The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Tuesday night. The Florida State Seminoles and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will have it the first round of the NIT, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN3.com.

Atlantic 10 Tournament Finals Picks: #5 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs @ #4 Florida State Seminoles
Date: Tuesday, March 19th, 7:15 ET
Location: Donald L. Tucker Center, Tallahassee, FL
Louisiana Tech vs. Florida State Live TV: ESPN3.com

First Round NIT Betting Lines
#5 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs +5
#4 Florida State Seminoles -5
Over/Under 143

The Bulldogs totally fell off the face of the earth at the end of the WAC season, losing on the road to both New Mexico State and Denver before getting ripped by Texas San Antonio in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament. This was a darn good team prior to this snafu in the schedule though, and perhaps getting away from a few days and taking on some new foes will help matters out a ton. Florida State really didn’t look all that interested at the end of the regular season, though it did win some home games here at the Tucker Center. Though this is a young team that is clearly going to be winning some more games in the future, we aren’t so sure that that desire is really there right now. FSU’s offense is generally anemic, and three of the last five games have featured scoring 62 points or fewer. This is a good opportunity to back the ‘under’, but it is an even better opportunity to take Louisiana Tech. If the Seminoles can lose at home to a team like South Alabama at the outset of the year, it can finish off its season by losing to a team like Louisiana Tech as well.

Louisiana Tech vs. Florida State Pick: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs +5
First Round NIT Predictions: Louisiana Tech 70 – Florida State 63

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Friday night. The North Carolina Tar Heels and Florida State Seminoles will have it the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

ACC Tournament Quarterfinals Picks: Florida State Seminoles vs. North Carolina Tar Heels
Date: Friday, March 15th, 2:30 ET
Location: United Center, Chicago, IL
Florida State vs. North Carolina Live TV: ESPN2

The Seminoles have made it to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, which should be good enough to get them into the NIT, but they aren’t going to get any further than this in Greensboro. The Noles have won three in a row and now have 18 wins on the season, but if you look at the games that they have played against the great teams this year in the ACC, you’ll see how great the margin is between them and the pack. FSU lost to NC State on the road by 18, Miami by six at home, Miami by 24 on the road, Duke by 19, and this North Carolina outfit at the Dean Smith Center by 21. The Tar Heels are decidedly the better of these two teams, and they are going to be playing off of a bye in the first round of this tournament, and with home court advantage on their side. Carolina is going to want to get that sour taste of its mouth of getting racked at home by the Dookies in its last regular season game. F James Michael McAdoo and the crew should put together an easy victory.

Florida State vs. North Carolina Pick: North Carolina Tar Heels
ACC Quarterfinals Prediction: North Carolina 79 – Florida State 61

Florida State and Virginia are most likely going to end up in the NIT this year, but neither team is stuck with that fate at this point. The Seminoles are merely hoping that they can claw together another win or two and get into the field of the NIT. Virginia is still in hope of getting into the NCAA Tournament, though its chances took a real hit when it was beaten by the Boston College Eagles in Chestnut Hill. This is another one of these types of games that could be devastating if lost. Though the Noles are only just barely above .500, they are still a dangerous team, especially now that F Terrance Shannon is back in the lineup. Don’t kid yourself as to how important this is for a team that has really lacked leadership all season long. G Michael Snaer and F Okaro White are both solid players, and Shannon could make this a great trio. The season is too late to salvage, but it isn’t too late to play the role of spoiler. Virginia is in some trouble going to the Sunshine State, and it is going to figure that out on Thursday night.

Virginia vs. Florida State Pick: Florida State Seminoles +4.5
Virginia vs. Florida State Prediction: Florida State 61 – Virginia 52

The Tar Heels are laying a bit more than a dozen points in this game, and they probably are deservedly doing just that. However, you have to go back quite some ways to find the last win by this type of a margin. UNC has have four straight wins by at least nine points, but none of those wins have come by more than 12. In fact, the only victory in the last month and a half that came by more than this margin was a home game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Seminoles meanwhile, really haven’t played well against most of the teams on the slate in the ACC, especially on the road. They do have a win at Georgia Tech and one at Clemson, but aside from that, the team has been slaughtered by Miami, Wake Forest, NC State, and Virginia Tech. It just isn’t a nice spot for the Seminoles to be in. Head Coach Leonard Hamilton’s team is going to take another fall towards the NIT (or worse) on Saturday, as the Tar Heels probably formally punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament once and for all.

