Knicks Lead Series 3-2

If the Knicks know what’s good for them, now is the time that they will stop screwing around with the Celtics. New York was definitively the better team in the first three games of this series, but all of a sudden, things have started to go awry in a hurry. G JR Smith came back from suspension and immediately shot 3-of-14 from the floor in a total dud of a game. F Carmelo Anthony took far too many shots away from the basket, and you can tell when he gets the ball in his hands that he doesn’t really trust his teammates around him and wants to do the job by himself. The defensive intensity has dropped significantly, and Boston is taking far too many wide open shots from the outside. That being said, even playing at their worst, the Knicks were in both Games 4 and 5 in spite of the fact that they lost them. That’s why we think that the percentages are there on New York finally getting the job done in this series and closing things out here at the TD Garden. The Celtics have used up a ton of energy to get back to this point in this series, and there just isn’t going to be enough left in the tank to get any closer to becoming the first team in NBA history to win a series after falling behind 3-0.

Knicks Lead Series 3-1

The lights aren’t out on the Celtics quite yet, as there is clearly still some fight left in their tank. The question is whether they had to use everything that they had on Sunday to get back in this series to win that overtime game against New York in Game 4. There is no doubt that if the C’s win this game, the Knicks are going to be feeling the pressure, as they will have blown their first two chances to put this series away, and they would have to go back to the TD Garden on Friday for what would become a very crucial and emotional Game 6. G JR Smith is back from his one-game suspension for throwing an elbow, and that should help a New York bench that was awfully lackluster on Sunday. However, we aren’t so sure that he is able to fix the real problem that the Knicks had in that game – they really didn’t play all that much in the way of defense. New York took 14 more shots than the C’s did, and it managed three fewer field goals to show for its work, and that isn’t going to cut it. The 97 points allowed wasn’t all that bad, but it wasn’t what we have come to expect in this series. If the Celtics can find their way into the 80s in this game, we know that they are going to have a good shot of winning this game. We expect this one to be tight, and there could be an upset in the cards when push comes to shove.

The 2013 NBA playoffs continue on Sunday, April 28th with the Game 4 clash between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. Our Celtics vs. Knicks predictions are as good as you’ll find on the internet, and we have the right play that you need to make in this game to win money betting the NBA.

Knicks Lead Series 3-0

The Knicks have really been the most dominating team over the course of the first three games of this series, as they have won three straight games by double digits and look like they are going to sweep right through the C’s. That being said, the whole “Boston Strong” thing is going to be something that we will be playing off of in this game. The city of Boston didn’t give up when it was bombed by those lunatics at the Boston Marathon, and we don’t think that the team is going to give up now that it is down 0-3 in this series. Granted, we really don’t believe that the Celtics are going to win this series by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a real chance for them to win this game and get the job done. We just fail to see how this offense is going to be as bad as it was in the last two quarters in Game 2 and the first two quarters of Game 3. If the offense can get into the 20s in all four of the quarters in Game 4, we think that the Knicks will feel at least a bit of pressure on its back. F Paul Pierce isn’t ready for this season to be over with, and take over this game and lead Boston to a win.

Knicks Lead Series 1-0

Sometimes, the oddsmakers simply overreact to what they are seeing over the course of a series. In the first half on Sunday afternoon, the Knicks and Celtics combined to score 102 points. In the second half, Boston only scored 25 points, and the two only combined for a total of 61. The two teams really did play poorly offensively in that second half, and there is no way that we can see that happening once again on Tuesday. The Knicks pushed the tempo just a bit in the third quarter of the game, and that’s when F Carmelo Anthony really started to take over the game. The Celtics are most certainly going to have to slow some things down, but when push comes to shove, they just have to make some more baskets. Shooting 20 three pointers probably wasn’t a good idea in itself, but hitting just five of those certainly isn’t going to get the job done. The C’s shot 41.5 percent from the field, and they had just four offensive rebounds. The adjustment that the oddsmakers made was bringing the ‘total’ down by 4.5 points, and that came after posting a second half ‘total’ that was a solid 2-3 points higher than it probably should have been. We think that the NBA oddsmakers have made a big mistake here, as this is just too low of a number. This game will get into the 190s.

