Blackhawks Lead Series 3-1

5DimesThe Kings are probably the one outfit that no team really wanted to face in these playoffs. However, when you can find a way to get past G Jonathan Quick on a consistent basis, something that no one was able to do last year in May and June, this isn’t such a tough team to take down. LA has proven in this series that it just doesn’t have the offensive horses in this series to be able to put games away unless Quick is at his best. We haven’t even really seen the best out of the Blackhawks yet in this series, as we know that C Jonathan Toews only has one goal for the whole postseason. The truth of the matter though, is that teams have had a real problem closing out opponents throughout this entire postseason. It really seems as though every time one team has another down, something happens. We saw it happen with Toronto against Boston in the East, and we saw it happen with Chicago against Detroit in the West. There could be a bit of magic working in the Western Conference Finals, and we certainly aren’t ready to write off the Kings quite yet. Quick is still the best goaltender on the planet at the moment, and as long as that fact remains true, he has the ability to go 40-for-40 on shots against to manage a win virtually all by himself. We have to think that there’s at least a 40% chance of that happening on Saturday night.

Our Chicago Blackhawks at Los Angeles Kings Game 4 picks are hot from the presses, and here at Cappers Info, we’re presenting our NHL picks and predictions for what should be yet another great Thursday night fight here in the second season.

Game 4 Picks: Chicago Blackhawks at Los Angeles Kings
Date: Thursday, June 6th, 9:00 ET
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
NHL Betting Odds: Kings -116
Blackhawks vs. Kings NHL On TV: NBC Sports Network

Blackhawks Lead Series 2-1

NHL BookmakerBy the standards of a hockey game where the odds are relatively close to a pick ‘em, the Kings are substantially square. They are getting at least 60% of the reported action at a ton of sportsbooks, and the NHL lines just aren’t moving off of this -120ish range. D Duncan Keith being suspended does take a bit of the wind out of our sails, but we still have all of the confidence in the world that the Blackhawks are going to, at some point, become the first team to win a game at the Staples Center in these playoffs. This is the most logical game for it to happen in, knowing that LA is high as a kite after winning a game that legitimately could have gone either way in Game 3. G Jonathan Quick didn’t have the toughest night in the world, as he only had to make 19 saves in the game to get the win. What history will tell you though, is once the pressure is turned up on Quick and he has to face a number of shots, these Blackhawks just find ways to get pucks past him when push comes to shove. This doesn’t have to be a thing of beauty, but Chicago needs to just get more pucks on frame to force Quick to make some saves. In G Corey Crawford we trust. He isn’t giving up two goals once again in this one, and the Blackhawks will flip the script from the last game and claim a multi-goal victory.

Blackhawks Lead Series 2-0

Bovada NHL PlayoffsBoth the Eastern Conference Finals and the Western Conference Finals have been one-sided over the course of the first two games of each series. In this case though, the Kings are coming back home, as opposed to the Penguins, who have to go on the road. Chicago has put six pucks past G Jonathan Quick on Saturday and Sunday, but terms should be a little bit more level now. The Kings were in a tremendously bad spot coming into Games 1 and 2 in the Windy City. They only essentially had one day to prepare for the team that won the Presidents’ Trophy, and they had to travel across the country as well. They played games on back to back days as well for the first time in this postseason. Now, both of these teams have played two games, and they are both going to have to fly from Chicago to LA. This is the first time that these two teams are going to be playing at the Staples Center since the very first game of the season, and on that day, Quick was lit up for five goals early on and didn’t ultimately figure out how to get into the game. We have to think that this is the time that Quick is finally going to shine. He is the better of these two goalies, and he can still win this game all by himself.

Blackhawks Lead Series 1-0

5DimesThe Blackhawks weren’t a flawless team by any stretch of the imagination on Saturday night, but they did get the job done and won 2-1. The Hawks got two goals from their top stars, RW Marian Hossa and LW Patrick Sharp, and they clearly were the better of the two teams. Chicago outshot the Kings 17-2 in the very first period of the Western Conference Finals, and it was very unfortunate not to be ahead in the game. Instead, RW Justin Williams scored a goal for the Kings on one of the two shots that they took, and G Jonathan Quick was a pillar in the pipes. Los Angeles knows that it has all sorts of problems right now if it can’t generate some more offense. It did get better as the game went on, while Quick continued to have a good game in spite of the fact that he got the loss. The Blackhawks fired off 36 shots, 31 of which came in the first period. Still, we think that Quick has the ability to get the job done all by himself, and we have a tough time believing that the Kings aren’t going to be able to get out of the Windy City with a split of these first two games. It would probably be a very deserving result.

