I am not a big day trader. I tried it once and made money wth a friend who is more familiar. But, it's way to risky for me and involves too much work that doesn't reduce any risk. But, for people that do, it sure is good discussion for this board. Just do it in the "Everythng Else" forum.
I am going to move this thread to the Everything else forum as well.

I haven't gotten into it yet, been watching stocks for a couple years trying to figure things out. Here's a few that I like.
APC, it's grown quite a bit since I started watching over a year ago.
CAT, this stock will split in the near future, they usually split around $90 a share
V, still think it's going to get up in the $130 range in the next year or so
That's about it without going through my spreadsheet.

CAT- (I assume thats Caterpillar-thats how lazy I am right now...Im not even gonna bother to look it up )...has been pumped by CNBC quite a bit within the last few years. Theyre a good co, and do things right.
Visa is an IPO, that is up like 70% since they went public a few months ago. That would have been a nice one, but I dont know how much more room they have to grow. I went a similar route with a hot IPO in IPI. (they do potash...huge demand) That stock is treating me well so far.
-on a side note, a few days ago, I jumped in on a solar stock SOLF at 15.72 and made a quick buck selling at 17.40. Its up to 23$ today! Should have held.

I have been watching the market a bit and I used to have a portfolio. I plan to get back into it. Now is a good time too in my opinion to get in. Some popular stocks that I think are good picks for long term growth right now are...
1) I have made a lot of money from Valero in the past and they will continue to grow and expand. This company will be the biggest in the energy industry one day. Cameco is another one if you like the energy industry and want to profit from those expensive gas prices. 2) I think Microsoft is lurking in the Apple shadows right now and the next great tech fad is going to come from them. 3) Sisco System is another one that I think will make a big move soon.
Happy Trading...
Louie
