5Dimes NCAA TournamentThe Rebels are a nice story of a team that made it to the NCAA Tournament by winning their conference tournament and doing things the hard way. They went 26-8 this year and should theoretically be ready to make a run in the dance… right? Perhaps not so fast. There’s a reason that the Rebs are only a No. 12 seed and probably wouldn’t have made they tourney had they not beaten the Gators in the SEC Championship Game. That was literally the first marquee win that Ole Miss picked up this year. Prior to that, the team had been beaten by 14 by the aforementioned Gators in its only other RPI Top 20 game. Now, a battle-tested set of Badgers comes to the table in a game that shouldn’t really be all that close. The defense for Head Coach Bo Ryan has a history of smothering out foes, and we just don’t see how G Marshall Henderson and his 20.1 points per game is going to be able to torch this unit when most of the best players in the Big Ten haven’t been able to either. It’s just not a great matchup for the Rebs, who we think will go down without much of a fight to promptly end their season. Wisconsin has been to back to back Sweet 16s, and it will take one more step in that direction again on Friday.

Big Ten Tournament Final Picks: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
Date: Sunday, March 17th, 3:30 ET
Location: United Center, Chicago, IL
Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Live TV: CBS

BetGuardian

The final game of the regular season will take place at the United Center, where the Badgers and the Buckeyes are going to be involved in a tremendous game. Ohio State has allowed just over 54 points per game in its last seven games, all of which have been wins. Wisconsin is holding teams down to just 56.1 points per game on the season, including holding four straight to 60 points or fewer. The only difference between these two teams is that the Buckeyes have a couple tremendous players. Ohio State knows that F Deshaun Thomas is going to be good for at least 15-20 points in this one, and that’s something that the Badgers just don’t have. Wisconsin doesn’t have a player on its roster that averages more than 11.4 points per game this season. We also don’t trust the Badgers shooting free throws with a game on the line, as they are only knocking down 63.5 percent of their efforts from the charity stripe. Ohio State is just playing too well right now to be beaten, and it is going to be hungry to avenge a loss to the Badgers from a month ago, the last loss that the team has suffered.

Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes

The Badgers and the Hoosiers are going to duke it out on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Big Ten. These two teams fought to a very tough 64-59 game in Bloomington back in January. At the time, it was the win that really ensured that Wisky was going to be in the NCAA Tournament, as it was as big of a win as any team could have gotten. The Badgers are still one of the best defensive teams in the entire country. They did a great job holding down Indiana to just 37.0 percent shooting from the floor the first time around, and over the course of the last three games, Wisky has kept three teams to 60 points or fewer. If this is one of these games that comes down to the wire, there is no doubt that the Hoosiers are going to have to advantage, knowing that they can’t possibly play as bad of a game as they played the first time that these two teams met up with one another. Though we think that IU is going to win this one though, the end result is going to be a cover for the Badgers. We think that their defense will force the game right down to the wire, and if that happens, we’ll have the points on our side.

Wisconsin vs. Indiana Pick: Wisconsin Badgers +6.5

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Friday night. The Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan Wolverines will have it the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals Picks: Michigan Wolverines vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Date: Friday, March 15th, 2:30 ET
Location: United Center, Chicago, IL
Michigan vs. Wisconsin Live TV: ESPN

The Badgers and the Wolverines are both going to the NCAA Tournament, and the truth of the matter is that this game really doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot. Of course, the Wolverines still have a case to become a No. 1 seed in the dance, but it is going to take them winning the Big Ten Tournament to have a shot. We aren’t so sure about this Michigan outfit, though. The team has the guards that can take the big time shots with G Trey Burke and G Tim Hardaway Jr., but on the inside, there are some issues. F Glenn Robinson III continues to be a disappointment in the Big Ten season, and he is going to have to step it up in this game if the team is going to ultimately win this game. The Badgers are flat out awesome in the paint, and they can rebound the basketball well enough to take down Big Blue. On top of that, Michigan had to play yesterday, albeit against the lowly Penn State Nittany Lions, while Wisconsin was sitting on the sidelines, watching, and waiting. It seems a bit ridiculous that the Badgers are underdogs in this game.

