The 2012 Sun Bowl picks are set to go here at Cappers Info, and we are ready to make our free bowl picks for all of the games on the schedule. Check out the USC vs. Georgia Tech picks and predictions for what should be a remarkable game.

Sun Bowl Picks: USC Trojans vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Date: Monday, December 31st, 2:00 ET
Location: Sun Bowl Stadium, El Paso, TX
Sun Bowl Betting Odds: USC -7.5
USC vs. Georgia Tech Live TV Coverage: CBS

Just taking one look at the talent for talent that is going to be on the field for this game on New Year’s Eve shows that the Men of Troy should ultimately dominate against the Ramblin’ Wreck. There are a few questions that really have to be asked, though. The first is whether the Trojans really give a damn about this game or not. They finished out the year with losses in four of their final five games of the campaign, they were outmatched by a number of teams in the Pac-12 that they are usually better than, and they ended up losing two games at home by two scores apiece. Now, they’re coming to the Sun Bowl in a year in which they were favored to win the Pac-12 and were once the No. 1 team in America.

Worse for USC is that QB Matt Barkley’s career is over. A disappointing senior season will be forgotten in the history books for sure for Barkley on his road to the NFL, but it might also signal a slightly earlier start than expected to the career of QB Max Wittek. The frosh did everything that he could against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the first start of his career, but in the end, he went just 14-of-23 for 186 yards with a TD and two picks, and he showed no comprehension of the no huddle offense. RB Silas Redd and RB Curtis McNeal were both relatively quiet, and though WR Robert Woods did score a TD, the fact of the matter is that he and WR Marqise Lee combined for just 12 catches and 167 yards.

Georgia Tech might have finished out the year below .500, but it is still a pain in the neck team to try to prepare for. The triple option is stingy, and the offensive line cut blocks a million times per game, something that really can slow down a very talented from seven for the Trojans. Remember that the Jackets did test the Florida State Seminoles all the way down to the wire in the ACC Championship Game, and the only game in which they really looked bad in the last month of the season was against the Georgia Bulldogs, and there was no shame in that loss. Don’t be shocked if this turns out to be a very close game if the Trojans just don’t show any heart.

USC vs. Georgia Tech Pick: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +10.5
Sun Bowl Score Prediction: Georgia Tech 27 – USC 20

December 31st, 2012 By Jack Wilshire

The Sun Bowl is one of the games on the college football bowl schedule this year, and today, I’m set to make my NCAA football pointspread picks for the ‘total’ in this clash. The USC Trojans and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are going to do battle at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, TX. Join me for my Sun Bowl tips for this 2:00 p.m. ET kickoff that can be seen on CBS.

I’ve got a tough time backing the under in a Georgia Tech game, knowing just how bad this team has been defensively at the ends of games this year. The Ramblin’ Wreck are just insanely thin, and regardless of who the defensive coordinator has been for this team, they have failed to rotate players in and out of the fold because the starting eleven are generally a heck of a lot better than anything that is waiting in the wings behind them. That being said, just about everything else in this game point towards it being a lower scoring affair.

2012 Sun Bowl
USC Trojans (7-5, 3-9 ATS) -7.5
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-7, 8-5 ATS) -2.5
Over/Under 64.5

QB Matt Barkley is out of the fold in this one, and that’s going to leave QB Max Wittek to make his second career start. At least this one will be easier than his first start, which came against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but that doesn’t mean that he is ready to really take advantage of all of the weapons that this offense has at its disposal. I’m shocked that the ‘total’ didn’t drop at all in this game, as Wittek clearly isn’t nearly as good as Barkley is, and this is going to likely decrease USC’s point production by a dead minimum of a touchdown in this game.

And then of course, there is the triple option offense. The Yellow Jackets are going to run the heck out of the football, and odds have it, it is going to become awfully frustrating for the Trojans. The clock could really just melt away in the second half of this game if G-Tech is ahead in this one, as I think there is a distinct possibility of happening. If the Jackets aren’t ahead, they probably are having one of these games where they are going to account for 250 yards or so for the game. Either way that I slice this one, it’s all coming up ‘under’ in a game that should absolutely be lined nowhere near the 60s in my eyes.

