we really like Minnesota in this one. G Ricky Rubio is back, and he has to be able to do more than he did last night against the Orlando Magic when he went scoreless and shot 0-for-3 from the field. The T’Wolves played a horrendous second half against Orlando last night, and it should come out fired up to take this one from the perceived best team in the NBA. Miami has bigger fish to fry than this, and just as we have seen in the past in games against teams like the Wizards and the Warriors, some unexpected teams can come to town and upset Miami. Don’t be surprised if this is one of those nights. We definitely want the points on our side.

Stanford has gotten off to a respectable start to its season, but it really hasn’t played much of anything away from home as of yet. This is the first legitimate road game of the year, as there have only been a few neutral site games and clashes played in Palo Alto. There’s very little not to like about this team, but there is very little to actually like either. The backcourt is very suspect at times, but the big men, led by F Dwight Powell and F Josh Huestis are making a big difference, at least to this point in the season. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack have probably underachieved, losing three games already, but we do have to note that none of the losses, save perhaps the one to Oklahoma State, were worth clamoring about. The club has come out over the course of the last week and beaten the snot out of some lesser foes, and this is going to be another one of those situations. Stanford hosted these two last year and won 76-72. It’s time for some payback for NC State.

Many are going to look at that 9-2 record for the Spiders this year and think that they actually have a chance of coming into the Phog and knocking off the Jayhawks. However, we look back at this record this year that Richmond has built up and fail to be impressed. There really aren’t any tremendous wins of note at that point in the season, and we think that the escape from James Madison and the 73-48 romp at the hands of Ohio in Athens don’t bode all that well. Kansas meanwhile, has been one of the more impressive teams in the nation this year, and it has rolled right through teams like Belmont (by 29), Colorado (by 36), San Jose State (by 13), and St. Louis (by 14) of late. The Spiders have an offense that might be able to do some damage, but in the end, this feels like a game that belongs to the Jayhawks by a relatively comfortable margin. If the Bobcats were able to slam the A-10 reps by 25 points, it’s any wonder what Rock Chalk is going to be able to do.
