Three clashes on the hardwood will take place on Friday night, and we are set to make our NBA playoff picks for all of the duels that are so crucial this time of year.

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Atlanta Hawks @ Boston Celtics Game 3
Date: Friday, May 4th, 7:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Boston -8 (173.5)

We know that we have seen two games in this series that really haven’t finished as that close, but both encounters were competitive, and there is no reason that that should change now that the site has shifted to Beantown. We just don’t think all that much of the C’s, even though they are going to have back Rajon Rondo in this game. The Hawks are beat up badly with Zaza Pachulia, Erick Dampier, Al Horford, and Josh Smith all sitting out, but we still think that they are good enough to at least stick inside of this big time spread on the road.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Atlanta Hawks +8

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Chicago Bulls @ Philadelphia 76ers Game 3
Date: Friday, May 4th, 8:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Philadelphia -1.5 (179.5)

We are calling BS on the oddsmakers in this one. The 76ers were able to go on the road and win by 17 points in the second game of this series, but we just don’t think that that is going to be the case here in the City of Brotherly Love. The Bulls were able to split the two games here at the Wells Fargo Center during the regular season, and the game that they lost was one in which a ton of players sat out. Derrick Rose isn’t playing, but the rest of this team is still together. At some point, the bigs are going to step up and impose their will on Philly, and this could be the time that that happens. It is a joke in our eyes that the Bulls are underdogs in this game.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Chicago Bulls +1.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets Game 3
Date: Friday, May 4th, 10:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Denver -4 (204)

Again, we are asking questions of the oddsmakers in this game. The Lakers were a dominating home team this year, going 26-7 in the regular season, and there have now been two wins in the playoffs as well. Sure, they weren’t as good on the road, but when you really look at it, the Nuggets went just 20-13 here at Pepsi Arena as well. The Lakers have now won four games in a row in this series dating back to the regular season, and though three of those four games were at Staples Center, we think that Denver is going to be lucky to win this game. The safer and more consistent play here in the playoffs is on Kobe and the Lakers.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Los Angeles Lakers +4

Cappersinfo Current NBA Power Rankings
(2012 Playoff Power Rankings)

1: Miami Heat (49-20) – The Heat are clearly the best team in the league, and they are playing in the Eastern Conference, where there just aren’t all that many land mines that could be run into. The rest of the teams in this conference are clearly flawed and flawed in a big way, and after getting rid of the Knicks in the first round, the Pacers or Magic shouldn’t prove to be all that much of a challenge either. There’s a reason that Miami is the odds on favorite already on the odds to win the NBA Finals.

2: San Antonio Spurs (52-16) – Most seasons in the playoffs, the Spurs are out to play good defense and figure out how to make some timely shots with their stars. This time around though, they are running up and down the court and using their depth to wear opponents down. Head Coach Gregg Popovich isn’t going to be changing the way that he coaches with this team, as this is a formula that has worked and worked well all season long. This is a completely different team from the one that was beaten in the first round of the playoffs last year as the top seed in the conference.

3: Oklahoma City Thunder (50-19) – There were many that thought that Dallas was going to be able to fight with the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs, but that just hasn’t proven to be the case. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant aren’t the only ones that are doing the job though, but all of those stats aren’t showing up on the stat sheet. The defense has been great, especially in clutch moments here in this series, and if this keeps up for the rest of te playoffs, the Thunder are going to be tough to knock out.

4: Los Angeles Lakers (43-25) – Kobe Bryant is still the man that we would want to have if we were starting a team to play in the playoffs this year, and as long as that turns out to be the case, the Lakers are a force to be reckoned with. They are well on their way to the second round of the playoffs already, and though their road to get to the NBA Finals again is going to be tough, the Lakers are absolutely legit.