The 2012 college football season continues this week, and here at Cappers Info, we’ll be looking at some of the best games on the docket each and every week, as we try to make the most money possible off of the CFB odds for the week. Join us on Saturday, as we make our Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ USC Trojans free picks and predictions for what should be a great clash on the gridiron.

Week 13 College Football Picks: Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ USC Trojans
Date: Saturday, November 24th, 8:00 ET
Location: Los Angeles Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
CFB Betting Odds: Notre Dame -5
Notre Dame vs. USC Live TV: ABC

Many think that this is the end of the Fighting Irish. After all, if Kansas State can lose to Baylor, and Alabama can lose to Texas A&M, the mighty Men of Troy, who started the season ranked in the Top 5 in the nation, should be able to beat a Notre Dame team that always considered the least of the undefeated teams in America. However, we really don’t think that that’s going to be the case. USC has been the biggest underachieving team in the land all season long without any doubt whatsoever, and QB Max Vittek being in the fold instead of a man that was once a Heisman Trophy candidate in QB Matt Barkley isn’t going to make matters any better. This probably isn’t going to be the prettiest game in the world, as there are probably going to be plenty of punts, tons of turnovers, and very few points. It plays right into the hands of the Irish, who will likely find some way to win this game by at least a touchdown.

Notre Dame @ USC Pick: Notre Dame -5
Notre Dame @ USC Score Prediction: Notre Dame 19 – USC 9

The Trojans and the Fighting Illini are going to be playing again each other in the final game of the night at the Maui Invitational, and one of these two teams is going to end up having the donut taken out of their win column. The Illini have already played once out here in Hawaii, having beaten the Warriors in overtime just two days ago. USC has had a good campaign to start of the year as well, knocking off Long Beach State and Coppin State. However, this is a clear set up in competition for both of these teams. It feels like the Trojans are going to have the better opportunity for success, and it feels like they are still underrated after last season chock full of injuries. The defense for Illinois has really ramped it up as well, and we see no way that the Illini are going to get even 60 on the board in this one. If Illinois gets frustrated, the opening game for both of these teams in Maui should go to Southern Cal.

USC vs. Illinois Pick: USC Trojans -1
USC vs. Illinois Prediction: USC 63 – Illinois 58

Join us on Saturday, as we make our USC Trojans @ UCLA Bruins free picks and predictions for what should be a great clash on the gridiron.

Week 12 College Football Picks: USC Trojans @ UCLA Bruins
Date: Saturday, November 17th, 3:05 ET
Location: Rose Bowl Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
CFB Betting Odds: USC -4
USC vs. UCLA Live TV: FOX

The battle of Los Angeles this year is the de facto Pac-12 South Championship Game as well. This is as good of an opportunity as the Bruins have had to get the job done against the Trojans in quite some time, and if they can win this one, it could be a chance to firmly take control of LA football for the first time in a long time. The better of the two teams though, is clearly USC. The question is whether or not the team is going to want to play this one. Win this, and the Men of Troy are going to get two chances to end National Championship dreams in consecutive weeks against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Oregon Ducks. QB Matt Barkley absolutely shredded this defense last year when these two teams met in a 50-0 romp, and though these teams are closer now, the margin still exists for sure. UCLA might come close, but it isn’t winning this game.

USC @ UCLA Pick: USC -4
USC @ UCLA Score Prediction: USC 38 – UCLA 31

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Week 11 Saturday college football odds pits the USC Trojans against the Arizona State Sun Devils. These two are going to be meeting at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Los Angeles Coliseum, and I’m going to show you which side to make your CFB pick on for this great game.

Arizona State Sun Devils (5-4, 5-4 ATS) +9
USC Trojans (6-3, 2-7 ATS) -9
Over/Under 64

The Sun Devils have really been a tale of two teams this year. They have had moments where you wonder whether they are one of the best teams in America or not. They came out of the blocks at 4-1 this year and were ranked in the Top 25 for a brief period of time. Unfortunately for ASU though, the team has stumbled here in the Pac-12, losing three straight games both SU and ATS to superior competition. A defense which was once considered one of the best in the Pac-12 has allowed at least 36 points in three straight weeks.

