Heat Lead Series 3-1

It would take a brave man to want to back the Bulls right now. The Heat have taken over this series, and they have done so by outscoring the Chicago by the average final score of 102-79 in the last three games. Is this one really going to be any closer? It just doesn’t seem that way. G Derrick Rose isn’t going to be hobbling out of the locker room, Willis Reed style to save the team, and we don’t think that this will be the night that either F Luol Deng or G Kirk Hinrich make their debuts in this series. Simply put, Head Coach Tom Thibodeau and the Bulls have been beaten and thoroughly beaten by a superior team in this series. About the only shot that Chicago would have of covering this number is if G Dwyane Wade didn’t play. We expect that he will suit, and even if he didn’t, he ultimately only scored six points in Game 4, and that turned out to be a romp in and of itself. Granted, we know that G Nate Robinson isn’t going to shoot 0-for-12 from the field once again in this game, and the Bulls probably won’t shoot 2-of-17 from beyond the arc, but they really don’t have a chance regardless. This series is long since over with, and the Heat are going to make sure to stamp this one out as quickly as possible to move onto the Eastern Conference Finals in style.

Heat Lead Series 2-1

Order has been restored in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and at this point, most would concede the fact that the Heat are going to win this series in five games. There are only 10 guys that don’t believe that to be the case at this point, and those 10 happen to be wearing white and red uniforms. You have to admire the grit and the tenacity that the Bulls have shown in this series, and we are frankly shocked that they are only 1-2 ATS in the first three games to show for their work. F Jimmy Butler has played virtually every minute of this series, while G Marco Belinelli and G Nate Robinson, who didn’t figure to have any sort of role on this team this season, have played 40+ minutes virtually every night. C Joakim Noah is playing on a bum foot, and F Carlos Boozer has been dealing with foul trouble. There has been pushing and shoving at seemingly every whistle, and though the refs are calling technical fouls, it isn’t stopping Chicago from doing what it can. It played its game on Friday night and still lost by 10 points, but it was a lot more unlucky than anything else down the stretch. We have to think that the reward might still be there. Perhaps a few days off can get at least one, if not both of F Luol Deng and/or G Kirk Hinrich back in the lineup. If so, just maybe this becomes a series again. We know that we are grasping for straws at this point, but the one thing that we know about Chicago is that it is never giving up. Go with the Bulls to score the upset in Game 4 to ensure that this series will indeed come back to the Windy City for Game 6.

Heat @ Bulls Game 4 Pick: Chicago Bulls +7.5

It’s amazing how quickly perception changes in a series in the playoffs in the NBA! After Game 1 when the Bulls found a way to go on the road and steal home court advantage, people starting cocking their eyebrows, thinking that Chicago would have a chance in this series. After Game 2 though, when the Heat were up over 40 points for the majority of the fourth quarter, now all of a sudden, no one is giving Chicago a chance. We however, are. We know that there is still no G Kirk Hinrich, and there is still no F Luol Deng either, but we think that the Bulls learned a heck of a lot about this series after Game 2. C Joakim Noah still has a chance to be one of the more dominating players on the court in this series, and he and front court mate F Carlos Boozer could put up big time numbers. Though we do think that Miami is going to win this game, we are shocked to see Chicago getting a touchdown’s worth of points. The Heat are just 7-15-2 ATS in their last 24 visits to the Windy City, and the last time that they were here, their 27-game winning streak was snapped. This one will look a heck of a lot more like Game 1 and a heck of a lot less like Game 2 when push comes to shove, as the Bulls at least find a way to keep this game respectfully close.

Bulls Lead Series 1-0

Well, we didn’t see THAT coming! The Bulls came out of nowhere without F Luol Deng and without G Kirk Hinrich and ultimately found a way to beat the Heat, who really looked slow and sluggish over the course of the whole game. The second half was a bit better for Miami until the final several minutes of the game when the Bulls finished things off, but that definitely wasn’t something that we forecasted. That being said, we still think that laying the points is the best idea of the bunch. G Marco Belinelli played 47 minutes in Game 1, and F Jimmy Butler didn’t take a seat the whole game. F Chris Bosh hit just three field goals for the game, and the Heat as a whole shot 29.2 percent from beyond the arc. Worse was the fact that Miami was outrebounded 46-32. We have to think that’s going to improve as time goes on in this series. There is a point that F LeBron James and G Dwyane Wade should be set to take over, and we are cautiously going to forecast that happening here in Game 2. Perhaps we’ll turn out to be wrong and Chicago will end up ruling the day for a second straight night. However, we still think the percentages are on backing Miami.

