PGA Tour Event: 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational
Dates: Thursday March 22nd-25th
Location: Bay Hill Golf & Country Club, Orlando, FL
PGA TV Schedule: Golf Channel, NBC

Arnold Palmer Pick #1: Phil Mickelson (+1250) @ WagerWeb Sportsbook: We know that Lefty should be the favorite to win this event, and we still aren’t all that sure what the heck all of the love is about for Tiger Woods. He has half the odds and probably about a tenth of the chance that Mickelson does of winning here at the Bay Hill. Mickelson has been great all year long, winning at Pebble Beach and nearly doing the exact same thing the very next week at the Northern Trust Open. He is playing great golf, and though there are others that are right on his tail, he is sure to be the man of the hour is if comes down to some big time golf on Sunday. There aren’t many golfers in the world that we would rather have on our side, and knowing that Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, and others are not here in the Sunshine State, Mickelson might be the man to beat.

Arnold Palmer Pick #2: Bubba Watson (+3000) @ WagerWeb Sportsbook: You aren’t going to find many more golfers on the PGA Tour that have played more consistently this year than Watson has. Sure, he hasn’t found his way to the winner’s circle yet, but he hasn’t finished worse than 18th in any event on the campaign. That is a remarkable feat, even this early in the season. Watson tied for fifth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and he was the runner up two weeks ago in his best tournament of the year, the Cadillac Championship. There is no doubt that this Florida native would love to come home and take down the Bay Hill crown, and he might do just that when push comes to shove.

Arnold Palmer Pick #3: Zach Johnson (+6000) @ WagerWeb Sportsbook: Johnson has seven wins in his career, but you have to go back almost two full years to find the last time that he claimed glory. He does have some great finishes, including when he won the 2007 Masters, and this tends to be the best time of year for him on the links. Unfortunately for Johnson, there really isn’t a lot to suggest that he can do all that well at this event. He only has one Top 10 finish all year long, and he didn’t shoot a single round in the 60s last year in this event. Still, Johnson is a golfer that can turn it on in a heartbeat, and he might be able to shock a lot of the top golfers in the world by carding some consistent rounds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