5: Memphis Grizzlies (42-26) – The Grizzlies aren’t necessarily guaranteed to be in the playoffs past the first round at this point, but they are the better team in this first round series against the Clippers. Remember that Memphis is a dangerous team that beat the Spurs last year in the first round of the playoffs and pushed Oklahoma City as well. Now, Rudy Gay is back in the fold, and he could be the difference maker for the postseason.

6: Chicago Bulls (51-17) – There are a heck of a lot of expert NBA handicappers that think that the Bulls are in a ton of trouble without Derrick Rose. They are only just barely favorites to win this first round series against a Philadelphia team that was one of the worst at the outset of the playoffs for sure. Head Coach Tom Thibodeau is going to be thinking about why he had Rose involved in a game that was really already said and done with in Game 1 for quite some time if the Bulls end up getting knocked out of the playoffs prematurely.

7: Indiana Pacers (44-25) – The Pacers have played some great defense here in the playoffs, and they have clearly figured out how to beat the Magic. They are going to have a shot at making some noise in the postseason, but the likelihood that they are going to beat the Heat in the second round just isn’t all that great. Danny Granger is still one of the most unheralded stars in the NBA at this point, though this is another one of those chances for him to shine.

8: Los Angeles Clippers (41-27) – We give the boys from Lob City all of the credit in the world for finding a way to erase a 27-point deficit on the road in Game 1 of the playoffs, but in the end, the truth of the matter is that the Clips are overmatched and really aren’t going to be able to win here in the postseason. They are still a force to be reckoned with at Staples Center, but we think that they need to win both of these games to have a shot at continuing onto the second round of the playoffs.

9: Boston Celtics (40-28) – There is a point that the Celtics are going to have all of their players back, and they might be a team that can sneak into the Eastern Conference Finals if and when that happens. Ray Allen hasn’t been on the court yet in the postseason, but Rajon Rondo is going to be back in the fold for Game 3 against the Hawks. Boston is clearly the better of these two teams, and if the Bulls do turn out to be paper tigers, the road in the East opens up quite a bit for a team that looked to be finished early on in the season.

10: Denver Nuggets (38-30) – If there is a team that is going to have the ability to erase an 0-2 deficit in the first round of the playoffs, Denver is that team. We have seen the team go on some runs and put points on the board against the Lakers, and they clearly have the deeper team in just about every respect. Still, talent for talent, the Lakers are just better, and it is going to take a Herculean effort for the Nuggets to get back in this series at this point after losing the first two games in Tinseltown.

11: Dallas Mavericks (36-33) – The Mavs really didn’t play well down the stretch in the regular season, and in the end, it probably was their undoing for here in the playoffs as well. They really fought hard in the first two games of their first round series against the Thunder, but in the end, the champs saw their season essentially come to a close at home in Game 3 when they were blown out of the water on their home court.

12: Philadelphia 76ers (36-32) – At least we can say that the Sixers have a pulse at this point. They play some truly hardnosed defense at times, and they really looked good in their win on the road at the United Center in Game 2. Still, there is a long, uphill climb to get rid of the team with the best record in the league this year, but at that point, the possibility is there that the No. 8 seed could still be a bit noisy when push comes to shove. Lou Williams is really going to need to do more off of the bench though, as he is the only tremendous sharpshooter that this team has to offer.

13: Orlando Magic (38-31) – The Magic just haven’t done anything in terms of scoring here in the playoffs, and it is really starting to show. When the perimeter game isn’t working, there isn’t anything left to rely on with Dwight Howard out of the fold. The Magic stole Game 1 on the road and played well for a half at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, but since that point, they have been thoroughly dominated in virtually every aspect of the game. Head Coach Stan Van Gundy might be in his last few days in the City Beautiful.

14: New York Knicks (36-33) – The Knicks really never had a shot against the Heat in the first round of the playoffs, and their frustration has clearly boiled over. Jeremy Lin still hasn’t played. Carmelo Anthony is still jacking up shots all over the place. Iman Shumpert has torn his ACL. And now Amare Stoudemire is busy punching fire extinguishers and ripping his hand apart. In the end, it looks like this team has just fallen apart at the seams, and it is going to make for a long offseason in the Big Apple.