Series Tied 0-0

The first game of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals should be a good one, as we know that the Knicks and the Celtics really are going to be going at it for the full 48 minutes, and perhaps even more. F Kevin Garnett and F Paul Pierce have been well rested over the course of the last several weeks of the season, and they should be ready to go for the majority of the 48 minutes in this one. The emergence of F Jeff Green really has helped as well. Though Boston doesn’t have the guards to be to keep up with those of the Knicks, we know that Pierce will be doing a lot of ball handling, and there aren’t many “point forwards” that we would rather have on our side than him. The Knicks are going to find out in a hurry that jump shooting by F Carmelo Anthony and G JR Smith won’t cut it in this series. These two, along with the rest of the Knickerbockers, are going to have to drive the paint and not be afraid to hack, scratch, and claw with the Celtics for the full game. If New York gets too soft, it will get run off of the court in this one, and in this series. We do think that the Knicks are going to find a way to win this game at the end, as Anthony is just playing too well right now to be stopped. However, we do believe that this is going to be a very close series through and through, and we know that we want the Celtics on our side in Game 1 with all of those points. The gaps between these two teams all series long should be awfully small.

Celtics @ Knicks Game 1 Pick: Boston Celtics +7.5

Indiana and Boston almost certainly will have zip to play for in this game, and with that being the case, we don’t expect to see the stars playing for all that long. The Celtics are certainly locked into the No. 7 seed in the playoffs, and they know that they are going to be playing against the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs starting this weekend. Indiana meanwhile, doesn’t know who its foe is going to be in the first round, but it knows that it is going to be in the No. 3 hole after getting beaten by the aforementioned Knicks this past weekend. We aren’t all that sure what the Pacers are going to do with their lineup, but we would bet that men like F David West will end up sitting for more minutes than he normally does. We already know how Boston is handling this, though. C Kevin Garnett, for example, only played 19 minutes against the Orlando Magic on Saturday night. F Paul Pierce played just 27 minutes. G Jason Terry is being held out for the rest of the regular season. That being said, Boston really isn’t playing defense the same way that it did when the regulars were in the lineup. The C’s allowed 109 to the Miami Heat and 101 to the Brooklyn Nets just over the course of last week, and if they do that same sort of thing again versus Indiana, this should be a game that easily finds a way to fly past the number.

Pacers @ Celtics Pick: Over

This isn’t going to be the easiest game in the world to handicap, knowing that there are going to be a ton of stars that aren’t in the lineup in the game. F Paul Pierce and F Kevin Garnett have already been ruled out with ankle injuries, and we don’t expect to see G Dwyane Wade, C Chris Bosh, or F LeBron James either. So what’s really left to work with on either side? The answer? Really not a whole heck of a lot. Four straight meetings in this series have gone past the ‘total’, but we really see no reason that this is going to be even a remotely exciting game. Both of these teams are just going to try to get out of this one without getting anyone hurt. The Celtics have averaged just 97.1 points per game in their last nine since really taking it easy for the end of the season, while the Heat have averaged only 96.9 points per game in their last eight since they were beaten by the Chicago Bulls to end their 27-game winning streak. The Heat have slowed games down and have figured out how to still win in spite of the fact that they haven’t had their stars in the fold. We would be surprised if this game made it into the 180s.

Celtics @ Heat Pick: Under
Celtics @ Heat Prediction: Miami 92 – Boston 86

The Nets might be 1-4-1 ATS in the last six games that they have played over the course of their last six games in this series against Boston, but we think that this is a great opportunity to get some revenge. The minutes that F Kevin Garnett and F Paul Pierce are playing have been decreased and decreased dramatically over the course of the last several games, likely because Head Coach Doc Rivers is a smart man and realizes that he is going to have to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs regardless of what happens the rest of the way. Brooklyn meanwhile, is playing with its hair on fire, knowing that it is going to need to win a bunch of games down the stretch to hold off the Chicago Bulls for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. There’s no doubt whatsoever that these two teams are on relatively level terms with one another, so from that standpoint, the NBA odds aren’t far off from where they should be. On this night though, there is a huge motivation factor that is going in favor of the Nets, and their form is just flat out better right now than that of the boys from Beantown. To top it all off, on Christmas Day the last time these two met, Boston came to Brooklyn and smacked the Nets 93-76. The road team has gone 3-1 SU and 3-0-1 ATS in the last four in this series, and it’s time for some revenge for the boys from Gotham City.

