Few are going to be paying attention to the 7/10 game in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, especially with so many other great games on tap, but we think we have a great angle to back here on the college basketball odds between Purdue and Nebraska. This feels like the type of game where the Boilermakers are square, knowing that they have knocked off the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Wisconsin Badgers, the latter of which came on the road, no less. These wins have come in just the last two weeks, and a close loss at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines was thrown into the mix as well. Still, this is a team that has been wildly inconsistent offensively all season long, and we think that could rear its ugly head again in this one. Big Red has an underrated defense that is going to be able to get some good work done against the Boilermakers for sure. The Cornhuskers have lost a lot of games of late, but this is a much different challenge on a neutral court than these recent road tests have been. In fact, remember that the Children of the Corn went 9-5-1 ATS this year in home games. This one isn’t quite at home, but it isn’t on the road either. We want the points on our side in this one.

Nebraska vs. Purdue Pick: Nebraska Cornhuskers +5.5
Big Ten Tournament First Round Predictions: Nebraska 62 – Purdue 61

December 31st, 2012 By Jack Wilshire

BovadaThe Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Georgia Bulldogs are set to kick off the 2013 Capital One Bowl on Tuesday 1/1, and I’m set to make my Capital One Bowl pick for the affair at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Kickoff is set for 1:00 ET, and I’ve got the perfect NCAA football pick for the Capital One Bowl.

2013 Capital One Bowl
Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-3, 6-6-1 ATS) +8.5
Georgia Bulldogs (11-2, 7-6 ATS) -8.5
Over/Under 60.5

One of the little known facts that you won’t find about the bowl season this year that I dug up is that the Cornhuskers have actually played eight of their 12 games beyond the ‘total’ this year. This is a team that is always billed to be one of the best defensive teams in the land. It’s true that this secondary is out of this world, but when you get to the front seven, the Black Shirts just aren’t as strong as they normally are. The end result is that the team has been trampled by the Ohio State Buckeyes and Wisconsin Badgers in a pair of brutal losses against teams that just drilled the ball right down their throats.

Enter: Georgia. The Bulldogs actually found a way to run on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, as RB Todd Gurley had a remarkable game for a freshman on such a big stage. He nearly won the game all by himself against what is perceived to be the best team in America and likely the national champs. Yes, the Bulldogs were beaten by the South Carolina Gamecocks, but every team is allowed a mulligan. In the SEC, going 11-1 in the regular season and then losing by a matter of a few yards to the Crimson Tide still makes you one of the best teams in America. Remember too, that not only can UGA run it, but QB Aaron Murray has a cannon of an arm, and he has had a great year in which he has thrown for nearly 3,500 yards in the SEC.

Huge 50% Sportsbook Bonus at Bovada Sportsbook

I just can’t help but wonder if the Cornhuskers are going to get tattooed in this game and totally run off of the tracks by the Georgia offense. The Bulldogs averaged 37.2 points per game this year, and I’ve got to think that they are at least going to get to that mark in this one as well. As long as QB Taylor Martinez doesn’t ultimately screw me over, this should be an ‘over’ contest on New Year’s Day to kick off 2013.

To beat the Capital One Bowl odds, you have to put a heck of a lot of work into the game. Our college football expert handicappers have done just that here at Cappers Info, and we think that we have the winning edge for the clash between the Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Georgia Bulldogs.

Capital One Bowl Picks: Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Georgia Bulldogs
Date: Tuesday, January 1st, 1:00 ET
Location: Florida Citrus Bowl, Orlando, FL
Capital One Bowl Betting Odds: Georgia -8.5
Nebraska vs. Georgia Live TV Coverage: ABC

The last time that we saw the Cornhuskers, they were busy getting trampled by the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Championship Game. They still have one of the best secondaries in the country, thus one of the best pass defenses in the land at 148.2 yards per game, but all of their defensive stats were skewed by the 70-31 loss in that one. The team had won six straight games in conference prior to that, but when Nebraska has been bad, it has been awful. We also really don’t trust QB Taylor Martinez, as he hasn’t proven all that much to us in his first few years with the Children of the Corn in the biggest games that he has played, and this is going to be a really tough test against a team that has a lot to prove in this one.

