March Madness free picks are one of our top specialties this time of year here at Cappers Info, and we have another great one on the NCAA Tournament schedule on Sunday night. The #4 Michigan Wolverines and the #3 Florida Gators will meet in the Elite Eight in the South Region, and we’re breaking down the NCAA basketball betting lines for the clash.

South Region Picks: #4 Michigan Wolverines vs. #3 Florida Gators
Date: Sunday, March 31st, 2:20 p.m. ET
South Region Location: Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TX
Michigan vs. Florida Live on TV: CBS

Elite Eight Betting Lines
#4 Michigan Wolverines +2.5
#3 Florida Gators -2.5
Over/Under 132.5

The Gators and the Wolverines are both fantastic teams, but they have taken vastly different roads to reach this point in this tournament. It hasn’t been Florida’s fault, but it has taken on three double-digit seeds and has at least had some moments of struggle against each of the three. The Gators have ended up relying upon their superior athleticism to get the job done against clearly inferior teams. This is going to be the first time, perhaps maybe even all season long, that the team is going to have to look a team in the face that absolutely has the athletes to stand up to it. Michigan’s newest version of the de facto “Fab Five” certainly played the role on Friday night. Not only did the team feature all five starters scoring in double digits, but it also had some flash, some glitz, some grit, and some tenacity as well, all good qualities that you’d like to see of a potential Final Four team at this level. G Trey Burke hit the two biggest shots of the season, both of which practically came from the parking lot against the Jayhawks, and he is really making himself a tremendous hero in Ann Arbor. This is a magical looking Michigan team right now. The Wolverines seem to be the real deal, and they are going to pull off the upset on Sunday to kick off what should be another great day of March Madness betting action. Michigan proves that it was no fluke that this used to be the No. 1 team in America.

Michigan vs. Florida Free Pick: Michigan Wolverines +2.5

Sweet 16 Betting Lines
#15 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles +13
#3 Florida Gators -13

5Dimes NCAA TournamentEveryone wants to make the case that Florida Gulf Coast could be in the Final Four. Let’s face it. Everyone outside of Gainesville is going to be rooting for the Eagles to pull off a third straight shocker in the dance. However, we have to be a bit realistic about this. Florida Gulf Coast is still a team from the Atlantic Sun. It’s still a team that lost to Lipscomb twice. It’s still a team that was beaten by Stetson by nine, East Tennessee State by 10, and Maine by six. VCU trounced this team by 23 at the outset of the season. Duke beat it by 21. Fire only lasts for so long, and in the end, Cinderella’s chariot ultimately turns into a pumpkin. Florida has had a full four days to prepare for this game. You know that the boys from Gainesville aren’t going to be intimidated by what they see at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Florida Gulf Coast? If you add up every single one of their home crowds this year, you still don’t have the amount of fans that are going to likely be cheering for them in Arlington on Friday night. On top of that, the athletes are just a heck of a lot better for Florida. F Erik Murphy should dominate in the paint, and an experienced backcourt should be able to keep this game from being a running and gunning fest as we have seen happen to both San Diego State and Georgetown. For as much as we would like to take the points in this one, we just don’t see it. This is a game that will be over by halftime and will only get uglier from there.

Florida Gulf Coast vs. Florida Free Pick: Florida Gators -13
Florida Gulf Coast vs. Florida Predictions: Florida 82 – Florida Gulf Coast 58

Third Round Betting Lines
#11 Minnesota Golden Gophers +8.5
#3 Florida Gators -8.5
Over/Under 122.5

The Golden Gophers struggled mightily at the end of the regular season, losing to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Purdue Boilermakers, and Illinois Fighting Illini in succession. And of course, with the season on the line in a game that made not a single lick of sense from the get go, Minnesota pounded the UCLA Bruins into submission, winning by 20 points. F Trevor Mbakwe pulled down 12 boards and had nine points, proving that he does have the goods to be a real stopper on the defensive side of the court. Meanwhile, the Hollins boys combined to shoot 9-of-14 from beyond the arc and had 44 points between them. Here’s the bad news for Minnesota, though: Florida has a team that’s at full strength, and it isn’t screwing around. The Gators came right out and kicked the butts of the Northwestern State Demons, and they pulled away in the second half to cover a three-touchdown spread. They really didn’t even put their best foot forward in that game either, as they really only posted such a blowout by dominating on the glass and forcing 10 steals and 15 turnovers. If Florida can ever get its shooting stroke down, look out. The Gators could be legitimately scary, not just here in this round, but over the course of the rest of the dance as well.