Michigan vs. Wisconsin Pick: Wisconsin Badgers +3

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Thursday night. The Michigan State Spartans and Wisconsin Badgers will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

Free College Hoops Picks: Wisconsin Badgers @ Michigan State Spartans

Wisconsin vs. Michigan State Live TV: ESPN

The Spartans are falling apart in front of our very eyes. They have lost three games in a row, and though all of them have been winnable games, losses are losses, and when you’re chasing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, three losses in a span of two weeks going into the month of March really isn’t good. G Keith Appling is in bad shape, having scored an average of just 6.0 points per game in his last three outings, and he committed the turnover that cost the team the game against the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is coming off of a brutal loss to the Purdue Boilermakers that came out of absolutely nowhere. The Badgers had gone 6-1 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in their previous seven games, and their only loss was a very excusable one against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road. We’ll chalk that one up to a case of looking past a bad opponent and getting caught. If that’s the case, Michigan State is going to be in some trouble. We’ll give the Spartans the win, but we think that the Badgers will earn a tough cover.

Wisconsin vs. Michigan State Pick: Wisconsin Badgers +4

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Sunday night. The Wisconsin Badgers and Purdue Boilermakers will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

Free College Hoops Picks: Purdue Boilermakers @ Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers are a hot ATS team right now, having picked up six wins in seven games. They also have gone 4-0-1 ATS in their last five overall. However, we have a real issue thinking that they are going to beat such a big time number against the Boilermakers in spite of the fact that this is the home finale. There has to be a bit of a sense of looking ahead to the game against the Michigan State Spartans next week. Purdue has been a bad road team all season long, but this is a game in which the team could pick up a cover against a big time number. There really isn’t much justification for it, knowing that the team was beaten by 10 by the Iowa Hawkeyes, 28 by the Indiana Hoosiers, and 20 by the Illinois Fighting Illini. However, we think that this is the game that can get this Boilermakers at least somewhat back on track. Getting this many points is a heck of a bonus in a game between two teams that were only separated by five points the last time out.

Purdue vs. Wisconsin Pick: Purdue Boilermakers +14.5
Purdue vs. Wisconsin Prediction: Wisconsin 65 – Purdue 57

This is one of the more intriguing games that we see on the docket for the entire weekend, and it is one that we think really provides us with an opportunity. We know that Wisconsin is going to be favored at home, as is the case in just about every Big Ten game between all of these teams near the top of the conference. That being said, in a game that should struggle to get to even 120 points (and maybe even 110 points), all of those points are valuable. On top of that, we learned a great lesson the first time that the Bucks and the Badgers played against each other. Ohio State has F Deshaun Thomas. Wisconsin doesn’t have anyone that can keep up. Thomas scored 25 of the team’s 58 points on January 29th to lead OSU to victory, and he could do something similar on Sunday afternoon. No one for the Badgers scored more than 12 points, and what was worse was the fact that they didn’t get to the foul line a single time. Wisconsin has to be more aggressive and go to the hoop this time around, but we just don’t know if that’s going to be possible against a team that plays such stout man-to-man defense. Go with the Buckeyes on the road, as we think that they are going to pull off the upset.

Ohio State vs. Wisconsin Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes +4
Ohio State vs. Wisconsin Prediction: Ohio State 54 – Wisconsin 49

This is as bad of a spot as the Golden Gophers could have truly asked to be in. They have scored an average of just 56 points per game over the course of their last six, and the only reason that the number is that high is because they played against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at home in that mix as well. On top of that, they have scored 53 points or fewer four times in six games. Now, they’ve got the Badgers coming to town with their stout defense. Don’t let some of these point totals skew your opinions. They allowed plenty of points in overtime as well that are raising the defensive scoring average. That doesn’t take away anything that Head Coach Bo Ryan and the gang are doing in Madison. Our perception would be a little bit different had Wisconsin lost both of those overtime games last week as opposed to winning them, but that’s where we are at. The Badgers are legitimate. Minnesota is a team that we are asking plenty of questions about at the moment. The choice in this one is relatively simple.