That being said, USC isn’t exactly lighting it up right now. Sure, the team put 51 points on the board at home last week, but that was a matter of just trying to survive against the Oregon Ducks. There is a real chance that the season just collapses from here for USC, and I wouldn’t even be all that surprised to see them finish out the campaign at 6-7 if this one is lost, knowing that there is a bowl game and games against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and UCLA Bruins to go.

Arizona State not only won this game last year, but it won it by 21 points. It was the first win over USC in quite some time, and now, it is going to want to get that first victory here at the Coliseum in eons. Don’t be all that shocked if the Sun Devils pull the rabbit out of their hat in this one, as I just remain unimpressed with anything that the Trojans have done this year.

Arizona State @ USC Tips: Arizona State Sun Devils +9

Week 10 pointspreads are out, and here at Cappers Info, we are set to analyze the college football odds for one of the top games on the slate. The Oregon Ducks vs. USC Trojans odds are posted, and we are set to make our CFB picks for another great game.

Week 10 College Football Picks: Oregon Ducks @ USC Trojans
Date: Saturday, November 3rd, 7:00 ET
Location: Los Angeles Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
CFB Betting Odds: Oregon -7.5
Oregon vs. USC Live TV: FOX

Scholarship limitations might have finally caught up to the Trojans this year. They have a superiorly talented team, but they are in some trouble when it comes to depth as it turns out. Oregon feels like it can turn it on when it wants, though it has to avoid those long stretches in which it just doesn’t find its way into the end zone. You know that Head Coach Chip Kelly has been spending two weeks on this game plan, as it didn’t take all that much to beat up on the Colorado Buffaloes last week, a game in which the team essentially gave up halfway through the third quarter. Last year, the Men of Troy figured out how to pull off the upset, but we don’t think that that is going to be the case this year. There is a reason that the Ducks had dominated in this series over the course of the previous few years, and this is going to be the result again this time around. Don’t be all that shocked if this is an epically bad day for the Trojans.

Oregon @ USC Pick: Oregon -7.5
Oregon @ USC Score Prediction: Oregon 52 – USC 28

5Dimes SportsbookOne of my favorite plays on the Week 10 Saturday college football odds pits the USC Trojans against the Oregon Ducks. These two are going to be meeting at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Los Angeles Coliseum, and I’m going to show you which side to make your CFB pick on for this great game.

#2 Oregon Ducks (8-0, 5-3 ATS) -7.5
#17 USC Trojans (7-1, 3-5 ATS) +7.5
Over/Under 69.5

It really seems to be quite obvious that the Ducks and the Trojans are going to combine for a heck of a lot of points. Sure, we know that this is one of the highest ‘totals’ of the weekend, but in the end, there is just way, way too much offense here to avoid playing on the ‘over’.

What the Ducks can do has clearly been stated. In spite of the fact that they have two full halves of football this year where they didn’t score but a total of seven points, they are still averaging 53.4 points per game, which translates into roughly two touchdowns per every quarter that they play. Take out the second half against Arkansas State and the second half against Arizona State, and this team would be averaging 60.0 points per game this year. Of course, USC isn’t exactly slacking in this department either, knowing that QB Matt Barkley already has 25 TD passes, and WR Marqise Lee literally might shatter every single receiving record in the books after catching 16 passes for over 300 yards in last week’s loss to Arizona.

You all have read my stuff long enough to know that I hate picks like this one. Absolutely detest them. But in the end, these teams combined for 73 points in the freezing cold last year in Eugene, and they combined for 85 the last time that they played here at the LA Coliseum. It’s just too easy to not take the ‘over’ in this game, even if that total were set at 80. Fortunately for me, it is lower than that by 10 points.

The USC Trojans and the Arizona Wildcats are going to square off in Week 9 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Saturday.

Week 9 College Football Picks: USC Trojans @ Arizona Wildcats
Date: Saturday, October 27th, 3:30 ET
Location: Arizona Stadium, Tucson, AZ
CFB Betting Odds: USC -6.5
USC vs. Arizona Live TV: ABC/ESPN2

Is there a point this year that the Men of Troy are really going to wake up and remember that they are the USC Freaking Trojans? QB Matt Barkley should be able to run circles around this Arizona defense, which has been ridiculously shoddy for the mass majority of the season. Yes, Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is going to have some sort of a special scheme of an offense for this one, but in the end, talent should overtake a scheme every single day of the week. This is a relatively short point spread, yet the public is actually relatively level in terms of taking either side of this game. QB Matt Scott could struggle though, and if he isn’t going to put 30 points on the board – and we don’t think that he will – it is going to be difficult to see how the U of A defense is going to manage to keep the Trojans out of the end zone and off of the scoreboard. A string of seven straight covers for the underdogs in this series comes to an end on Saturday afternoon.