15: Atlanta Hawks (41-27) – The Hawks have their wins in the regular season to fall back on, but in the end, when you look at their injury report, they look to be in worse shape than most of the rest of the teams here in the postseason. Atlanta is a wreck without Josh Smith and Al Horford, and the team just doesn’t have the offense to compete with any of the best teams in the league. The only godsend is that most of those teams are in the Western Conference. The Hawks still have a shot, but we think those chances are gloomy at best.

16: Utah Jazz (36-32) – The Jazz are likely to get swept clear out of the playoffs this year, and we really didn’t expect anything less. They are a deep team, but they aren’t as deep as the Spurs are, and they don’t have the stars or the veterans that the Spurs do either. In the end, they were literally run right off of the court at the AT&T Center twice in the first few days of the first round of the playoffs, and we don’t expect any other result even though the series has shifted back to Energy Solutions Arena.

A pair of teams that are already up 2-0 in their series hit the road on Thursday for pivotal Game 3s. Our NBA handicappers are set to make their playoff NBA predictions for the games on tap on Thursday.

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Miami Heat @ New York Knicks Game 3
Date: Thursday, May 3rd, 7:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Miami -5 (186)

The Knicks know that they are in a heck of a lot of trouble in this series, and matters could really get out of hand in a hurry here at Madison Square Garden. Iman Shumpert tore his ACL in Game 1, and Tyson Chandler was so visibly frustrated that he basically threw an elbow into the back of LeBron James. After losing Game 2, Amare Stoudemire came off of the court and punched into the glass of a fire extinguisher, cutting his hand open, which will almost certainly cause him to miss this one. This is ugly. This is really, really ugly for the Knicks. When matters got out of hand in the regular season, Head Coach Mike D’Antoni ended up getting fired for it. Mike Woodson certainly hasn’t done anything to warrant being fired, even if this series does end here at MSG by the weekend, however, there is a real question as to whether New York has the mental strength to get back in this series. We just don’t see it.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Miami Heat -5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Oklahoma City Thunder @ Dallas Mavericks Game 3
Date: Thursday, May 3rd, 9:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Dallas -3.5 (194.5)

If the Mavericks are going to get back into this series, they know that this is the game in which they really have to make some noise. They have covered both of the first two games in this series, but now is when the rubber meets the road with a point spread that is just this close. In the end, we just don’t know if Dallas is going to be able to match up with what Oklahoma City is throwing its way no matter where the game is being played. Yes, it will help to be at the American Airlines Center for sure, but we just don’t think that when push comes to shove that the Mavericks have the team to be able to stick with the Thunder anywhere.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder +3.5

Three series that are proving to be quite close continue on Wednesday, May 2nd. We take our chances at making winning NBA picks for the three games that are on tap that are surely not to be missed for Hump Day!

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Utah Jazz @ San Antonio Spurs Game 2
Date: Wednesday, May 2nd, 7:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: San Antonio -11.5 (204)

We played on the Jazz the first time around and really got bitten by it, but this time, we think that San Antonio is the right play. Sure, Tony Parker had a game that was out of this world in Game 1, but do you really think that Manu Ginobili is going to score just seven points on 3-of-10 shooting in Game 2? We really don’t believe that to be the case. The Jazz just look like they are overmatched in this series, and especially after last season when San Antonio really screwed around in its series with the Grizzlies, we don’t think that it is going to take any chances. This should be another blowout on Wednesday.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: San Antonio Spurs -11.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Indiana Pacers @ Orlando Magic Game 3
Date: Wednesday, May 2nd, 7:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Off The Board (XXX)