Series Tied 0-0

NHL BookmakerMany are just assuming that the Blackhawks are going to get the job done here early in this series, especially knowing that the Kings have only won one road game all postseason long in two rounds. However, we aren’t all that sure that’s the case. Chicago had to scratch and claw just to figure out how to beat the Detroit Red Wings last round, and we think that the fight that it had to put up is ultimately going to take a little something out of it, especially early in this series. The one constant that we have seen over the course of these playoffs, more so than any other constant, is that G Jonathan Quick has been amazing. He has allowed just 11 goals in his last eight games, and he is going to be playing against an offense that, at times, has been a lot more suspect than its regular season numbers suggest. Quick was beaten and beaten badly twice by the Blackhawks this year, and he isn’t going to forget about it. Don’t be all that shocked if he comes out with guns blazing tonight to put away the boys from the Windy City in the form of a shutout.

Our Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks Game 4 picks are hot from the presses, and here at Cappers Info, we’re presenting our NHL picks and predictions for what should be yet another great Tuesday night fight here in the second season.

Game 4 Picks: Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks
Date: Tuesday, May 21st, 10:00 ET
Location: HP Pavilion, San Jose, CA
NHL Betting Odds: Sharks -125
Kings vs. Sharks NHL On TV: NBC Sports Network

Kings Lead Series 2-1

NHL BookmakerThe Kings and the Sharks only combined to score three goals in the first game played here at the Shark Tank in this series, but we think that this one is going to feature a few more opportunities and a few more goals as well. G Jonathan Quick lost his mind at the end of overtime in Game 3, and we think that he is going to end up getting a few calls go against him when push comes to shove after his tirade against the officials that earned him a game misconduct penalty after the game was said and done with. We also love the way that the Sharks top line is playing right now. All four of C Logan Couture, C Joe Pavelski, C Joe Thornton, and LW Patrick Marleau have at least eight points in seven games in the playoffs, and they all got together and accounted for both of the goals in Game 3. The Kings haven’t played poorly offensively in the playoffs, though there have definitely been some bad games to show for their work. Take out those first few games against the St. Louis Blues, and LA is good for a healthy 2.67 goals per game. We don’t need a whole heck of a lot to get the job done, as a game where both teams score twice is good enough for us. We’re playing a rare ‘over’ in the postseason on Tuesday night.

Kings Lead Series 2-0

5DimesThe Sharks absolutely have to be disheartened about the way that Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals went. They fell behind 2-0 before clawing back and scoring three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead, and they held that lead until the last two minutes of the game. They won the faceoff battle 44-21, they were holding the Kings to less than a shot every other minute on average at that point, and they got production out of their top lines once again, something that was tremendously lacking in Game 1. Yet somehow, it wasn’t enough. D Brad Stuart and D Marc-Edouard Vlasic both scored goals in Game 2, but they aren’t going to be remembered for those goals. They’re going to be remembered for the penalties that they took in succession that allowed LA to go on a 5-on-3 power play with less than two minutes left in the game. Not only did the Kings strike once, but they struck twice to turn what looked like a near sure loss and turn it into a victory. Can San Jose really rebound from such a defeat? We think that it can, but we don’t think that it will. The Kings are starting to look a lot like the group that ultimately won the Stanley Cup last year, and the roster is largely the same. We want that group on our side more often than not on Saturday.

Kings Lead Series 1-0

Bovada NHL PlayoffsThe Kings really got off to a great start over the course of the Western Conference Semifinals, but we really don’t believe that it was anything that most of the skaters had to offer. In fact, purely from a skating standpoint, we think that the Sharks were every bit as good as LA was. San Jose fired off 35 shots on goal against just 20 that it allowed, and it dominated the third period, albeit in a trailing role from down 2-0. D Slava Voynov has had an amazing postseason, and he continued it on Tuesday night when he scored his third goal of the playoffs, but the man of the hour is clearly G Jonathan Quick. Quick was the man that had to stand in front of all 35 of those shots, and he found a way to dismiss all of them, blanking the Sharks in the process. This time around, we think that we are going to see a bit of a different result. It’s not going to take all that much in this series for the Sharks to be able to win games, as two goals would probably do it on most nights, and three virtually certainly would. It’s easier said than done to be able to get the job done if you’re San Jose, but we think that there is probably about a 50/50 chance that it is going to end up winning this game by putting three goals up against Quick.

