The difference in class between the bottom feeding teams in the Big East and the ones that have a shot to actually win this tournament, but if there is a team that is sort of in the middle, Rutgers is it. The Scarlet Knights do have some wins this year that make you think that perhaps going on a run is at least plausible. This is really the only team playing in the first day of the Big East Tournament with aspirations of playing in the postseason, as the NIT or the CBI could be calling as long as the team doesn’t totally flame out here against the worst team in the league. That being said, with G Eli Carter on the shelf for the rest of the year, G Myles Mack can’t do it all. DePaul is a terrible defensive team, but F Cleveland Melvin and G Brandon Young are both experienced players that can get really fill up the basket. This time of year, it takes some clutch shooters and some big time scorers to make magical players. DePaul has those players. Rutgers doesn’t. We haven’t seen the Blue Demons play a good game in over a month, but we think that the boys from the Windy City have one more surge in them to take down the Scarlet Knights and move on to a date with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