These first two games of this series have been quite odd to say the least, and we have a hard time figuring out which one of these two teams is going to have the edge in the pivotal Game 3 to determine which team will take a 2-1 series lead. Indiana is coming off of the best half of basketball that either team has played in this series, but home court advantage could be crucial for an Orlando team that really lives and dies by the three-pointer. We haven’t seen the Magic get hot from the outside yet in this series, and this is the perfect time for that to happen. It’s time for Orlando to prove that it will still have a team that is capable of competing when it comes time for Dwight Howard to pull a “magic act” and disappear from the City Beautiful for good.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Orlando Magic -XX

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Los Angeles Clippers @ Memphis Grizzlies Game 2
Date: Wednesday, May 2nd, 9:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Memphis -6 (185)

The Grizzlies have had a few days to sit and digest what happened over the course of the weekend. They blew an historic lead that cost them the advantage in this series, and they now know if they don’t end up winning this one, that their time in the postseason is sure to be short. In the end though, they were the better team in Game 1 and the better team by a healthy margin. They’ll be the ones laughing last after Wednesday, as the time off really gave them the chance to reassess where they are this season. The Clippers won’t know what hit them, and Memphis isn’t going to get off of the gas pedal this time around.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Memphis Grizzlies -6

Three Game 2s are on tap for the first night of May, and here at Cappers Info, we are taking aim at our NBA picks for the clashes that are on the docket that aren’t to be missed!

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Philadelphia 76ers @ Chicago Bulls Game 2
Date: Tuesday, May 1st, 8:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Chicago -6.5 (176)

The Bulls were able to blow the Sixers out of the water in Game 1 of this series at home, though we must note that they were able to do with that Derrick Rose in the lineup. Desperation is clearly going to set in now for Philly, which knows that this is going to be its best chance to steal a game on the road in this series. Losing this one would be catastrophic. Chicago knows that it is going to want to flex its muscles to get the job done against the 76ers relatively quickly to try to stay out of more injury woes for the rest of the playoffs. The Bulls are still legit, and they’ll prove it with another double-digit win on Tuesday.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Chicago Bulls -6.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks Game 2
Date: Tuesday, May 1st, 7:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Atlanta -4.5 (172.5)

The Celtics couldn’t hit an outside shot to save their lives in Game 1 of this series, and in the end, momentum just worked against them every step of the way in what turned out to be an ugly loss. Rajon Rondo is going to sit this one out after bumping a ref and getting suspended for this game, and it doesn’t seem like Ray Allen is going to be ready to go either. That being said, this is a scary spot for the C’s, who are going to have to go into this one with a big time hole to fill at the point guard spot. Jeff Teague, Kirk Hinrich, and the rest of the Atlanta frontcourt could have a field day, and that means that the Hawks are going to be easy winners to go up 2-0 in this series.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Atlanta Hawks -4.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Lakers Game 2
Date: Tuesday, May 1st, 10:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Los Angeles -5 (200)

28-7. That’s the mark that the Lakers are at home this year. We still really don’t think that the oddsmakers are giving them enough credit for having this home court advantage, especially against a Denver team that has failed to cover three in a row in this series and is typically a horrible team on the road. Simply put, if Kobe goes off for 30+ points in this one again, and the bigs continue to at least put forth good efforts, the Nuggets are in a heck of a lot of trouble, and we just don’t see that changing here at Staples Center this week.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Los Angeles Lakers -5

Now that the 2012 NBA playoffs have started, we are going to be taking a bit closer look at the odds to win the NBA Finals. These NBA betting lines, courtesy of JustBet Sportsbook, are some of the best that you will find on the internet, and we are going to be doing our best to find the best NBA Finals odds out there for you to bet on basketball!