The oddsmakers are off of their rocker in this series. The implication is that perhaps Chicago really can stick around in this game, when in actuality, we think that this first game is going to be over within the first 15-20 minutes of action. The Bulls are just far too beat up right now. F Luol Deng, if he plays, is only just getting out of the hospital with an illness. G Kirk Hinrich is going to be asked to get back in the fold if he is able to after missing three of the seven games in the series against the Brooklyn Nets with a hamstring problem. C Joakim Noah is playing well, but he is playing through plantar fasciitis that probably would require the average player to be sitting for at least a few weeks. It just isn’t a pretty situation to be playing in against a team who only lost three games this year at home while it was trying to play real ball. The Heat haven’t broken a sweat yet in these playoffs, and they remember what the Bulls did to them when these two met in the Windy City in March. That was the game that ended Miami’s 27-game winning streak, the second longest streak in NBA history. You can bet that F LeBron James and company want to get some revenge, and they have been thinking about this Game 1 for the last seven days since finishing off the Milwaukee Bucks. This one won’t even be remotely close.

Bulls @ Heat Game 1 Pick: Miami Heat -11.5

The Chicago Bulls and the Brooklyn Nets are going to square off in Game 7 of their playoff series in a crucial NBA betting affair on May 4th. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for basketball for what should be a great game on Saturday.

NBA Predictions: Chicago Bulls @ Brooklyn Nets
Date: Saturday, May 4th, 8:00 ET

NBA Betting Odds: Brooklyn -6.5
Bulls vs. Nets NBA TV Schedule: TNT

Series Tied 3-3

For the first time this year, we have a crucial Game 7 in which two teams are going to be fighting for their lives. Nothing is better than this, but we really wish that both teams were at full strength. Unfortunately for the Bulls, they really are the walking wounded out there. They aren’t going to have G Kirk Hinrich in all likelihood, and it’s sounding like they aren’t going to have F Luol Deng either. That’s really going to leave Head Coach Tom Thibodeau in quite the bind, knowing that he’ll have such a short bench to work with. In Game 6, he had to use G Marco Belinelli for 47 of the 48 minutes, and F Jimmy Butler literally didn’t sit down for a single second. C Joakim Noah is playing with plantar fasciitis, and he is doing a yeoman’s job in the paint in spite of that very painful injury. It’s tough enough to win games in the playoffs, and it’s even tougher to do so on the road. But when you’re missing three of your starters (though it’s tough to count G Derrick Rose in that mix since he hasn’t been with the team all year long), it’s a task that is darn near impossible. The Nets simply have to win this game by default. We just can’t imagine how Brooklyn would lose this one after doing all of the tough work in Games 5, and especially 6 on the road at the United Center. Laying 6.5 is a bit risky, but we think it’s the right thing to do.

Bulls @ Nets Game 7 Pick: Brooklyn Nets -6.5

The Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls are going to square off in Game 6 of their playoff series in a crucial NBA betting affair on May 2nd. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for basketball for what should be a great game on Thursday.

NBA Predictions: Brooklyn Nets @ Chicago Bulls

Location: United Center, Chicago, IL
NBA Betting Odds: Chicago -1.5
Nets vs. Bulls NBA TV Schedule: TNT

Bulls Lead Series 3-2

Anyone else find this line relatively fishy? The Bulls really feel as though they should be favored by at least three or four points in this game. Does the absence of G Kirk Hinrich really mean all that much? We’re not sure, but apparently, the oddsmakers think so. We still think that the Nets have had it when push comes to shove. They put together a fantastic game for 45 minutes in Game 4, only to end up losing in triple overtime, and they basically played the same game for the first 45 minutes of Game 5, except this time, they finished the game off. Chicago still has the dominant boys on the boards, and the truth of the matter is that we are still doubting the psyche of the Nets at this point. Can they really come back to Chicago and win a second straight elimination game with their backs against the wall? Head Coach Tom Thibodeau knows that this series needs to end right here and right now, and that’s exactly what is going to happen. The Bulls should finish this series off tonight and get ready for a second round series with the Miami Heat.

Bulls Lead Series 3-1

This is a game that is going to be all about mental toughness more than anything else, and that’s where we think that the Nets have some real troubles. These two teams went at it for 63 minutes on Saturday afternoon, and they have to turn around in just 48 hours and come back to Brooklyn for what is a do or die game for the boys from Brooklyn. The only question that we have for the Bulls is whether they are going to be able to keep up this intensity and play through the pain of a few injuries. G Kirk Hinrich has a calf problem and C Joakim Noah has a foot problem, but both played a ton of minutes on Saturday. G Nate Robinson isn’t going to score 34 points off of the bench again either. Still, we wonder if the Nets have had it. G Deron Williams played 58 minutes on Saturday, and it looks like he left everything that he had on the floor. It wasn’t good enough to win at the United Center in Game 4, and it is going to take even more of an effort to win Game 5 when push comes to shove. We think that this game should be a lot more like a pick ‘em than anything else, and we think that giving us 5.5, even in a do or die game for the Nets, is a heck of a lot of points. Chicago has proven that it is good enough to come on the road and win, and we want the points on our side for sure on Monday night.