USC @ Arizona Pick: USC -6.5

The USC Trojans and the Washington Huskies are going to square off in Week 7 of the college football betting campaign. Join us here at Cappers Info, as we make our predictions for football for what should be a great game on Saturday.

Week 7 College Football Picks: USC Trojans @ Washington Huskies
Date: Saturday, October 13th, 7:00 ET
Location: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, WA
CFB Betting Odds: USC -12.5
USC vs. Washington Live TV: FOX

Good ol’ Head Coach Steve Sarkisian has really tormented his former team, as he already has two victories against the Men of Troy in his career. U-Dub is going to be rocking for sure when the Trojans come to town for this one on national television on Saturday night as well, as it is going to be a real showcase for the Huskies to put their defense on display. That defense was really overmatched for the mass majority of the game last week against the Oregon Ducks, but when you really look back at it, the defense made some stops and essentially gave up 42 points to the Oregon offense, which isn’t all that bad when you think about it, especially in Autzen Stadium. QB Keith Price just has to be better, though. He was picked off twice, didn’t throw a touchdown pass, and barely completed half of his passes. Washington hasn’t been good offensively, and it will need to get that going again versus a USC team that, when it wants to, has one of the best defenses in terms of talent in America. Here’s a nice trivia bit for you when you’re around the water cooler this week. Name the last quarterback who threw for at least 250 yards in a game against Washington. Not Matt Barkley. Not John David Booty. Not Mark Sanchez. It was Matt Leinart, and that was back in 2003. Washington can win this game and win it outright.

USC @ Washington Pick: Washington +12.5
USC @ Washington Score Prediction: Washington 21 – USC 20

Week 6 College Football Picks: USC Trojans @ Utah Utes
Date: Saturday, October 4th, 9:00 ET
Location: Rice Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT
CFB Betting Odds: USC -13.5
USC vs. Utah Live TV: ESPN

It’s going to be quite the interesting tussle here in the Pac-12, where the unranked Utes are going to hope to make a name for themselves against the ranked Trojans. Does this sound familiar? It’s the exact same thing that Stanford did to USC, that Washington did to Stanford, and that Oregon State did to UCLA ,and that’s just over the course of the last two weeks of play in this conference. The Trojans just feel like they have given up on the season, though nothing is clearly totally lost as of yet unless they choose to lose it. QB Matt Barkley is clearly more talented than QB Jon Hays, and the USC offense should just be rolling right over the Utah defense. However, we’re just not all that sure that that is going to be the case. This could be a game in which the Utes find a way to stick around when push comes to shove.

USC @ Utah Pick: Utah +13.5
USC @ Utah Score Prediction: USC 31 – Utah 20

College football betting fans are running to their online sportsbooks to place their California Golden Bears vs. USC bets and predictions, and here at Cappers Info, we are making our Saturday football picks for this encounter.

Week 4 College Football Picks: California Golden Bears @ USC Trojans
Date: Saturday, September 22nd, 6:00 ET
Location: Los Angeles Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
CFB Betting Odds: USC -15.5
California vs. USC Live TV: Pac-12 Network

The Trojans have won eight straight games in this series and have covered six of the last seven, but this is a scary spot for them to be in. USC is vulnerable now, and it is coming off of a poor offensive game against Stanford in which it just didn’t play well. The Men of Troy aren’t in good shape, and Cal needs a win in a big time way. Head Coach Jeff Tedford’s job might depend on it. We don’t think that the Trojans are going to end up losing the game, but this could be a lot closer than most probably think. This won’t be a case of USC coming out off of a loss ready to just pounce. The Golden Bears should be able to hang, just like they did last week in the Horseshoe against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

California @ USC Pick: California +15.5
California @ USC Score Prediction: USC 28 – Cal 27