2012 NBA Finals Odds (Updated 5/1/12)

Miami Heat +140
Oklahoma City Thunder +380
San Antonio Spurs +450
Los Angeles Lakers +1100
Chicago Bulls +1350
Boston Celtics +2800
Memphis Grizzlies +3300
Los Angeles Clippers +3300
Indiana Pacers +5500
Dallas Mavericks +6000
Atlanta Hawks +7500
Denver Nuggets +12500
Philadelphia 76ers +15000
Orlando Magic +15000
New York Knicks +16000

2012 NBA Finals Pick #1: San Antonio Spurs (+450 at SportBet Sportsbook): With all apologies being handed over to the Heat and the Thunder, the Spurs might be the scariest team in the league this year. They might be waltzing into the Western Conference Finals, as we really don’t see the Jazz making any sort of a comeback, and both the Clippers and the Grizzlies are clearly flawed teams that have a heck of a lot of work to do to be able to compete with this squad. Head Coach Gregg Popovich knows that this is a team that has all of the makings of a title squad this year, but then again, it did last year as well, and we see where that ended it. That being said, the Spurs are legit this year and should be backed right now at whatever reasonable price you can get… because it is only going down from here!

2012 NBA Finals Pick #2: Chicago Bulls (+1350 at SportBet Sportsbook): Can we ask what the Bulls really have done wrong over the course of their first game in the playoffs? Sure, they lost Derrick Rose for the rest of the year. Big deal. They didn’t have Rose for the mass majority of the season. CJ Watson proved to be a capable backup, especially when the likes of Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah, and Luol Deng were playing well. Richard Hamilton appears ready to take over a bit bigger role in the postseason, and the bench is still as deep as that of any team in the league. We aren’t afraid of Boston at this point, and we know that Atlanta doesn’t have the goods to be able to beat this team either. At that point, we’ll take our chances against the Heat, knowing that our Bulls will have home court advantage over the course of that series. We just don’t understand the humongous drop from approximately 4 to 1 to almost 14 to 1 on Chicago just because of the ACL injury to Rose.

2012 NBA Finals Pick #3: Orlando Magic (+15000 at SportBet Sportsbook): The idea of sticking around with the Magic just isn’t all that great, but in the end, we think that they are going to be a valuable pick here, especially if they can find their way out of the first round of the playoffs. Yes, the chances of beating the Heat in the second round are slim, but they aren’t 150 to 1 slim. Save for really an atrocious third quarter in Game 2, the Magic have been every bit as good as the Pacers in these first two games of this series, and that is a good sign going forward for the rest of the postseason. We haven’t seen Orlando really catch fire yet from the outside, and we do think that it is going to happen at some point. We pity the team that it happens to though, as this can become one of the most prolific shooting teams in the league when it is on.

The NBA playoffs get started on Saturday with a four-pack of great games. Check out our NBA free picks for the playoffs and check out our NBA handicappers’ expert picks!

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Philadelphia 76ers @ Chicago Bulls Game 1
Date: Saturday, April 28th, 1:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Chicago -8.5 (175.5)

The Bulls and the Sixers are two teams that try to play ball a heck of a lot like each other. They both try to play lockdown defense, and they both try to slow it down offensively. Just one problem for the Sixers, though… They don’t have Derrick Rose, nor do they have any of the other big time scorers like Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah, and the likes that the Bulls do. On the road, this is just going to be an ugly series in all likelihood, and we think that it is going to get started with a romp at the United Center. Now that Rose is back and healthy, there just isn’t a team that is going to be able to hang around with this one for quite some time in the playoffs.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Chicago Bulls -8.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: New York Knicks @ Miami Heat Game 1
Date: Saturday, April 28th, 3:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Miami -8.5 (186.5)

Many think that the Heat are going to do to the Knicks what we think the Bulls are going to do to the 76ers. That being said, we don’t know if that’s really the case or not. The Heat are great, and they have a heck of a lot of talent with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, but the rest of this support squad just isn’t all that good. Head Coach Erik Spoelstra just hasn’t been able to get his rotation quite right for the postseason, and this is a bad time to try to learn on the go in the first round of the playoffs against a very dangerous team. Carmelo Anthony is as good as any player in the league right now, and if he can get going in this one, he might be able to single handedly win this series. We’ll take the points for sure.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: New York Knicks +8.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Orlando Magic @ Indiana Pacers Game 1
Date: Saturday, April 28th, 7:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Indiana -9 (191)