The Badgers and the Wolverines are both in the midst of terribly tough stretches of schedule, and neither really has passed their tests with flying colors at this point. Oh sure, both survived overtime battles at home on Wednesday night, but the wins over the Iowa Hawkeyes and Ohio State Buckeyes respectively should have come much easier than they did. Of course, Michigan still has that loss on the road at the Indiana Hoosiers in the back of its head as well. Remember that Wisconsin did, after all, win in Bloomington a few weeks ago in shocking fashion. The key to this game is going to be pace. If these young guards for the Wolverines can’t handle the pressure of playing on the road against a defensive minded team that gets its crowd into the game like none other in the conference, it’s going to be a long day for the Big Blue Nation. Madison is just hell to play in, and so many have found that out over the course of the last several years. Don’t be shocked if the Badgers end up busting up Michigan for the win that could ultimately ensure that the team is dancing come March.

Michigan vs. Wisconsin Pick: Wisconsin Badgers -1.5

The time is here for more of our sparkling CBB picks, as we look at the schedule for basketball for Tuesday night. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Wisconsin Badgers will have it in a nationally televised game, which can be seen on the college basketball TV schedule on ESPN.

If you you’re your defense, this is going to be the game for you. The way that the Buckeyes and the Badgers play, there is a legitimate chance that neither of these teams are going to get into the 50s in this one, just as was the case for the Badgers’ game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers over the weekend. Here’s the difference: Ohio State has a man that can take over the game. Wisconsin just doesn’t. The Badgers are a very suspect 1-4 ATS on the road this year, and that one cover was a shocking one against the Indiana Hoosiers at Assembly Hall. Aside from that though, matters haven’t been good, as the team has been uncomfortable and largely outclassed by Big Ten foes that probably aren’t as strong as it is. F Deshaun Thomas is the man that can take over games. He averages 20.0 points and 6.5 boards per game. The numbers have slipped a bit over the course of these last couple games, but in the Big Ten where defense is king, you can’t expect to put up 20+ every single night. Thomas’ outside game is really improving as well, as he already has as many three point field goals made this year (50) as he did all of last season. This is a game where the Bucks are going to methodically take apart the Badgers, and the final margin will be indicative of the dominance we expect to see.

Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes -6.5
Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Prediction: Ohio State 67 – Wisconsin 48

Smell that? Kinda smells fishy, no? The Badgers are a 13-5 team that has been as bipolar as all get out over the course of the first few weeks of Big Ten play. They were knocked off by the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road, but that came just a few days after going on the road and beating the Indiana Hoosiers. The club clearly isn’t all that talented offensive, and it needs to get a spark from somewhere when the defense isn’t on top of its game. Now, a Michigan State team comes to town that is insanely tough to blow out. The squad is a veteran outfit that has gone on the road and won and competed in games against the best that the Big Ten has to offer. Now, to make matters even fishier, Michigan State is getting over 65% of the betting action on its side, yet the line is only creeping up or staying static (depending upon the sportsbook). It almost seems like the books are trying to bait us into taking the Spartans. Instead, we’re going to go against the grain and stick with our gut with the Badgers, as our gut is telling us that this is a game that looks too good to be true.

Michigan State vs. Wisconsin Pick: Wisconsin Badgers -5.5

There is going to be a great clash of styles on display here at Assembly Hall on Tuesday night in what should be a remarkable game between two very good team. The Badgers don’t quite have an NCAA Tournament resume yet, and though we don’t have any doubt that they will finish filling that resume out at some point, this would be a huge step in the right direction. They’re going to use their defense to try to slow down the Hoosiers, and it’s tough to argue with their success thus far in conference play. Wisconsin is allowing just 54.7 points per game, and no one in conference yet has figured out how to score more than 51 against this defense. Of course, this is a significantly different challenge against an Indiana team that is outscoring its foes by well over 20 points per game this year. The Hoosiers run up and down the floor, and they have seven players that could go off for double digits in scoring at any given moment. Indiana is 19-7 ATS in its last 26 games played here at Assembly Hall, and there is little reason to think that that will change on Tuesday. The Hoosiers could run the Badgers right out of the gym.

Wisconsin vs. Indiana Pick: Indiana Hoosiers -10.5
Wisconsin vs. Indiana Prediction: Indiana 72 – Wisconsin 59
