If Arkansas is going to get into the NCAA Tournament, it is going to have to prove that it can win some games on the road. Unfortunately, the Razorbacks only have a single legitimate road win, that coming against the Auburn Tigers, and they have one neutral court win against the 10-19 Alabama A&M Bulldogs. The club probably should have lost to Missouri the first time that these two teams met, as that was a game that came down to the wire at Bud Walton Arena and ended with a bunch of turnovers on the Tigers in the dying possessions of the game. This time around, we think that Missouri is going to have that killer instinct to get the job done when push comes to shove. G Phil Pressey and the gang are going to put the press on an Arkansas team that hasn’t coped well with the dose of its own medicine on the road this year, and F Alex Oriakhi and the bigs should dominate on the glass. Missouri had 17 more rebounds than Arkansas did in the first meeting of the year, and the only thing that really kept the Hogs in it was forcing 17 turnovers. That won’t happen again in this one, and the Tigers should roll to an easy ‘W’.

The Razorbacks and the Tigers are two of these teams that are going to need wins like this one to have a chance to get into the NCAA Tournament. The Hogs have already proven that they can beat the big time teams in the SEC here at home when they beat the Florida Gators up two weeks ago. The team has only been beaten once this year here at Bud Walton Arena. Missouri used its stifling defense to take care of the Mississippi State Bulldogs during the week, but this is a much different challenge. The team has won two games in a row though, and that could be what the Tigers need to get into the dance when push comes to shove. The key to this game is going to be the way that the Arkansas ball handlers end up dealing with the pressure that is given to them by the Missouri defense. Obviously, Mississippi State didn’t do it all that well, as it turned the ball over 15 times. The key number is 10. Keep it under 10, and Arkansas is going to win this game. We think that it is going to do just that and ultimately take care of the Tigers.

There are times in conference play, regardless of what league you’re in and how good you are, where you just get beaten by inferior teams. It happens all the time. It happened to Louisville. It happened to Duke. It happened to Michigan. And it’s going to happen at some point to Florida. This is a nice spot for that to happen in. The men in orange and blue were just favored by 17.5 points at home against a very good Ole Miss team that is almost certainly going to be dancing this year. Of course, the Rebs were playing with a very short bench, which is why the spread was so high, and they did find a way to cover the number in the game. However, it didn’t dismiss the domination which Florida showed for most of the game. The Razorbacks have been awesome at home all year long though, losing just one game to the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse might be a better team than Florida is, but regardless, we know that it is a comparable game. The Hogs have proven that they can run with any team in America, and they are going to run as fast as they can at the Gators to try to get them off their game. If they do that, maybe… just maybe… there will be an upset in the cards on Tuesday night.

Last year at the end of the non-conference slate, Arkansas knocked off Michigan by a bucket in Fayetteville. Now, the two teams are going to collide again at Crisler Arena, and the oddsmakers are probably going to make the mistake of making Big Blue a big, big favorite on the college basketball odds. The Hogs have been victims of a tough schedule thus far this year. Losing those three games to Arizona State (less forgivable), Wisconsin (most forgivable), and Syracuse (most forgivable) aren’t anything to apologize over, but the truth of the matter is that wins like this one are going to have to be had to have a chance to get the team into the NCAA Tournament this year. G BJ Young needs to shoot the ball better from the outside, but if that ever starts to happen, watch out! This could be a team to really look out for come March Madness. Michigan is the better of these two teams, and it is the deeper of the two teams for sure, but this time of year, we aren’t really fond of backing teams that are double digit favorites under most any circumstance. We think that Arkansas is a bit of an underrated team, and it will at least stick inside of the college basketball point spread on Saturday.