The Magic have had a great history of late against the Pacers, winning five of the last six games both from an SU and an ATS perspective. That being said, Dwight Howard played in all of those games, and he obviously isn’t going to be around for this series. It’s tough to handicap when the Magic are really going to be on their shooting game, but we just aren’t ready to back them in this one. Indiana is the better team in this series, and though we do think that Orlando is going to win a game in this series with its sharp shooting (and maybe more than that), this probably won’t be the game that it happens in.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Indiana Pacers -9

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Dallas Mavericks @ Oklahoma City Thunder Game 1
Date: Saturday, April 28th, 9:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Oklahoma City -7.5 (194)

Of all eight series in the first round of the playoffs, this is the most intriguing one to say the least. The Thunder really didn’t match up well with the Mavericks last year when these two teams met in the Western Conference Finals. However, one of the men that really gave a problem to OKC last year, Tyson Chandler isn’t back with the champs. Dirk Nowitzki is still going to be a star in this series for Dallas, and we still think that he is going to at least be able to stick around with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in this first game of this series. We still think that Oklahoma City is the right side, though, and it should take Game 1 in a very tight one.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Dallas Mavericks +7.5

Beating the basketball odds is never something that is all that easy, but here at Cappers Info, we are going to be taking aim at some of the best games on the NBA TV schedule on April 29th! Don’t miss these free NBA picks!

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Utah Jazz @ San Antonio Spurs Game 1
Date: Sunday, April 29th, 1:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: San Antonio -10.5 (207)

The Jazz have had a good history against the Spurs, sticking inside of the number of two of the three games in this series. This is a heck of a point spread for the first game of the playoffs, knowing that San Antonio is coming off of a series last year against Memphis in which it choked in the first round and ended up getting knocked out. Though we don’t think that the boys in silver and black, with a significantly deeper team this year, will be facing the same type of embarrassment against such a young Utah team this year, we do think that the Jazz are the right play with all of these points on our side in Game 1.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Utah Jazz +10.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Lakers Game 1
Date: Sunday, April 29th, 3:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Los Angeles -5.5 (202)

We have a sneaking suspicion that the Nuggets are going to take one of these two games at Staples Center to start off this series. Denver doesn’t really have a team chock full of stars, but there are enough players that would be able to throw the book at Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum to keep up. Danilo Gallinari has to be a key contributor in this one, but if he can knock down some shots from the outside and the bigs like JaVale McGee and Kenneth Faried can keep up with Bynum and Gasol, the Nuggets have a real chance at the upset. We just think that this is too many points to be giving a good team that is playing really solid basketball at the moment.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Denver Nuggets +5.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks Game 1
Date: Sunday, April 29th, 7:00 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Atlanta -1.5 (179)

It’s not often that we say that a Game 1 is going to change the course of an entire series, but we really feel like this is the type of game that the Hawks just can’t lose. The Celtics are the higher seed, but they are going to have to play on the road to start this series out, and they are going to clearly be in their last hurrah as a competing team for a few years in all likelihood. The Hawks are deep enough to get the job done and make this series competitive even though they are the underdogs in this game, and we think that they are going to get out of Phillips Arena with a much deserved and very close victory to start this series over the weekend.

NBA Playoffs Free Pick: Atlanta Hawks -1.5

NBA Playoffs Matchup: Los Angeles Clippers @ Memphis Grizzlies Game 1
Date: Sunday, April 29th, 9:30 ET
NBA Playoffs Lines: Memphis -5 (185)

There is a real question as to whether these two teams should be sharing a court or not in the first round of the playoffs. The Clippers were the better team over the course of the first half of the year, but now that Memphis is healthy and ready to go, it is clear to us which one of these two squads is in better shape. The defenders in the interior for the Grizz are just better than that of Los Angeles, and we think that Blake Griffin could have a bit of a difficult time in this one at times. We just don’t see how the Clippers are going to come on the road and stay competitive in the first game of the postseason, and knowing how close this spread is makes it all the more enticing to take the Grizzlies.

