Off the top of my head:
USC is probably going to the Rose Bowl even if they suffer a close loss against UCLA. Penn State is far enough ahead of LSU to keep the Tigers out of the BCS Picture. If USC were to stumble against UCLA, the Trojans only loss would be to a 1 loss team. Penn State's only loss came to a 4 loss Michigan team. Remember, we are talking the Rose Bowl here, and the BCS could ill afford to get the Rose Bowl and the Pac 10 ticked off at them again.
The same can not be said of Texas. A loss to Colorado, whom they have already beaten big time and who had to back into the Championship Game, would prove very costly to the Horns. There would be enormous preasure to have a good old fashioned Big 10-Pac 10 showdown in the Rose Bowl for all the marbles, especially with JoePa being involved.
The BCS is pulling heavily for USC on Saturday. If UCLA pulls the upset, then you have 3 Pac 10 teams at 9-1. How can you keep two of them out of the BCS? Either way, it looks like Oregon is odd man out in this senario. While the Ducks are deserving of the Fiesta Bowl bid, Notre Dame wants no part of another Pac 10 team this year, and the BCS will go for the more glamorous Ohio State-Irish match up. If UCLA beats USC, and the Trojans are still picked for Pasadena, the BCS would have big time trouble explaining how they opted for Ohio State over TWO 1 loss Pac 10 teams.
Don't sell West Virginia short. The Mountaineers have only 1 loss going into Saturday's season finale. If the Sugar Bwol line favors the SEC rep by more than 7 points, take a close look at the game.
