And it all comes down to this… In what might amount to be one of the best World Series ever played, the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals come down to just one more game for all of the marbles. There are no baseball picks like our World Series Game 7 predictions, so be sure not to miss out here at Cappers Info!

Year To Date Record: 20-16 +$495
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Game 7
Date: Friday, October 28th, 8:05 ET
Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
MLB Playoffs Odds: St. Louis -145, Over/Under 8 (over -105)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

Common logic would tell you to go with the Cardinals in this game, and that’s inevitably the way that the mass majority of the general public is going to go. We’ll start with some logistics…

It’s fairly clear that Chris Carpenter is the better of the two pitchers on the mound in this game. The righty has thrown a pair of complete game shutouts, both of which came on short rest since the final day of the regular season, and though he has only led the team to a 20-19 mark in his 39 starts this year, Carpenter has been as good as the MVP for this team during the whole postseason push. Meanwhile, Matt Harrison has only pitched in three games in the playoffs, and in the most recent one, he was the scapegoat that got destroyed in the 16 run game in Game 3, aka the Albert Pujols show. There’s also home field advantage to contend with, as ridiculous as it is. This game should clearly be played in Arlington, but thanks to the whole “This One Counts” garbage, a team that has won 106 games, 58 of which came at home this year, has to go on the road against a team that just won its 100th game last night.

And that brings us to the luck of the Cardinals. This isn’t even a game that should rightfully be played at Busch Stadium. Then again, this wasn’t a team that should have been in the playoffs without the Atlanta Braves blowing an 8.5 game lead in September on the NL Wild Card… Nor was it a team that really should have still been alive when it sent Carpenter out on short rest of the second time in the series and for the third straight start in Game 5 on the road, at the best team in baseball, with their ace on the mound in Roy Halladay in a 1-0 game. Nor should the Cardinals have survived against the Milwaukee Brewers, who had home field advantage in the NLCS twice with the best home record in the game.

But surely… SURELY, the Cards were finished after Manager Tony La Russa and his whole bullpen gaffe in Game 5 in Arlington. Surely… right? Surely, with this team down 7-4 in the eighth inning and 7-5 with two outs and two strikes in the ninth inning, it was over! After all, no team had ever rallied from their final strike in the close out game of a World Series to force another game, and only two teams in the history of the game have ever come back from being down to their final out of the World Series to force another game. Of course, one of those was the biggest cursed team in the game, as the Boston Red Sox blew it against the New York Mets thanks to Bill Buckner…

But to come back from not just one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel, but essentially both already in the grave with just a morsel of a fingertip still clenching to the dirt above that grave, and to do it twice in consecutive innings… wow. Just wow. The power over the Cardinals just has to be greater than the power, even over the Red Sox for all those years with Buckner.

But call us contrarians. Call us numbers people. Call us whatever you want. We rolled with Texas for this series, and we are doing so again in Game 5.

Forget about the fact that Mike Napoli had to have an x-ray to determine if he had a broken hand on Thursday. Forget about the hamstring injury to Nelson Cruz, who now has the most home runs in a single postseason in league history. Forget about Carpenter. Forget about the karma.

In the end, the question that we have to ask ourselves is whether the Texas Rangers are winning this game often enough to be worthy of taking them at +135. Lady Luck aside, they’re the better team in this series, and they are probably in better shape in terms of their bullpen, and in the end, they will end up claiming their first World Series title after all. Remember how we talked about the Red Sox blowing it to the Mets in the World Series on their final out? The other team that lost a close out game in the World Series with just one more out to get ended up winning that series. It was the Philadelphia A’s… in 1911… 100 years later, history will finally repeat itself.

The Brewers and Cardinals have only faced each other for a grand total of three games in franchise history, but now, they’re about set to embark upon potentially seven games to decide the championship. Game 6 of our World Series picks are all set here at Cappers Info.

Year To Date Record: 19-16 +$395
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Game 6
Date: Wednesday, October 26th, 8:05 ET
Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
MLB Playoffs Odds: St. Louis -115, Over/Under 7.5 (over -105)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

We can only hope that Game 6 of the Fall Classic proves to be as exciting as Game 2 was when these same two pitchers were on the mound. Colby Lewis and Jaime Garcia combined to allow just one run in 13.2 innings of work. However, the fine performance by Garcia was squandered, as the suddenly bumbling St. Louis bullpen blew the game, the first of its two terrible showings in these playoffs.

Meanwhile, now it’s Texas that is one game away from winning the Fall Classic after taking two out of three in the Lone Star State. This has definitely not been the prettiest World Series for the Rangers, as they have been outscored by three runs in spite of its advantage in the series, but this is also the first time that the franchise can truly taste a championship.

