Football Tipster Sports Picks: Cowboys @ Redskins NFL Pick 12/30

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Sunday NFL odds pits the Washington Redskins against the Dallas Cowboys. These two are going to be meeting at 4:25 p.m. ET at FedEx Field, and I’m going to show you which side to make your NFL pick on for this great game.

Dallas Cowboys (8-7, 6-9 ATS) +3.5
Washington Redskins (9-6, 10-5 ATS) -3.5
Over/Under 49.5

As much as I hate to make a teaser play in a game like this one, I still think that it is the right play to make when push comes to shove. This is a traditional rivalry game that has featured the underdog covering five games in a row, and each of the five meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less. That means that Dallas is going to be off to a great start in this game at +10.5 in a teaser in a game that really feels like it should be lined at a pick ‘em and not at minus the value of home field advantage.

The first meeting of these two teams featured 69 total points, but I think that was a bit of an anomaly. Prior to that game, the seven games before that in this series averaged just 31.2 points per game, and that’s in spite of the fact that one of those games reached 66 total points in Big D in 2010. The games here in DC have all been relatively low scoring over the years as well, averaging just 33.1 points per game allowed in the last 11 years.

In the end, I just don’t know that QB Robert Griffin III is ready for this stage. I know what I’m getting out of QB Tony Romo. I’m getting a guy that is going to make this a close game and is liable to really screw the pooch in the end. As long as RB DeMarco Murray keeps getting the ball and Head Coach Jason Garrett doesn’t get too impatient, this should be a game that Dallas holds Washington in the 20s and keeps this one ‘under’ the teaser number as well.