Head Coach PJ Carlesimo has to be looking for some answers after his team converted on just 28 shots for the entire game against the Bulls in Game 3 of this series on Thursday night. Save for C Brook Lopez, G Joe Johnson, and G Deron Williams, the rest of the team combined to make just nine shots for the game, and that obviously isn’t going to cut it when push comes to shove. The Bulls have had horrid backcourt play for the whole postseason, and Game 3 was no exception, as G Kirk Hinrich and G Jimmy Butler shot just 6-of-17 from the field. We are still standing by the fact that we think Brooklyn is the better team in this series, and it is going to be able to win this game and get back to the Gotham City all squared at two games apiece. The Nets are going to knock down more three point field goals in this one, and they are going to ultimately be able to get into the high 80s, which should be good enough to win this game in a mild upset.

Nets Lead Series 1-0

Virtually nothing went right for the Bulls in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, knowing that they were outscored 89-62 in the first three quarters before a respectable fourth quarter at least made the final score look decent. Many think that Head Coach Tom Thibodeau and the gang are going to get off of the mat in this one, but we aren’t all that sure that the season isn’t on the verge of being over for Chicago. The Bulls got the crushing news on Saturday that G Derrick Rose was probably out for the rest of the playoffs regardless of how far they get, and if that’s the case, they need to get a lot more in the way of contributions from their bigs to win even a single game in this series. C Joakim Noah looks visibly hurt and frustrated, while G Kirk Hinrich has a deep thigh bruise. Both will play on Monday, but there is a question as to how effective either will be when push comes to shove. Meanwhile, six players scored in double figures for the Nets in Game 1, and that includes getting 73 points combined between their “Big Four,” G Deron Williams, G Joe Johnson, F Gerald Wallace, and C Brook Lopez. If that keeps up, and especially if Wallace continues to play well, this Brooklyn team is clearly the superior outfit. We think that it comes up with a big effort on Monday to throw a haymaker at the Bulls in this series.

Bulls @ Nets Game 2 Pick: Brooklyn Nets -4.5

The Bulls and the Nets are two very evenly matched teams on paper. They both play tremendous defense, both have the ability to really play well in the half court on both sides of the ball, and both have had some underachieving players that, if they step up to play, could take them from likely pretenders to legitimate contenders for the NBA title. For Chicago, someone has to really step it up in the backcourt. The whole offense can’t run through the bigs in the middle. F Luol Deng is the closest thing to a pure jump shooter that they have, and that isn’t going to cut it. The point guard and shooting guard positions really need to improve. We’ve known for quite some time that the Nets don’t have a legitimate No. 4 on the court for the most part, but we didn’t know that F Gerald Wallace, a swing forward, was going to have such a woeful season. That being said, we are now in the playoffs, and this is the time that G Derrick Rose really would have needed to shine for Chicago to be a threat. He still isn’t back in the lineup after tearing his ACL almost a full year ago, and that’s going to be a huge detriment to the team. Brooklyn’s guards are just too good to be stopped, and we think that both G Joe Johnson and G Deron Williams are going to have big time days when push comes to shove to give the Nets the 1-0 series lead.

Bulls @ Nets Game 1 Pick: Brooklyn Nets -4.5

The Bulls and the Heat have a great history with one another, and there is a good chance that these two could ultimately meet up in the second round of the playoffs, particularly if Chicago wins this game and stays on track for the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. Miami though, really has to have a point to prove when push comes to shove. The Heat are playing good basketball at the moment, and they have themselves a full side with which to work with. Sure, we know that G Dwyane Wade, F Chris Bosh, and F LeBron James are all going to be on the court for less than 30 minutes of this game, if even that. However, the truth of the matter is that all has been going well without the Super Friends out there as well. The Heat have won five in a row, and the only loss that they have suffered since losing to this Chicago outfit at the United Center was a completely excusable defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks, who at the time, were on the third longest winning streak that we have seen a team go on this season. The Bulls probably won’t have C Joakim Noah or F Taj Gibson for this game, and we all know that G Derrick Rose probably won’t be back this season. All that being said, this one feels like a game that the boys from South Beach are ultimately going to win by a relatively comfortable margin, especially with the game being played on national television.

Bulls @ Heat Pick: Miami Heat -8.5
Bulls @ Heat Prediction: Miami 95 – Chicago 86