In the end though, there’s a reason that the Cardinals are favored in this game, and that they will be in Game 7 as well. We aren’t going to count out the Redbirds yet, especially in their own backyard, and we think, at minimum, this one will be forced into a seventh and decisive game on Thursday night. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 6 Predictions: St. Louis -115

And now we’re down to just three games to determine the odds to win the 2011 World Series Championship. The Texas Rangers are likely facing a must win in this one, as they have to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 5 of the Fall Classic, where the winner will be one step from a title, and the loser will be one step from elimination going back to St. Louis for Game 6.

Year To Date Record: 18-16 +$295
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 5
Date: Monday, October 24th, 8:05 ET
Location: Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Arlington, TX
MLB Playoffs Odds: Texas -125, Over/Under 8 (over -110)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

Sometimes in life, you’re just downright wrong, and that’s what we were on Sunday for Game 4. We never picture Derek Holland tossing 8.1 shutout innings of two hit ball, but the playoffs make for some strange heroes at times, especially in this sport. If Texas were to go on and win this series, one would think that Holland would have a shot at MVP honors, as well as Mike Napoli, who hit the three run homer that really put the game away on Sunday, his second home run of the series.

Game 1 was a well pitched game all around, though neither starting pitcher lasted as long as he probably would have wanted. Now, it’s Chris Carpenter vs. CJ Wilson once again, this time with the setting being Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and not Busch Stadium. For all of the pomp and circumstance that has been given to Carpenter, he has only pitched out of the sixth inning one time in these playoffs in four starts, and that win in Game 5, as good as it was, over the Philadelphia Phillies, was his only start in which he threw 90 pitches. On the same hand, for as bad as CJ Wilson has been, his team has continued to at least stay in games with him on the mound, and if he can do just that again on Monday night, the Rangers will have a great chance to take their first lead in this series.

In the end, this is just too important for the Texas franchise to lose this game. The Rangers have to have this one, as winning two do or die games on the road is nearly impossible with a championship hanging in the balance. This is a short price at home on Texas’ best pitcher, and we plan on taking full advantage of just that. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 5 Predictions: Texas -120

The St. Louis Cardinals came on the road last night and destroyed the home field advantage that the Texas Rangers had in the World Series. Now, the two teams battle it out on Sunday night, and we set to make our Game 4 World Series Picks.

Year To Date Record: 18-15 +$415
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 4
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 8:05 ET
Location: Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Arlington, TX
MLB Playoffs Odds: Texas -170, Over/Under 9.5 (over -120)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

Mr. Pujols just added a whole bunch of zeroes to the back end of his paycheck for next season when he cashes in via free agency. He blasted three home runs on Saturday, making some World Series history in the making, and the 16-7 romp in Arlington in Game 3 totally made everyone forget about his Game 2 blunder that made this a tied series.

What we have to now remember is that St. Louis has been a tremendous road warrior team of late. The team dropped double digits worth of runs on the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park twice in the NLCS, and they won their last two road games of the NLDS as well against the Philadelphia Phillies. Now, in Arlington, where the Rangers had played great ball this postseason, the Cardinals had their best showing, putting 16 runs on the board.

Now, it’s up to Edwin Jackson to extend that lead. Derek Holland has already led the Rangers to 22 wins this year, including the postseason. Both of these teams have averaged getting a ton of runs per game, a combined 12.4 runs, in fact, and these two bullpens have to be smashed after throwing just a ton of frames (mostly unsuccessful). These two arms just aren’t all that great and haven’t been good in the playoffs, especially in the LCS. Jackson lasted just two innings in the 12-6 win at Milwaukee the last time out, while Holland only made in a total of 7.1 innings in his last two starts combined. All of the makings are there for another high scoring shootout in the Lone Star State, though of course, we don’t expect to see 23 runs on the board. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 6 Predictions: St. Louis/Texas Over 9.5

Two games have been split thus far in the 2011 Fall Classic, and we continue with our Game 3 World Series picks between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night.

Year To Date Record: 17-15 +$245
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 3
Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 8:05 ET
Location: Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Arlington, TX
MLB Playoffs Odds: Texas -180, Over/Under 9.5 (over -110)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

We’re just not all that sure that the Cardinals are really done for in this series in spite of the fact that Albert Pujols booted a relay throw that might have ultimately cost them Game 2 of the World Series. This is still a level series, and winning just one out of three here in Texas will send the series back to the Gateway to the West for decisive Games 6 and potentially 7. Plus, the Rangers look absolutely beatable, as their offense has been shoddy at best over the course of the first two games of this series.

The bad news is that this isn’t a good pitching matchup at all for the Redbirds. Kyle Lohse is a complete and utter gas can, and he has pitched horribly in these playoffs. The righty only led his team to a 17-15 record this year including the postseason, and there’s a reason that he has basically been buried for as long as possible since Game 1 of the NLDS.

