The Hawkeyes have worked all year long to get to the NCAA Tournament, but they didn’t get the job done. This is going to be a tough one for sure, though. Indiana State was a bubble team for a good chunk of the season until it fell apart down the stretch of the season, but we still think that the Sycamores have a team that could win this tournament if it has its head on straight. This is a much better defensive team than it seems, and saw that in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament when it held down both the Evansville Purple Aces and the Creighton Blue Jays. There are some scorers as well on this outfit. G Jake Odum can knock down a ton of shots, and F RJ Mahurin can as well. This is a particularly dangerous spot for Iowa. The Hawkeyes are one of the most talented teams in the land, and the only reason that they aren’t dancing right now is because they played a horrid non-conference schedule. We think that this is a game the likes of which the Sycamores are ready for, and Hawkeyes perhaps aren’t. We’re going to call for the upset, but even if Iowa did hold serve at home, this is a whole boatload of points to be giving a pretty darn good team that is tremendously underrated.