The eight series in the NBA playoffs get underway this weekend with a slew of action on the hardwood. Check out how we stack up the NBA series prices and the NBA futures odds that are on the board for this weekend!

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Chicago Bulls Series Preview & Pick

The Bulls are clearly the better team in this series, and the only question is whether the series is going to end up being a sweep or not. The 76ers just don’t have the offense to be able to keep up with a team that has a ton of talent on both sides of the court. Derrick Rose being back in the fold is going to make a heck of a lot of a difference in this series, and even if he only averages 25 minutes per game, it should be more than enough for Chicago to make quick, quick work of the worst team in the playoffs as we see it.

Chicago Bulls in 4 (-1350)

New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat Series Preview & Pick

The Heat really can’t like the fact that they are stuck in this draw against the Knicks, knowing that they are facing a team that has the talent to be one of the best teams in the league. Carmelo Anthony is just on fire at the moment, and the Knicks are playing great team defense with Tyson Chandler manning the fort in the paint and Iman Shumpert doing the guarding on the outside. In the end though, we do think that Miami is going to find some way, whether by hook or by crook, to get the job done in this series, though we do think that New York is going to put up a heck of a lot more of a fight than most think.

Miami Heat in 6 (-900)

Orlando Magic vs. Indiana Pacers Series Preview & Pick

Many are just writing off the Magic at this point, knowing that they are coming into this series without Dwight Howard, the heart and soul of their team. That being said, we think that Head Coach Stan Van Gundy is one of the best coaches in the NBA, and he can find a way to tighten the ropes around the Pacers, who are really playing for the first time in the playoffs as the “favored” team since Reggie Miller retired. Indiana has had no luck over the course of the last two years or so with Orlando, granted, with Howard playing in the lineup. That being said, the sharpshooters that the Magic have at their disposal might be able to win this series by themselves. Against better competition, this theory won’t work, but against Indiana, there is definitely a real chance that Orlando finds a way out of this series.

Orlando Magic in 7 (+600)

Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Series Preview & Pick

Last year when these two teams met, the Thunder were the slight favorites to win the series and move on to the NBA Finals. Little did we know that Dallas’ defense was going to carry the way once again past the Lakers and the Thunder and all the way to the team’s first ever title. This is a different year, though. Fortunately, James Harden is healthy after taking that wicked elbow from Metta World Peace just a week ago, and he, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant make up the best scoring trio in the league. The experience that this Oklahoma City team has picked up over the course of the last two years should serve it well. We just don’t think that Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks have the horses this year to get the job done.

Oklahoma City Thunder in 5 (-500)

Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs Series Preview & Pick

The Spurs made the mistake last year of losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Grizzlies as the No. 1 seed, and we just don’t see how they are going to be making that same mistake again. The Jazz are a very young team, and many of the players that are going to be on the court are going to be playing in their first playoff series. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan aren’t going to let San Antonio fail again, and even if they aren’t at their best, there are just too many players that have the ability to go off for big time scoring games to keep this team down. The strength in numbers is there for the Spurs, and though Utah has had a good history of sticking around with this team, we just don’t see it happening this time around.

San Antonio Spurs in 5 (-2150)

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers Series Preview & Pick

The Lakers are certainly not a lock to get out of the first round of the playoffs this year. Metta World Peace is going to be sidelined for the first six games of this series after throwing that elbow at James Harden last weekend, and that is going to make the supporting cast for Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum. The Nuggets are going to use their depth to try to counter the Lakers, and as we have seen in the past, it is possible to frustrate the heck out of this team, even here in the playoffs. We do think that LA is going to survive, but in the end, it is going to be a very tough series that goes the distance.