Nets @ Celtics Pick: Brooklyn Nets +4
Nets @ Celtics Prediction: Brooklyn 98 – Boston 92

We’re all about value when we make our NBA picks, and we know that when the lines come out, the value is most certainly going to be on the Celtics. Boston has been slumping, having lost four games in a row, but we want you to take a close look at those games that have been played to see what has been going on. The games were tightly packed together, as the Celtics played all four of those games in a span of just six days, and they had to face one of the best teams in NBA history (Miami), a streaking club trying to get into the playoffs (Dallas), and one that has arguably the best defense in the league (Memphis) in there as well. Three of the four losses came by four points or fewer. The Knicks meanwhile, have four straight wins, though the last three have come against total pansies (Orlando and Toronto twice). With F Carmelo Anthony back in the lineup, we know that New York is a significantly better team than it was on their West Coast swing without him, but this isn’t a team that is really head and shoulders better than Boston, even without F Kevin Garnett. We think that the boys from Beantown are going to find some way to win this game, and we want the points that we are going to be getting on our side.

We absolutely hate to be in front of the runaway train known as the Miami Heat right now, but we feel like we have no choice whatsoever but to do so in this one. Boston has been playing well over the course of its last few games, and it has done so without getting much in the way of help from F Kevin Garnett, who is nursing a groin injury. KG is considered “50/50″ for this one, which really should add all the more fuel to the Miami fire if he doesn’t play. Miami has a score to settle as well, having lost in this building two months ago, in what, believe it or not, is the second most recent loss that the team has suffered. In that game, Garnett scored 24 points and pulled down 11 boards, and though G Rajon Rondo was out, F Jared Sullinger was in. Now, all three guys might be on the shelf. So why do we like Boston so much in this one? The Heat are playing their second game of a back to back on the road, something that is bound to catch up with teams eventually. Last night’s win in Toronto looked easy, but the Raptors had Miami on the ropes until they were outscored by 14 points in the fourth quarter. Could this be the day that the Heat finally get busted? It’s very, very possible.

Heat @ Celtics Pick: Boston Celtics +5
Heat @ Celtics Prediction: Boston 97 – Miami 95

The NBA odds are giving the Celtics a whole heck of a lot of points in this one. Boston has been playing awfully good basketball of late, winning five games in a row both SU and ATS. The last game like this one on the road came against the Indiana Pacers, and that was a game that was decided with a layup at the gun. Head Coach Doc Rivers almost seems poised to prove a point that his team actually can compete with the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference, and pulling off an upset like this one would send a real message to the rest of the league that indeed, the C’s are for real. Oklahoma City has won four games in a row, covering three of the four and winning two of the four games by at least 17 points. We do think that the Thunder are going to find a way to win this game SU when push comes to shove, but to give the Celtics a double digit head start seems to be a bit much. This should be a great game from start to finish, and we would be surprised to see the Celtics’ winning streak come to an end with anything less than a tough fought defeat.

Celtics @ Thunder Pick: Boston Celtics +10.5
Celtics @ Thunder Final Score Prediction: Thunder 101 – Celtics 95

The Atlanta Hawks and the Boston Celtics are going to square off in a Friday night NBA betting affair on March 8th. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for basketball for what should be a great game on Friday.

NBA Predictions: Atlanta Hawks @ Boston Celtics
Date: Friday, March 8th, 8:00 ET
Location: TD Garden, Boston, MA
NBA Betting Odds: Boston -4
Hawks vs. Celtics NBA TV Schedule: ESPN

The Celtics are riding high once again, and it looks as though they are going to be totally safe for a spot in the playoffs. They actually have the No. 4 seed in their sights right now, as the Brooklyn Nets are most certainly catchable. Boston has won and covered four in a row, and three of those four games came on the road. It’s going to be good to be back at home at the Garden after spending basically two thirds of the month of February on the road. Still, it’s going to be awfully tough to keep mentally tough for this one against Atlanta after beating the Indiana Pacers at the gun at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday. The Hawks only just stopped their three-game losing streak with a win against the Philadelphia 76ers, giving them some life again with all of the other teams that are lumped together in the 4-8 seeds in the Eastern Conference. Our concern? F Josh Smith has only averaged 13.0 points per game in his last four games, and he really hasn’t had a dominating game in over a week. He’ll need one against the Celtics though, and we think that he is going to get it to show the rest of the world that he is ready to get a max contract next season. Go with the Hawks to fly high over the men in green in a mild upset.

Hawks @ Celtics NBA Pick: Atlanta Hawks +4
Hawks @ Celtics Score Prediction: Hawks 103 – Celtics 98
