Solid capping angles and still ending up on the wrong side of a lot of close ones.
It'll all turn around soon, starting with this one...
NHL) Phoenix@Florida
2* Phoenix -110
The Yotes have a good shot at opening the season 3-0 when they make the rare visit to Florida to take on the Cats. Yes, it's early, but Phoenix netminder Sean Burke has the best numbers in the NHL right now. He's fresh off his 34th career shutout, stopping the Federov and the Ducks in Anaheim, and has a 0.48 GAA and .982 SP in two starts. Phoenix is 8-1 ATS when coming off a shutoff win. Burke was solid on the road last season going 4-2-2 with a 1.92 GAA. Florida will get Roberto Luongo in net. With Florida's poor D, Luongo has seen 100 shots in 3 games this season. Although his 1.26 GAA and .960 SP look impressive on the surface, he has faced weak competition with Carolina twice, and struggling Boston on a no-rest road trip. Luongo is 0-2-0 lifetime against Phoenix, with a 2.85 GAA and .889 SP. Don't look for Florida to give him much support either, especially against Burke. The Cats scored a league-low 78 goals at home last season, and their 8-26-7 home record was the NHL's worst by far. Luongo had a 2.91 GAA at home last year. He and Burke have met twice before, with Burke winning both battles. Burke and the Coyotes got the 3-1 win in Florida last year, and I predict the same result here.