Arkansas vs. Michigan Pick: Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas vs. Michigan Prediction: Michigan 71 – Arkansas 64

Friday night on the hardwood will be a heck of a lot of fun for the SEC, as it has to contend with the Big East in the challenge that the league have against one another. The Razorbacks seem to be massively overmatched by the No. 15 ranked team in America, but we have reason to believe otherwise. Namely, that reason is G BJ Young. This kid is just out of this world, and though he is only a sophomore, he might be able to make a real name for himself on the national spotlight at home on Friday night. Young is averaging 20.5 points per game this year, and he was considered a true coup in recruiting when he started off last year in Fayetteville. Syracuse has itself a heck of a team once again this year, and though Head Coach Jim Boeheim always reloads instead of rebuilds, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t insanely difficult to figure out how to replace Fab Melo, Dion Waiters, Scoop Jardine, and Kris Joseph. Last year’s team overachieved, and it overachieved with all of these pieces in place. This year’s squad just shouldn’t be as good in all likelihood. That 4-0 start to the season has been great for the Orange, but they’ll fall flat on Friday night in Fayetteville in the biggest upset of the Big East/SEC Challenge.

Syracuse vs. Arkansas Pick: Arkansas Razorbacks
Syracuse vs. Arkansas Prediction: Arkansas 79 – Syracuse 77

Week 13 pointspreads are out, and here at Cappers Info, we are set to analyze the college football odds for one of the top games on the slate. The LSU Tigers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks odds are posted, and we are set to make our CFB picks for another great game.

Week 13 College Football Picks: LSU Tigers @ Arkansas Razorbacks
Date: Friday, November 23rd, 2:30 ET
Location: Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, AR
CFB Betting Odds: LSU -12.5
LSU vs. Arkansas Live TV: ABC

Just a word of warning here for the Bayou Bengals: Watch out, or your BCS bowl dreams will be going up in flames in Fayetteville. We just look at this LSU team and remain unimpressed. The offense? Five great rushers, one great receiver, one quarterback with potential. No stars. The defense? Just allowed 35 to Ole Miss and has really looked relatively humane this year. The schedule? Okay, the win over A&M was nice, but the struggle at Auburn looks really, really bad right now, and the loss at Florida was a lot worse than 14-6 indicates. Meanwhile, here come the Hogs, who are full of talent but are totally void of results this year. Sure, this team has failed to cover four in a row, and sure it is clearly one of the most underachieving teams in the land. But still, this is the LSU/Arkansas rivalry, where all of the games from 2005 through 2010 were decided by a single score and two were decided in overtime. We think that Arkansas will find a way to lose this game, but we think that it is going to be mighty, mighty close.

LSU @ Arkansas Pick: Arkansas Razorbacks +12.5
LSU @ Arkansas Score Prediction: LSU 20 – Arkansas 19

Week 11 College Football Picks: Arkansas Razorbacks @ South Carolina Gamecocks
Date: Saturday, November 10th, 12:00 ET
Location: Williams Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC
CFB Betting Odds: South Carolina -14
Arkansas vs. South Carolina Live TV: CBS

Watch out, Gamecocks! Arkansas is playing a heck of a lot better football right now than it was at the outset of the season, and this is a winnable game for sure for a team that needs to win two out of three to get to a bowl game this year. South Carolina is a team that really looks like it has been delivered its deathblow. It beat the Tennessee Volunteers, but it didn’t beat them by much, and it was a loss that really doesn’t look good at this point. Over the course of the last six years in this series, the Razorbacks have averaged 456.2 yards per game, and they are 5-1 SU and ATS in these games. The Gamecocks had better get their passing game together with QB Connor Shaw, or someone had better figure out how to run the ball with RB Marcus Lattimore out, because otherwise, this one will be ending in an upset. It’s definitely something that is very believable.