The good news though, is that Matt Harrison isn’t all that much better. Harrison has only pitched 10 innings in these playoffs. He has allowed eight hits and five walks against a dozen strikeouts in two games, and he has conceded a total of just four runs. The good news is that he has kept the ball in the park, allowing just one homer in his last 10 appearances, but we still don’t have any sort of confidence that he really should be laying -180 in a game in which he isn’t definitively the better pitcher and his Texas team isn’t definitively the better team. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 6 Predictions: St. Louis +170

After having taken a 1-0 series lead on Wednesday night, the St. Louis Cardinals will look to seize control of the 2011 World Series when they take on the Texas Rangers. Check out our World Series Game 2 picks.

Year To Date Record: 16-15 +$145
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals Game 2
Date: Thursday, October 20th, 8:05 ET
Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
MLB Playoffs Odds: St. Louis -115, Over/Under 8 (over -115)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

Save for really one mistake pitch by Chris Carpenter, the Cardinals got a terrific start out of their ace on Wednesday night. The righty went six frames and allowed just a two run homer to Mike Napoli. The bullpen took it from there, pitching spotless baseball over three innings to get the job done and to close the first game of this series out.

Now it’s up to Jaime Garcia, who will be making his first ever start in the Fall Classic on Thursday night. The lefty has had a mixed bag of results in the postseason. He allowed a run in 4.2 innings of work against the Milwaukee Brewers in his second start of the NLCS, but he also allowed six runs in four innings in his first outing. So far in the playoffs, Garcia is 0-2 with a 5.74 ERA, but he has really not pitched all that poorly in two of those three starts. Garcia will oppose Colby Lewis. The righty pitched well in the playoffs last year, allowing just five runs in 26.1 innings of work, and he ended up going 3-0 in his four starts. This year, Lewis is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA, and he hasn’t looked nearly as good.

Still, we have more confidence right now in Lewis than in Garcia. We tend to think that this is going to be a series which goes back and forth the whole way, and we wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t a team that wins more than two in a row, if even that in this series. Count on Texas to get the job done to send this series back to Arlington all tied up at a game apiece. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 6 Predictions: Texas -105

There are a ton of players that have to think that they can be the World Series MVP this year. Check out our World Series MVP odds picks to cash in at Cappers Info!

Year To Date Record: 15-15 +$45
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

World Series MVP Pick #1: Albert Pujols (+500 at Wager Web Sportsbook): It happens to be that Pujols probably should have won the NLCS MVP honors. He was good enough to get the job done in that series, and he is batting well over .400 for the playoffs. It is widely publicized knowledge that the first baseman is going to be the most sought after free agent in the offseason, and what better way to guarantee perhaps over $200 million, than by coming out and beating the World Series MVP odds?

World Series MVP Pick #2: Chris Carpenter (+1200 at Wager Web Sportsbook): With the way that Manager Tony LaRussa manages his team, would it be any surprise to see Carpenter end up getting a pair of starts and a relief appearance in this postseason? It is clear that Carpenter has been the best pitcher that St. Louis has had in this entire postseason, and he had one of the best starts that we have ever seen when he shut out the Philadelphia Phillies against Roy Halladay on the road in Game 5 of the NLDS. The potential is truly there for greatness from Carpenter, and though we don’t think that there are any other pitchers out there that we would back, we know that there has to be at least a 1 in 12 chance that Carpenter claims the World Series MVP title.

World Series MVP Pick #3: Josh Hamilton (+500 at Wager Web Sportsbook): First it was Adrian Beltre who came up big with three home runs against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS. Then it was Nelson Cruz who blasted off six times in six games in the ALCS against the Texas Rangers. Could it be Hamilton’s time to shine? There haven’t been a heck of a lot of home runs in the postseason by guys not named Beltre and Cruz for the Rangers, but we know that Hamilton is capable of doing this type of major damage as well. It’d be a fantastic story, as Hamilton would have officially completing his comeback from drug usage of the past to be a champion and a World Series MVP, and the story is just too good to pass up on. Hamilton doesn’t have a home run yet in the playoffs, but that will change before this series is said and done with.

The Brewers and Cardinals have only faced each other for a grand total of three games in franchise history, but now, they’re about set to embark upon potentially seven games to decide the championship. Game 1 of our World Series picks are all set here at Cappers Info.

Year To Date Record: 15-15 +$45
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

MLB Predictions: Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals
Date: Wednesday, October 19th, 8:05 ET
Location: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
MLB Playoffs Odds: St. Louis -125, Over/Under 7.5 (over -105)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: FOX

Game 1 of the World Series is always pivotal, as it seems as though the team that wins this game almost always wins the championship. That being said, it looks incredibly important right now that the Cardinals earned home field advantage in this series by virtue of the National League’s win in the All Star Game several months ago, as ridiculous as that rule might be.