Series Tied 0-0

NHL BookmakerBoth the Kings and the Sharks have won four games in a row, and they are both heading into the second round of the playoffs with tons of confidence. Unfortunately for the Sharks, they have had to deal with a full week off, and even more unfortunate is the fact that they absolutely do not have the better of these two teams. Things are just working right now for LA. RW Dustin Penner nailed the series-winning shot at 20:00 of the second period against the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 at home, and you just don’t get that type of lucky break every day. G Jonathan Quick was arguably the best goalie over the course of the whole first round of the playoffs, and he had to stand toe to toe with a team that allowed a total of just three goals in its first three games of this postseason. We knew if things came together for the champs that they were going to be a tough team to get rid of in these playoffs, and we think that is exactly how this is going to play out. This is a series that will belong to the Kings for sure as we see it, and this opening game is only going to be a microcosm for how this series is ultimately going to end up going.

Our St. Louis Blues at Los Angeles Kings Game 6 picks are hot from the presses, and here at Cappers Info, we’re presenting our NHL picks and predictions for what should be yet another great Friday night fight here in the second season.

Game 6 Picks: St. Louis Blues at Los Angeles Kings
Date: Friday, May 10th, 10:00 ET
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
NHL Betting Odds: Kings -155
Blues vs. Kings NHL On TV: NBC Sports Network

Kings Lead Series 3-2

NHL BookmakerDon’t you just get the feeling that G Jonathan Quick is about set to come up with a huge performance like he did in Game 3? The shutout victory in the first game here at Staples Center was the one that really turned the tide of this series around, and all of a sudden, the Kings went from down 0-2 to up 3-2. Quick hasn’t always been at his best, but he has found a way to do enough to win. Take away that first five minutes or so of Game 4, and he has allowed just three goals in his last three games, and one of those, the goal that tied the game in Game 5 in the third period, wouldn’t have been stopped by any goalie on the planet with the number of bodies that that puck got through. Quick now has a 1.69 GAA and a .942 save percentage, and he is simply outplaying G Brian Elliott, who is doing well in his own right. The Kings have won seven straight against St. Louis here at Staples Center, and they have won 13 of the last 16 games in this series overall dating back a few seasons. LA was able to close this series out at home when it got the chance last year, and this was a team that played well when it had its foes on the ropes in the postseason a season ago. We expect nothing less than a dominating effort by Quick on Friday night, as the Kings march onto the Western Conference Semifinals to get ready for a date with most likely the Anaheim Ducks.

NHL Betting Odds: Blues -130
Kings vs. Blues NHL On TV: CNBC

Series Tied 2-2

NHL BookmakerThe Kings have finally made their breakthrough offensively. They managed to get 29 shots on goal for the third time in four games in this series in Game 4, but this time, those shots turned into some goals. LA already had its series-best two goals on the board in the middle of the second period, fighting back from a 2-0 hole that practically looked insurmountable for a team that had only scored a total of three goals in three games prior to that point. However, when you really look at what was accomplished in that game, there wasn’t much going on beyond the first period, and the two teams only fired off a combined 51 shots, the same number is there were in the 1-0 Game 3 back on Saturday. We have little reason to think that anything is going to change when push comes to shove. We expect this game to return this series to its low scoring ways, and we wouldn’t be all that shocked if the Blues got back to holding teams down to just a single goal in their games. They have done it in nine out of 11, and if they do it again, this one won’t reach the ‘total’.

Blues Lead Series 2-1

Bovada NHL PlayoffsWe just don’t know what the oddsmakers are doing in this one. The Kings did win 1-0 thanks to a huge effort from G Jonathan Quick in Game 3, but that was a massive game that just cannot be expected to continue. The constant in this series hasn’t been Quick, though. It has been the St. Louis defense. The Blues have held Los Angeles down to just one goal in each of the three games in this series. We just don’t see how that’s going to change. And, as we have said before in this series, there is no way possible for the Kings to win a game by two goals. St. Louis is the better of these two teams, and it is insulting in fact, that it is the tremendous underdog in this game. The Blues should be able to hold down the LA offense once again, perhaps to just one goal, and maybe even in a shutout this time around. It’s not that the Blues have really been that remarkable, but we have to think that they are going to likely win this game, and certainly figure out how to not lose by more than a single goal, barring perhaps an empty netter that simply would make us unlucky.

Blues vs. Kings Game 4 Pick: St. Louis Blues +1.5 (-250)
Blues at Kings Score Prediction: St. Louis 2 – Los Angeles 1
