Rory McIlroy (+1155): McIlroy really doesn’t play as much on the PGA Tour as we would like to see him, but when he has this year, he has been remarkable. He started the campaign off with three Top 3 finishes, and now, he also has a win at the PGA Championship to show for his work. McIlroy is clearly one of the best golfers in the world, and we just don’t think that there is ever really a circumstance in which he should be more than 10 to 1 to win any event that he is entering from the get go. Expect a better effort out of McIlroy this week than his -1 last week at The Barclays.
Lee Westwood (+2800): Westy always seems to be a bridesmaid, but he is never a bride. This is a man that has had five finishes this year in the Top 5 of tournaments, but he hasn’t finished better than tied for third in any of them. That being said, we also have to remember that he has only played in 12 tournaments this year, and finishing in the Top 5 in five of them is a remarkable feat. We have seen Westwood play well in big time tournaments before, and we think that he has some great value here at 28 to 1, as he is going to win one of these events sooner than later.
Adam Scott (+3600): Again, we really think that we are getting a nice price on Scott in this tournament. Scott, just like Westwood, doesn’t have a victory this year, but he does have just a slew of great rounds. In fact, a 77 in the third round of The Memorial this year was his only round in which he shot worse than a 75 for the whole year. He also has had a lot of rounds in the high-60s, and that type of consistency is something that we love to see. Scott has three finishes of 11th or better in his last five events entered, and we’ll take our chances with a man this good in a tournament like this all the time.