Florida State vs. North Carolina Pick: North Carolina Tar Heels -12.5
Florida State vs. North Carolina Prediction: North Carolina 74 – Florida State 60

The Seminoles are going to hit the road this week to Raleigh, where they probably have to come up with a win if they want to realistically have any chance of dancing in March. If the Noles can find a way to win this one, there is no reason not to finish at 17-13 in the regular season, and two wins in the ACC Tournament will at least give them an intriguing case for the Selection Committee to consider. NC State isn’t quite safe yet either though, and it has looked like a flat out bad team over the course of the last five games. From the point that G Lorenzo Brown was hurt against the Virginia Cavaliers, the team has been atrocious, getting beaten in that game by UVA, losing to the Miami Hurricanes and Duke Blue Devils, and barely escaping the Clemson Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies. Brown is back in the fold, but it might not help in this one. There is really something wrong with the Pack, and unless they figure this one out in a span of just a couple days of practice, the Florida State defense could be good enough to revitalize this team’s season once again.

Florida State vs. NC State Pick: Florida State Seminoles +8.5
Florida State vs. NC State Prediction: Florida State 69 – NC State 66

Florida State is on life support right now, and it probably has to have this game and go on a great run over the course of the next several outings to have any chance of getting into the NCAA Tournament. The club has a great set of computer rankings, but the losses to teams like the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday (by 25!) aren’t helping matters any. The last time the Noles took on the Hurricanes, the game wasn’t really all that close, knowing that “The U” blew away FSU by 24 in a defensive slug fest. The problem that Florida State has is that just doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up, especially with F Terrance Shannon out of the lineup with a neck problem. The Miami defense is just too good, and the front line is just too talented for Florida State to hang. As long as the Hurricanes show up in Tallahassee on Wednesday night, the end result should be a double digit victory for the visitors.

Miami vs. Florida State Pick: Miami Hurricanes -6
Miami vs. Florida State Prediction: Miami 67 – Florida State 53

Prior to this recent run of success that the Seminoles have had, they had basically the exact same MO. They would come into games against powerhouse teams like North Carolina and Duke, beat them, and ultimately just barely miss out on the NCAA Tournament. When you look back at what FSU has accomplished of late against the Dookies though, you have to be impressed. Duke has always been the better team, but the Noles have won three of the last four both SU and ATS in this series, including in the ACC Tournament last year. The Seminoles are owners of a 12-5 ATS mark in the last 17 games against the Blue Devils. Coach K and the gang still don’t have F Ryan Kelly in the fold, and they really don’t look like an outstanding unit without him out there. Meanwhile, this game is the de facto Super Bowl for the Seminoles. Win it, and there’s still some hope to get into the dance. Lose it, and it’s going to be a long, uphill climb to get back to the bubble. Go with the garnet and gold for a court-storming upset.

Duke vs. Florida State Pick: Florida State Seminoles +7
Duke vs. Florida State Prediction: Florida State 77 – Duke 73

To beat the Orange Bowl odds, you have to put a heck of a lot of work into the game. Our college football expert handicappers have done just that here at Cappers Info, and we think that we have the winning edge for the clash between the Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Florida State Seminoles.

Orange Bowl Picks: Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Florida State Seminoles
Date: Tuesday, January 1st, 8:30 ET
Location: Sun Life Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
Orange Bowl Betting Odds: Florida State -13.5
Northern Illinois vs. Florida State Live TV Coverage: ESPN

There are a couple of countering forces going against each other in this game, and that makes this one of the tougher ones to handicap, especially for someone that is jaded by wearing garnet and gold glasses (figure we should get that out there in the first place). This is a big game with a big prize at the end of it, and Florida State has a good history of playing in bowl games of late. The team has won four bowl games in a row, and the only bowl games that it has lost of late were the 2007 Music City Bowl when seemingly half of the team was suspended and the 2005 Orange Bowl in which the club was overmatched by Penn State. Aside from that, this team has been golden in these spots, and that win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last year in the Champs Sports Bowl looks darn good at the moment, knowing that the Golden Domers haven’t lost since that point.

Northern Illinois is the trendy pick in this one, and there are some good reasons for that. The Florida State defensive line is all banged up, and that could be the key for QB Jordan Lynch to do the necessary damage to get the ball moving against the Noles. Remember that Lynch rushed for 1,771 yards and threw for 2,962 yards this year, though this is obviously the biggest challenge that he has faced this year. The Huskies dropped oodles of points on teams from the MAC, but the defense still gives us some cause for concern. Remember that this team allowed 19.0 points per game, but we really should discount games against teams like Massachusetts, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Buffalo, and Tennessee Martin. Just count games against bowl teams this year, and NIU allowed 27.0 points per game.