Los Angeles Lakers in 7 (-240)

Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks Series Preview & Pick

What an odd series this is! The Celtics are the better of these two teams, and they are the higher seed, but the Hawks are going to start off at home after finishing with a better record. This is really the closest thing to a tossup series that we have in the first round, and we still believe that the Hawks can find their way to three victories out of four games at home, along with scratching out a ‘W’ on the road at some point. The C’s have played a lot better ball in the second half of the season, but we think that window of opportunity for another title for Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce gets slammed shut at some point over the course of the next two weeks.

Atlanta Hawks in 6 (+165)

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Memphis Grizzlies Series Preview & Pick

The Grizzlies and Clippers fought it out for the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 seeds right until the end of the season, and in the end, the Grizz got the best of the Clips to get home court advantage. This has been a brutal travel schedule for LA, which has had to go from New York back to LA, and now over to Memphis in a relatively short stretch of time. To make matters worse, Blake Griffin, a man who really isn’t a great defender, is going to have to deal with Zach Randolph and the rest of the bigs for the Grizz in the paint. In the end, this just doesn’t look like a pretty series for Los Angeles, knowing that it has had an absolutely atrocious time trying to win big games on the road this year.

Memphis Grizzlies in 5 (-210)

San Antonio Spurs (+450): It’s hard to believe that we are going to go against the Heat, Bulls, and Thunder, but in the end, we think that the Spurs have the best chance of the four big teams in the league to win the whole thing this year. They are the deepest team in basketball, and they have one of the best coached teams in the game as well with Head Coach Gregg Popovich calling the shots. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili give the team the veteran leadership that it needs, and there is just no way that this team is going to get bounced early from the playoffs for a second straight year against a team like the Memphis Grizzlies. We really, really like what the Spurs bring to the table this year for sure on the NBA Finals odds.

New York Knicks (+3000): The Knicks aren’t the best team in the world, but we think that they can give the Heat fits in the first round of the playoffs. Carmelo Anthony really has played like the league’s MVP over the course of the last month and a half or so, and Amare Stoudemire is back in the fold now as well. Iman Shumpert has become a clutch defensive player, and Steve Novak can hit shots from anywhere in the building. Tyson Chandler was the man that led to all of the upsets in the playoffs last year for the Mavericks with his defensive play. There is no doubt that the Knicks are in a better position to win the NBA title right now than they have been since Patrick Ewing was on the team.

Dallas Mavericks (+4500): The Mavs look to be pushovers with the way that they played at the end of the regular season. Yes, there are a lot of players that are no longer on this team from last year’s squad, and it really has to hurt to think that Dallas is going to be up against it once again this year. That being said, the Mavericks had the goods to beat the Thunder last year in a series in which the foes had the home court advantage, so why not do it again? Jason Terry can get on fire, and Dirk Nowitzki is still one of the best players in the entire league, so there is no reason to count the Mavs out at this point.

Orlando Magic (+20000): Okay, we promise that we aren’t certifiably insane. We do believe that Miami could be in some trouble in the first round of the playoffs, and if that ends up being the case, all of a sudden, Orlando looks like a team that might have a shot. Yes, there is no Dwight Howard in the fold, and we aren’t so naive as to think that this is one of the best teams in the league. That being said though, the Magic do have some big time shooters with Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick, Jason Richardson, and Ryan Anderson, and if Glen Davis can come up big in the paint just as he used to with the Boston Celtics from yesteryear, this could all of a sudden get a tad interesting. Remember that Indiana really played poorly against the Magic this year, winning just one of the four games. If the Magic and Knicks can somehow advantage, we might be talking about a team here that is 200 to 1 to win it all that is playing with nothing to lose and with home court advantage. All of the Dwight drama is officially gone, and the team knows that anything more than it accomplishes outside of a loss in about five games to the Pacers is gravy.