Arkansas @ South Carolina Pick: Arkansas +14
Arkansas @ South Carolina Score Prediction: Arkansas 27 – South Carolina 21

This is as ugly of a game as you are going to see this year in the SEC West. Auburn and Arkansas both have all of the talent in the world, and both really should be teams in the Top 25 in the country. Unfortunately, both have underachieved and underachieved mightily, and now, they are going to be playing against one another. The offenses for these two teams have been awful all year long, and we think that that is going to continue when push comes to shove. Anything could happen in this one in terms of which team is going to win, and about the only thing that we guarantee is the fact that the losing team is going to be put further into turmoil. However, the easier play in our eyes is that neither of these teams will touch the 30s.

Arkansas @ Auburn Pick: Arkansas/Auburn Under 56
Arkansas @ Auburn Score Prediction: Auburn 24 – Arkansas 20

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Week 5 Saturday college football odds pits the Texas A&M Aggies against the Arkansas Razorbacks. These two are going to be meeting at 12:20 p.m. ET at Kyle Field, and I’m going to show you which side to make your CFB pick on for this great game.

Arkansas Razorbacks (1-3, 0-3 ATS) +14.5
Texas A&M Aggies (3-0, 3-0 ATS) -14.5
Over/Under 66

Joe Public is leaning towards the Aggies in this one, but I just don’t see a justification for it. I haven’t seen the Aggies at their best this year, but I also haven’t seen anything out of this team that proves to me that it can beat a team that was once ranked in the Top 10 in the country just a few weeks ago either. Remember, the only time that A&M played against a team anywhere near as good as this was when it hosted Florida, a game in which it self-destructed.

I know that QB Tyler Wilson probably dug a grave for his team this year when he called the club out after taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide two weeks ago and getting shut out. However, the Hogs just aren’t this bad. They can’t be.

Arkansas has won three in a row SU in this series, and it has covered seven straight dating back to 1988. This is just too many points to be giving the Razorbacks in this one. This stage might be too big for QB Johnny Manziel in really his second major, major collegiate game at home. This should be a big effort from Arkansas in a bona fide rivalry game that, in my opinion anyway, could go either way.

Arkansas @ Texas A&M Tips: Arkansas +14.5

September 15th, 2012 By Jack Wilshire

Making sports betting picks is one of my specialties, and today, I’m making my Saturday night Football Tipster pick based upon the football trends and Week 3 college football odds for the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks game on Saturday, September 15th at 3:30 p.m.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (2-0, 2-0 ATS) -20
#21 Arkansas Razorbacks (1-1, 0-1 ATS) +20
Over/Under 53

The truth of the matter is that it is virtually impossible to justify backing Arkansas on really any level whatsoever. After all, QB Tyler Wilson is out of the lineup, and last year, the Hogs were beaten by 24 points in Tuscaloosa with a significantly better team.

However, this is exactly what Joe Public is saying as well. Even though the Crimson Tide are laying three touchdowns, there is still over 65% of the public that is better on them. What I remember, though, is that this Arkansas team still has a defense that can compete with some of the best teams in the SEC. Sure, last week, the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks ripped this team apart, but that was clearly a case of a game in which the Razorbacks underestimated their foes. They’ll be ready for this one.

It’s really, really tough for me to want to go against Alabama, but I still think that I have no choice but to go for it. Arkansas is 20-6 ATS in its last 26 games played at home and 20-8-1 ATS in its last 29 games against teams with a winning road record. Yes, the Tide are great, and yes, they are probably the best team in the country, but I just can’t see laying three TDs on the road at this point in the season in the first road game of the year for Alabama.

Alabama @ Arkansas Tips: Arkansas +20

CFB Betting Odds: Alabama -20.5
Alabama vs. Arkansas Live TV: CBS

This is going to be quite the easy call in our eyes to make, and we think that the whole world is going to just overthink this game. The oddsmakers have lined this game exactly right at three TDs, and within a field goal one way or the other, that’s how we expect it to go. However, there is a hidden gem of an ‘under’ play waiting in the wings. Yes, Alabama, has beaten the crap out of two teams this year, and there is no end in sight to the carnage that the team is going to create. This is still an SEC game though, and an SEC West game at that. The Tide aren’t going to be able to put 45 on the board in all likelihood. Arkansas still has an SEC defense. Of course, this offense is really going to be questionable at best after losing QB Tyler Wilson for the week, and we just don’t see how any freshman making his first career start is going to get anything going against one of the best defenses assembled in the country. The Razorbacks aren’t going to score a bunch. The Tide aren’t going to be able to run it up. It’s the perfect mix for another game that should be played in the 40s.