FSU’s defense hasn’t really been beaten up this year in any game that it shouldn’t have been, save for perhaps the game against the Florida Gators. If there is an answer for Lynch, this game will be a romp. The Noles will score against this defense as long as they want to be in this game. If they do, this will look a heck of a lot like the game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Hawaii Warriors a few years ago, and a heck of a lot less like the Boise State Broncos and the Oklahoma Sooners from the old Fiesta Bowl. Don’t be afraid to lay the lumber with the garnet and gold, as this game could ultimately get ugly.

Northern Illinois vs. Florida State Pick: Florida State Seminoles -13.5
Orange Bowl Score Prediction: Florida State 41 – Northern Illinois 17

It was only a week and a half ago that Florida bounced Florida State here in Tallahassee, and now, the two teams get a chance to go at it once again on Wednesday night on the hardwood. This was projected to be a Top 15 battle earlier this year, but FSU just hasn’t lived up to the hype after losses to South Alabama, Minnesota, and Mercer. The Seminoles just aren’t playing defense with the same gusto that they have in years past, as they have allowed at least 61 points in every single one of their games. That’s terrible for a team that went through most of the year last year averaging less than that allowed per game. Meanwhile, Florida is rolling through literally everyone at the moment, and Head Coach Billy Donovan and company haven’t been in a game that has been decided by 13 points or fewer (and that includes beating the snot out of Wisconsin and Marquette). This is the team’s first road game of the year, but it shouldn’t be all that much of a struggle against an FSU team that is out of its own character.

Florida vs. Florida State Pick: Florida -4.5
Florida vs. Florida State Prediction: Florida 74 – Florida State 61

The ACC Championship Game appears to be a foregone conclusion that it is going to be Florida State’s game, but I’m really not that sure that this is going to be a good day for my beloved Noles. There is a lot that has been made about the fact that RB Orwin Smith is going to likely sit out of the ACC Championship Game, but it really seems to be more important that DE Tank Carradine and DE Brandon Jenkins are both out for the garnet and gold. Head Coach Jimbo Fisher has his work cut out for him to work with his defense without two of its stars, and now without Defensive Coordinator Mark Stoops, who has left for the job with the Kentucky Wildcats. Florida State really hasn’t played well of late, and the team notoriously underachieves in games like this one. Georgia Tech is a tough team to try to prepare for, and I really just don’t know if my team’s heart is going to be in it or not.

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Pick: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +14
Florida State vs. Georgia Tech Score Prediction: Georgia Tech 38 – Florida State 31

The Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles are going to square off in Week 13 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Saturday.

Week 13 College Football Picks: Florida Gators @ Florida State Seminoles

CFB Betting Odds: Florida State -6
Florida vs. Florida State Live TV: ABC

Say goodnight to the Gators. Florida’s offense has mustered just 50 total points against Jacksonville State and Louisiana Lafayette over the course of the last two weeks, and the only reason that the Ragin’ Cajuns were beaten was on the back of a blocked punt returned for a touchdown to win the game. Before that with QB Jeff Driskel in the lineup, the Gators had scored just 14 against a Missouri team that has one of the worst defenses in the SEC and nine against Georgia. That just isn’t going to cut it in this one. Florida State is searching for respect, and the only way that it is going to get that is by going out and beating down a team that is significantly overrated. It still won’t change the fact that the Seminoles aren’t in the national championship hunt, but it will ensure once again who the most dominating team in the state of Florida is, and it will prove that the ACC deserves at least a higher level of respect and that the SEC bias should at least be tempered just a bit.

The Florida State Seminoles and the Virginia Tech Hokies are going to square off in Week 11 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Thursday.

Week 11 College Football Picks: Florida State Seminoles @ Virginia Tech Hokies
Date: Thursday, November 8th, 7:30 ET
Location: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA
CFB Betting Odds: Florida State -13.5
Florida State vs. Virginia Tech Live TV: ESPN

My dear Seminoles are on the verge of the ACC Championship, and with as badly as Maryland is playing, this is essentially for the ACC Atlantic Division title. QB EJ Manuel hasn’t truly played a bad game this year, something that QB Logan Thomas had done plenty of for the Hokies this year. However, what does have to be remembered is that Virginia Tech has gone 4-0 SU at home this year, and it is historically a team that wins a ton of games, especially under the lights right here at this venue. The season is on the line for the Hokies, who need to win two more games this year just to get to a bowl game, and the truth of the matter is that they probably just about control their own destiny to win the ACC Coastal Division as well. In this situation, there is just no way that we could lay this many points with Florida State, even off of a bye week.

Florida State @ Virginia Tech Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies +13.5
Florida State @ Virginia Tech Score Prediction: Florida State 21 – Virginia Tech 17