The Bulldogs came up just a few yards short of playing for the BCS National Championship this year, and they are going to be in the middle of a real fight in this one if they don’t bring their A-Game. If they do though, they really shouldn’t have all that much in the way of problems. QB Aaron Murray threw for 3,458 yards this year and has rounded into one of the best quarterbacks that the SEC has to offer, and RB Todd Gurley has matured quickly as a freshman and has a chance to break all sorts of school rushing records when push comes to shove if he stays for all four years in Athens. This year, Gurley had 1,260 yards and 16 trips to the end zone, and he played a yeoman’s game against the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game.

Remember two years ago when Alabama was shut out of the BCS? The team came to the Sunshine State and blew the doors off of the Michigan State Spartans, whom many think were shafted out of the BCS that year. That’s sort of what this game reminds us of. Nebraska has allowed at least 63 points twice this year, and though we don’t think that that will ultimately happen again when push comes to shove, we just don’t see how Martinez is going to keep the ball moving against this unit. If he does, it’ll be a shock to us, as we think that this is going to be a one-romp from the opening kickoff. Look for the Dawgs to have their day, as they lock up finishing in the Top 5 in the country this year with a 12-2 record.

Nebraska vs. Georgia Pick: Georgia Bulldogs -8.5

The 2012 college football season is back, and here at Cappers Info, we’ll be looking at some of the best games on the docket each and every week, as we try to make the most money possible off of the CFB odds for the week. Join us on Saturday night, as we make our Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Wisconsin Badgers free picks and predictions for what should be a great clash on the gridiron.

Week 14 College Football Picks: Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Date: Saturday, December 1st, 8:17 ET
Location: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -2.5
Nebraska vs. Wisconsin Live TV: FOX

Experience is definitely on the side of the Badgers in this one, as they have picked up some massive wins in the Big Ten before and have played in back to back Rose Bowls. All good things come to an end though, and that’s what we are going to see in this one on Saturday night. RB Montee Ball has really had a great two games in his career against the Huskers, but the Black Shirts defense knows what’s coming from a very one-dimensional Wisconsin outfit. Meanwhile, QB Taylor Martinez has put together a great campaign with his arm (2,483 yards, 21 TDs) and his legs (833 yards, 8 TDs). There isn’t a player in America that deserves this moment more than Martinez does, as he has been through a lot over the course of his first three years here in Lincoln. Don’t be shocked, especially knowing how well this defense is playing right now, if the Cornhuskers come out and stymy the Badgers to move on to the Rose Bowl for the first time as members of the Big Ten.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Iowa Hawkeyes are going to square off in Week 13 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Friday.

Week 13 College Football Picks: Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Iowa Hawkeyes
Date: Friday, November 23rd, 12:00 ET
Location: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -14.5
Nebraska vs. Iowa Live TV: ABC

As impossible as it seems to take Iowa right now, we feel like we have no choice but to do just that. The team is going to want to go out as a winner this year after five straight losses in the Big Ten, and it might need to do so to save the job of Head Coach Kirk Ferentz. Meanwhile, Nebraska knows what the goal is for this one, as all that it has to do is win (or get Michigan to lose) to get to the Big Ten Championship Game next week. Without the Rose Bowl bid, the Cornhuskers would be relegated to the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl, and there is a huge reward for getting to Pasadena instead of the Sunshine State. QB Taylor Martinez isn’t as good as he has played these last few weeks, and QB James Vandenberg is clearly better than he has played all season long. Every trick has to come out of the bag now, and it will for Iowa. The Cornhuskers will win this game and move on to the Big Ten title game as expected, but it won’t be easy, and there could be some touch and go moments as the afternoon wears on

Nebraska @ Iowa Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes +14.5

Of all of the games on the Saturday 11/17 college football betting schedule, one of my favorite is the clash between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Join me for my Week 12 tips for this 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff that can be seen on the Big Ten Network.

Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-4, 5-5 ATS) +19
Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-2, 5-4-1 ATS) -19
Over/Under 53.5

As much as I hate to make the public play, it really seems as though the Cornhuskers are the right side on Saturday, even laying 19 points against a defense that is allowing under 24 points per game on average. Remember that Minnesota has played a really, really weak schedule this year that included teams like UNLV and New Hampshire, and the only potential bowl teams that the squad beat this year were Purdue and Syracuse, and neither of those were givens either.

What’s more depressing if you’re a Golden Gopher is how badly the best teams in the Big Ten have beaten your team up. Remember that the Gophers were dropped just two weeks ago by 22 points by the Michigan Wolverines, who didn’t have QB Denard Robinson for the game. They were also beaten by the Wisconsin Badgers in the only truly tough road game of the year by 25 points.

In the end, there are just too many red flags that are going up here around Minnesota. Every light is turning green for Nebraska, and I’ve got no choice but to trust that QB Taylor Martinez, RB Ameer Abdullah, and the crew are going to find their way to the win column by a relatively comfortable margin against a Minnesota team that the Huskers crippled 41-14 last year.

Minnesota @ Nebraska Tips: Nebraska Cornhuskers -19

Join us on Saturday night, as we make our Penn State Nittany Lions @ Nebraska Cornhuskers free picks and predictions for what should be a great clash on the gridiron.

Week 11 College Football Picks: Penn State Nittany Lions @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
Date: Saturday, November 10th, 3:30 ET
Location: Nebraska Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -7
Penn State @ Nebraska Live TV: ABC/ESPN2

We really like the idea that there are going to be plenty of points in this game when these two meet up in Big Red Country. The Children of the Corn have scored at least 23 points in all of their games this year, and QB Taylor Martinez and the crew are really moving up and down the field with a powerful running attack in tote. Penn State was figured to be a wreck offensively after its first two games of the year, but after losing to the Ohio Bobcats and Virginia Cavaliers, the team has put up an average of over 32 points per game. Plus, we have to remember that it was the kicking game that really failed against Virginia, or the Nittany Lions would have put up at least 25, if not significantly more in that game. This is an offense that should not be rested upon, as QB Mat McGloin is one of the better signal callers in this conference. Don’t be all that shocked if this turns out to be a game where both teams are approaching the 30s, nothing like what we saw when they met last year in the first game of the post-Joe Paterno era at Beaver Stadium.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Michigan State Spartans are going to square off in Week 10 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Saturday.

Week 10 College Football Picks: Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Michigan State Spartans
Date: Saturday, November 3rd, 3:30 ET
Location: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -1.5
Nebraska vs. Michigan State Live TV: ABC/ESPN2

The Cornhuskers are going to be able to put a stamp on the Big Ten Legends Division by winning this game, but if this is lost, all of a sudden, this is a wide open division once again, and just about anyone could still be on their way to the Big Ten Championship Game out of this six-pack of teams. QB Taylor Martinez really has to take over as a leader of this team, both with his arm and his legs. It is the defense that had a great effort against the Michigan Wolverines last week, a 23-9 victory against QB Denard Robinson and the gang. MSU came up with a 16-13 win last week at Camp Randall against the Wisconsin Badgers, and that was the third straight game in which the team held a foe in the teens. The bad news, though? If was also the third straight game scoring in the teens as well. Nebraska has won and covered all four games in this series dating back to 1995, and we think that, thanks to QB Andrew Maxwell’s deficiencies, that will be the case once again.

Nebraska @ Michigan State Pick: Nebraska Cornhuskers -1.5
Nebraska @ Michigan State Score Prediction: Nebraska 27 – Michigan State 13

Date: Saturday, October 27th, 8:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -2.5
Michigan vs. Nebraska Live TV: ESPN2

QB Taylor Martinez and QB Denard Robinson should have a field day against one another one Saturday night, as both men figure to light up the scoreboard in what might be the most important game of the season in the Big Ten. In fact, in spite of the fact that Michigan is just barely in the Top 25 and Nebraska is just barely out of it, the winner of this game is likely to end up playing the Wisconsin Badgers for the Big Ten title in December for the right to go to the Rose Bowl. Robinson absolutely torched the Cornhuskers last year, and this Nebraska defense has already been crippled by QB Braxton Miller and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Those two games combined for 108 points against this Nebraska defense. If this unit doesn’t improve this week, it will be Robinson that is celebrating a huge effort both on the ground and in the air for his Wolverines.