Second Round Betting Lines
#14 Northwestern State Demons +20.5
#3 Florida Gators -20.5
Over/Under 140.5

The Southland was a terrible conference this year, and we are probably going to find that out over the course of the next several days. Northwestern State won 17 of its 23 games against teams from its own league, and the best that it was able to do out of conference this year was beat Louisiana Tech 89-83. We know that the Demons are going to try to run, but are they going to be running into a brick wall? Florida has some flat out awesome guards that could run with the Southland champs if they wanted to, but we aren’t so sure that it is going to be necessary. We watched the Southland Tournament and saw that the Demons aren’t nearly themselves when they are slowed down. Yes, they did beat both Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State in low scoring games, but this is a much different type of challenge. The Gators have a history of crippling teams like this in the dance under Head Coach Billy Donovan, and they also have a history of demolishing teams this year. Yes, Florida did struggle some down the stretch, yet it also picked up 16 wins by at least 20 points, and three of those wins came against tourney teams. This one won’t be pretty from the start.

SEC Tournament Final Picks: Ole Miss Rebels vs. Florida Gators
Date: Sunday, March 17th, 1:00 ET
Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, TN
Ole Miss vs. Florida Live TV: ABC

BetGuardian

The Rebels have probably done enough to get into the NCAA Tournament at this point, and we don’t really think that they are going to be in any trouble even if they lose this game by 30. Of course, winning this game will keep them from going to Dayton on Tuesday or Wednesday, whereas a loss is probably going to send the team to the First Four. Ole Miss really hasn’t had all that much success against the best teams in the conference, and this is going to be another one of these problematic games. The Gators could be playing for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament if they can figure out how to win this one. They didn’t play a great first half against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, but they ultimately pulled away in the second half and put the game out of reach. This Florida outfit is one of the deepest teams in the nation now that it is healthy, and its eight players are playing at a very high level. The defense for the Gators should be able to take care of the Rebels in this one, and there is no way that this game is going to be closer than double digits.

Ole Miss vs. Florida Pick: Florida Gators
SEC Tournament Final Predictions: Florida 73 – Ole Miss 59

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Saturday night. The Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide will have it the SEC Tournament Semifinals, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ABC.

SEC Tournament Semifinals Picks: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida Gators
Date: Saturday, March 16th, 1:00 ET
Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, TN
Alabama vs. Florida Live TV: ABC

Two of the SEC teams that were fighting to get into the NCAA Tournament are already out of the dance picture, and now, Alabama is probably the next to get a move on. The Crimson Tide probably have to win this game if they want to have a shot to get into March Madness, but it is going to be a tough road to sow against the Gators, easily the best team in the SEC. We would really like to think that one of these SEC teams is going to step it up and get the job done in a game that it has to have, but there is very little indication that the Crimson Tide have that ability. Thus far this year against the best teams on their schedule, they have been beaten by Florida by 12 and Missouri by 16. They at least stuck around with Cincinnati, losing by two, but they were trashed by VCU by 19. Meanwhile, we have seen Florida just beat the snot out of so many of the best teams in the SEC, and the LSU Tigers were the most recent of those teams to get killed in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. Don’t be shocked if this is yet another romp from the get go, as Alabama bows out and clinches its spot in the NIT.

Alabama vs. Florida Pick: Florida Gators -13.5
SEC Semifinals Prediction: Florida 76 – Alabama 61

This is really the end of the road for the Wildcats this year. They have only gone 3-4 SU and 2-5 ATS in games without F Nerlens Noel, and that certainly isn’t good enough in the lowly SEC to convince the Selection Committee that the team deserves to get into the NCAA Tournament. Beating Florida would at least put the Cats in a position to dance, but losing this game might make winning the SEC Tournament the only way to get to March Madness. Unfortunately for the Big Blue Nation, we just don’t see it happening. Florida has one of the most athletic teams in the conference, and the chance is there to get back on the No. 1 line in the dance. Winning a road game like this one would squash the thought that the Gators can’t play on the road, though right now, with three losses in their last four road games (with the lone win coming against Auburn), it’s tough to argue. G Kenny Boynton and the crew ran roughshod on Kentucky when these two teams met in Gainesville, especially once Noel was knocked out of the game with his torn ACL. Though we do think that the crowd could be a big factor in this one, talent will eventually rule the day, which will put the state of Kentucky basketball in massive peril this year.

Florida vs. Kentucky Pick: Florida Gators -5.5
Florida vs. Kentucky Prediction: Florida 68 – Kentucky 60

First place in the SEC is going to be on the line on Saturday, and we are really wondering if this is the lucky day for the Crimson Tide. Alabama is coming to Gainesville badly needing a win against a team like Florida to have any shot of getting into the NCAA Tournament. The Gators have never been weaker than they are right now. This looks like a beaten up team, as F Will Yeguete, G Michael Frazier II, and G Casey Prather are all injured. They have all been cleared to practice and should all be dressed on Saturday though, and that’s terrible news for the Tide. Florida absolutely slaughtered teams all season long until recently when injuries have caught up with it, and it is going to want to prove for sure that it is worthy of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament by winning these last several games of the year in impressive fashion. What once looked like a potentially lucky day for the Tide might turn out to be a nightmare instead. This one could be over by the half.