Chris Carpenter is matched up with CJ Wilson in this one, and needless to say, it feels like this battle is night and day. Carpenter has a great postseason history, and he has had his moments of brilliance of late. He’s got two complete game shutouts in his last four starts, and the latter was arguably the best game ever pitched in the postseason, a 1-0 complete game on the road in Game 5 against the best team in baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies. Wilson, on the other hand, really only has one good start over the past two seasons in the playoffs, and he has an ERA of 8.02 and an 0-2 record in his three starts in these playoffs. Needless to say, this is a definite advantage to the hosts.

That being said, how on earth could we pick the Rangers if the Cards have such a great pitching edge, at least in the first two thirds of the game? Their lineup has been remarkable, and unlike Texas, it isn’t just one man that is carrying the load. You don’t score 15 runs on the run in a Game 6 of the NLCS without getting a complete effort, and that’s exactly what has happened for the Redbirds. They’ll claim Game 1 of this series with ease after running Wilson out of the contest relatively early. Expect another great start from Carpenter. St. Louis Cardinals @ Texas Rangers Game 6 Predictions: St. Louis -125

The Fall Classic is always one of the most hallowed events of the year on the sports calendar. Though we don’t think that there are many of you out there that predicted the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers playing for all of the marbles, we know that this should be a fantastic series. Check out out 2011 World Series preview.

Year To Date Record: 15-15 +$45
2011 Series Picks: 2-4, -$445

World Series Playoffs Picks: St. Louis Cardinals (+140 at Wager Web Sportsbook) vs. Texas Rangers: We know that the Rangers probably have the most complete team in baseball this year, but we are definitely questioning whether they are deserving of being a -160 favorite to win it all. The Cardinals are playing as well as any team in the bigs right now, really since the beginning of September, and they are averaging over seven runs per game since the start of the NLCS. In there was a 15 run outburst at Miller Park in the close out Game 6 to finish a job that virtually no one figured that they could complete. Remember that at the outset of the playoffs, this team had the longest MLB odds on the board to win it all.

The Cardinals definitely don’t have the advantage in the pitching staff, save for the fact that they have a legitimate ace in Chris Carpenter, something that the Rangers just don’t have. Save for Koji Uehara, there isn’t a pitcher in Manager Ron Washington’s bullpen that has allowed more than a single run in the postseason, including Scott Feldman, who has come into four games and has thrown nearly a complete game’s worth of spotless frames. The issue that we have with Texas is that we don’t really think that any of its starting pitchers are all that great. We know that the Cardinals didn’t end up getting to this point based upon their starters, as none lasted longer than five innings in a single game in the NLCS, but we have no confidence that this staff is holding up, especially with CJ Wilson and his 8.02 postseason ERA starting things off.

In the end, the Cardinals just have the hotter team right now. Sure, the Rangers have the experience from last season’s World Series run, but the team just isn’t as good now as it was then when it had Cliff Lee. Once again, Texas is going to fall just short, and the Redbirds are going to become arguably the most improbable World Series champions of all-time. NLCS Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals in 6

Two NL Central rivals will get it on in Brewer Country on Sunday for Game 6 of the NLCS. We make our NLCS predictions right here at Cappers Info!

Year To Date Record: 14-14 +$25
2011 Series Picks: 1-3 -$425

MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers
Date: Sunday, October 15th, 4:05 ET
Location: Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI
MLB Playoffs Odds: Milwaukee -130, Over/Under 8.5 (over -115)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: TBS

We know that the Brewers have won 47 of their last 60 home games and that they are 4-1 in the postseason at Miller Park, but there is something about the rest of this series that just rubs us the wrong way. We tend to think that the Cardinals have the advantage on the mound in both of these games in this mini-series in Milwaukee. If we were managing the Brewers, we’d skip Shaun Marcum in the rotation and go with Yovani Gallardo on short rest instead. Alas, that’s not what Milwaukee has elected to do, though we know that Marcum will have a short hook. He has arguably been the worst starting pitcher in the entire playoffs regardless of team, and he has been blasted for two losses already. Parlay all of that together with the fact that Edwin Jackson just continues to win games (the Cards are 10-4 in Jackson’s 14 starts since trading for him) and that the Redbirds have scored 6.0 runs per game in this series, and the choice is starting to become painfully clear to us. Though the Brewers have to be happy to know that their next four games, if there are four games, are all going to be played at Miller Park, we can’t underestimate the power of the Cardinals right now and their magical run. No one figured a few months ago that they would even be factors to get into the playoffs. Now, they’re going to be advancing to the World Series. St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers Game 6 Predictions: St. Louis +120