Michigan @ Nebraska Pick: Michigan +2.5
Michigan @ Nebraska Score Prediction: Michigan 41 – Nebraska 35

October 6th, 2012 By Jack Wilshire

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Week 6 Saturday college football odds pits the Ohio State Buckeyes against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. These two are going to be meeting at 8:00 p.m. ET at Ohio Stadium, and I’m going to show you which side to make your CFB pick on for this great game.

#20 Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-1, 3-2 ATS) +3
Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0, 2-3 ATS) -3
Over/Under 56.5

I just don’t understand this one. The Cornhuskers are only getting three points, which is the value of not quite home field advantage. Ohio State seems to be the better of these two teams… right?

QB Taylor Martinez seems to be just a poor man’s QB Braxton Miller. The Nebraska defense is averaging allowing 20.6 points per game. Ohio State’s? 17.0 points per game, and that came against a heck of a lot more difficult schedule than the one that the Big Red Nation has played so far this year. WR Devin Smith and WR Philly Brown? A heck of a lot better than anything that the Huskers are going to bring to the table as well. OSU has more defenders that are going to be headed to the NFL next year and in the near future than what Nebraska has.

So I ask the question once again: Why in the heck is Ohio State only favored by a field goal in this game? The Buckeyes have already taken Michigan State out of the Top 25, and Nebraska might be the next team to go. Ohio State lost this game last year in Lincoln, but it has a severely different team. Being back at home will lead the Buckeyes to their sixth win of the season.

Nebraska @ Ohio State Tips: Ohio State -3

The Wisconsin Badgers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going to square off in Week 5 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Saturday.

Week 5 College Football Picks: Wisconsin Badgers @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
Date: Saturday, September 29th, 8:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -11.5
Wisconsin vs. Nebraska Live TV: ABC

When ABC signed up for this game, they probably thought that they were getting a pair of Top 10 teams that were going to be slugging it out in a potential preview of the Big Ten Championship Game. Now, it’s going to be more of an iffy proposition, as neither team might be in the Big Ten Championship and only the winner of the game will be ranked in the Top 25 when this week is said and done with. Wisky has been a train wreck this year, but we just aren’t all that sure that Nebraska is any less of a wreck in the long run. QB Taylor Martinez had no chance to get the ball in the end zone all that much last year in Camp Randall in a game that ended in a 31-point blowout. It might be payback time, but to ask this Nebraska team to cover a spread this big against a team that still isn’t all that far removed from last year’s Rose Bowl effort. The Badgers couldn’t have fallen this far this fast.

Wisconsin @ Nebraska Pick: Wisconsin +11.5
Wisconsin @ Nebraska Score Prediction: Nebraska 30 – Wisconsin 20

College football betting fans are running to their online sportsbooks to place their Arkansas State Red Wolves vs. Nebraska bets and predictions, and here at Cappers Info, we are making our Saturday football picks for this encounter.

Week 3 College Football Picks: Arkansas State Red Wolves @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
Date: Saturday, September 15th, 12:00 ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE
CFB Betting Odds: Nebraska -22
Arkansas State vs. Nebraska Live TV: ESPN2

There has been a lot of late action over the course of the last few days on the Red Wolves, and we definitely understand it with QB Ryan Aplin showing the ability to put a ton of points on the board in a hurry. Of course, we’ve also seen a pretty lousy Arkansas State defense in action as well. The good news for us though, is that this is a game in which the ‘total’ is continuing to fly. It’s now up to 67, which is just far too much for a Nebraska game. The Black Shirts defense is going to want to come out and shut down the Red Wolves after getting embarrassed last week by UCLA, and we think that they’ll find a way to get the job done for the majority of the game. Aplin and Head Coach Gus Malzahn won’t give the game up at any point and might put a couple tuddies on the board late, but there won’t be much else to speak of.

Arkansas State @ Nebraska Pick: Arkansas State/Nebraska Under 67
Arkansas State @ Nebraska Score Prediction: Nebraska 34 – Arkansas State 17