Alabama @ Arkansas Pick: Alabama/Arkansas Under 53.5
Alabama @ Arkansas Score Prediction: Alabama 31 – Arkansas 10

The Arkansas Razorbacks ended up being ineligible for the BCS this year, while the Kansas State Wildcats were almost certainly snubbed. That being said, the two should make for a great Cotton Bowl betting battle in Big D in a great standalone contest right in the middle of all of the BCS madness.

There is no doubt in our mind that these are two of the best ten teams in America, though the loser of this game is going to have a tough gripe to finish out the year ranked in the Top 10. Arkansas’ only two losses this year were to the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide, the two teams that are playing against each other in the BCS National Championship Game, and both games came on the road to boot. Kansas State was absolutely toasted by the Oklahoma Sooners before they fell apart, but in its other loss, it gave the Oklahoma State Cowboys a run for their money in Stillwater in a loss that we felt was almost as good as a win from the standpoint of the BCS once the Pokes crushed the Sooners in Bedlam.

There aren’t many out there that would argue about Arkansas being the favored team in this game. The Hogs have a tremendous offense with QB Tyler Wilson calling the shots. Sure, he struggled against the Bayou Bengals the last time that we saw him play, but who doesn’t? Against an atrocious schedule this year, Wilson still threw for 3,422 yards and 22 TDs against just six INTs. The talent at receiver on this team is immense. WR Greg Childs was injured for a good chunk of the year, and that’s why he only has 16 receptions, but WR Jarius Wright had 63 catches for 1,029 yards and 11 TDs, WR Cobi Hamilton averaged 16.6 yards per reception, and WR Joe Adams had 49 receptions for 630 yards. It’s amazing that this team had anything going on the ground this year, though. RB Broderick Green missed the majority of the season injured, and RB Knile Davis hasn’t taken a single snap all season long. RBs Dennis Johnson and Ronnie Wingo picked up the slack, but the hope that Davis might be able to get back in the lineup for this game because of the lateness of the bowl date is encouraging for the Razorbacks.

You absolutely cannot rest on this Kansas State side, though. Sure, the stats aren’t all that pretty. The team only ranked No. 97 in the nation in total offense at 343.4 yards per game, and it allowed 55 more yards per game than it managed. Sure, the pass defense ranked No. 105 in the land and has to go up against this ridiculous Arkansas unit this game. And sure, teams averaged 27.8 points per game against this defense against the 33.1 points scored. The schedule was soft. We know. The Wildcats caught the Baylor Bears and Missouri Tigers at home before they really got hot, got the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns after they got cold, and got incredibly lucky at times along the way. Teams like that shouldn’t be in bowl games like this one, but in this case, we think that there is a reason to believe that an upset could occur.

The biggest heart on the field is going to belong to QB Collin Klein. He’s a big boy at 6’5″, 226 lbs, but he just doesn’t have great receivers to work with. He’s a marginal passer, completing just 57.8 percent of his passes, and he only threw 12 scores on the campaign. That being said, he has some grit. He has rushed the football a whopping 293 times, an average of 24.4 times per game, and though he only picked up 3.8 yards per carry, he did score 26 times. There were only seven offensive touchdowns all year that didn’t either come from his legs or his arm. There’s a reason that this team won so many games. We love the heart and we love the intensity, and in the end, that will be enough to at least keep the Wildcats within a touchdown in the Cotton Bowl.

Free Cotton Bowl Pick: Kansas State +7.5