Alabama vs. Florida Pick: Florida Gators -16.5
Alabama vs. Florida Prediction: Florida 79 – Alabama 56

F Jordan McRae is on absolute fire right now for the Volunteers. He has put up a total of 58 points in his last two games, and he has almost single-handedly willed Tennessee back into the discussion for the NCAA Tournament. Win this game, and the Vols will almost certainly be on the right side of the bubble going into the last three games of the regular season. Florida has some major problems right now, too. The team might legitimately only have six players at its disposal to go with a bunch of guys who virtually never play coming off of the bench. First it was F Will Yeguete that went down with a knee injury to drop the Gators to just seven to choose from, but now, G Michael Frazier II has a concussion and could be out for Tuesday night’s affair as well. If Frazier doesn’t play, we really don’t see how anyone could back the Gators, even for as dominating as they have been over the course of SEC play. A lot of that dominance came in the months of November, December, and January, though. Florida has only gone 5-2 SU and 2-5 ATS in February, and the average margin of victory has dipped to just 12.9 points per game, way down from the 20.6 points per game that the team is averaging for the season. We want the points and the Vols on our side in this one on Tuesday night.

Florida vs. Tennessee Pick: Tennessee Volunteers +9
Florida vs. Tennessee Prediction: Tennessee 68 – Florida 67

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out how important this game truly is to the Gators and the Tigers. UF’s chances of garnering signature wins is just about said and done with, and losing any games like this one would be a real knock on the team’s ability to ultimately go on and get a No. 1 seed in the dance. Missouri is sitting firmly on the bubble right now, and a loss to Arkansas didn’t help those matters on Saturday. The problem that the Tigers have in this one is that they are just tremendously overmatched. They aren’t going to lose by 31 like they did when these two teams met the first time around in Gainesville, but it probably isn’t going to be a pretty result. Florida shot 59.3% from the floor that day, held Missouri to just 32.7% from the field. The Gators won the rebounding battle 30-19. It had 13 more assists, and six more blocked shots. Missouri did force 16 turnovers, but it turned the ball over itself 21 times, and that just isn’t going to cut it. In the end, the hometown crowd should keep the Tigers in this one for a bit, but there is going to be a point where Florida just pulls away from an inferior club.

Florida vs. Missouri Pick: Florida Gators -4.5
Florida vs. Missouri Prediction: Florida 72 – Missouri 56

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Tuesday night. The Florida Gators and Kentucky Wildcats will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

Free College Hoops Picks: Kentucky Wildcats @ Florida Gators
Date: Tuesday, February 12th, 7:00 ET
Location: O’Connell Center, Gainesville, FL
Kentucky vs. Florida Live TV: ESPN

The Gators and the Wildcats are both incredibly talented teams, and we think that the oddsmakers are going to look too much into the holistic numbers instead of the recent form. The Wildcats have been as hot as could be, rolling off five straight wins, many of which have come by convincing margins. They’re playing well, and they might finally be rounding into the form that we expected to see them take at the outset of the season. Florida meanwhile, has failed to cover three in a row, and we can’t help but wonder if missing F Will Yeguete is part of the reason why. This front line really isn’t all that deep when push comes to shove, and that could be bad news against F Nerlens Noel and company. The Wildcats could really use a signature win like this one to remove all doubt about their place in the NCAA Tournament, and we think that they are at least going to threaten to get it. This is going to be far too many points for the oddsmakers to be giving Florida on the college basketball odds on Tuesday night.

Kentucky vs. Florida Pick: Kentucky Wildcats +9.5
Kentucky vs. Florida Prediction: Florida 72 – Kentucky 70

There are times in conference play, regardless of what league you’re in and how good you are, where you just get beaten by inferior teams. It happens all the time. It happened to Louisville. It happened to Duke. It happened to Michigan. And it’s going to happen at some point to Florida. This is a nice spot for that to happen in. The men in orange and blue were just favored by 17.5 points at home against a very good Ole Miss team that is almost certainly going to be dancing this year. Of course, the Rebs were playing with a very short bench, which is why the spread was so high, and they did find a way to cover the number in the game. However, it didn’t dismiss the domination which Florida showed for most of the game. The Razorbacks have been awesome at home all year long though, losing just one game to the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse might be a better team than Florida is, but regardless, we know that it is a comparable game. The Hogs have proven that they can run with any team in America, and they are going to run as fast as they can at the Gators to try to get them off their game. If they do that, maybe… just maybe… there will be an upset in the cards on Tuesday night.

Florida vs. Arkansas Pick: Arkansas Razorbacks +11
Florida vs. Arkansas Prediction: Arkansas 78 – Florida 75
