2011 NFL Week 4 Diehard's Point of View Thread
I figured this would make a great idea for an NFL football handicapping discussion thread each week. Next week, I will get this posted early so we can keep the discussion going throughout the week.
Nobody knows a team better then that team's diehard fans. In my opinion, nothing can be more helpful then an unbiased point of view on a game that comes from a diehard fan of one of the teams. Why not share opinions on their teams matchup each week.
Reply to this thread with an opinion/point of view in the NFL matchup that your team is playing in. Discuss your team's matchup and whether you like or dislike them against the spread this week.
Be practical and take the emotion out of your opinion (at least try your best to do so). This is not the thread for ranting about how your team doesn't get enough respect. If you think you team might be giving too many points (or not getting enough points) and don't they're a good bet this week, this is the thread to point it out and help the other members. Share your unbiased thoughts on your teams matchup this week and help the Cappersinfo.com forum members to more profits.

I'll go first....
49ers +9 @ Philadelphia
Im not in love with my Niners +9 this week on the road in Philly. The NFL can say what thy want, but Vick's whining about the refs (who he says aren't treating him like all the other QBs) and the fact that he is playing hurt, like or not, is only going to make the refs watch the hits on Vick more closely. The Eagles also always see to get the calls at home. So, I can guarantee there will be a minimum of one or two personal foul calls for hitting (or should I say "breathing on") Mike Vick this week.
I love the 49ers run defense and I think they can contain McCoy in the run game. It's the Eagles passing game and McCoy out of the backfield that worries me this week. The secondary looked pretty good against Cincy, but they were giving rookie QB Andy Dalton a lot of different looks.
Altough it's not as bad as it appears, I don't like the 49ers passing offense lately and it's been rather unprductive. The Niners should have had two passing TDs in the Bengals game (a Crabtree was taken off the board on a horribl illegal touch call where the ref wasn't even looking at the play). ONLY when both; Alex Smith is making plays with his feet, AND the Niners running game is working (where they are able to freeze the linebackers) is when the 49ers passing game is productive.
The niners running game might actually hit a new gear this week as they have been using Kendall Hunter a lot more as change of pace from Frank Gore. The Eagles have been just awful at stopping the run.
If the niners can run the ball, get Vernon Davis involved this week, and sustain some drives they will cover. Not really liking them in this spot tho. The niners are 3-0 ATS this year, but this is kind of a must win for the Eagles. Not saying, I don't think they can win this game and not saying I don't think they CAN cover. But, we really don't know how much pain Vick is really in. I would probably take take the 49ers small if the line goes over 10 points as I think they can keep it within two touchdowns. I would take the Eagles if the line were a touchdown or less and I knew how much pain Vick was actually in.
We also will probably see some rain in this one as it continues to run across pennsylvania.
Hope this helps...

Guys I'm thinking about making a play against my Detroit Lions this week. It's the second road game in a row, maybe they are looking ahead to being on Monday Night Football next week, they will be missing Justin Durant at OLB. My biggest concerns are 1) the Dallas pass rush getting to Matt Stafford early and often like it did last week with Jared Allen and 2) the Lions lack of a run game against a defense that is #5 in football in total defense. I know that Dallas has some injuries, but their big play guys (Romo, Bryant and Jones) should all play.
All that being said, I think this could be a tough spot for the Lions.

Great call on the Lions.
I do think that my Texans are taking down the Steelers, but I don't think I could reasonably lay four points in this one. Reliant Stadium is going to be as insane as it has ever been, but the problem is that probably 20% of the fans are going to be in black and gold.
Don't care that Arian Foster is back. He's not the better of the two backs in that offense.
I just don't know about the Pittsburgh offense. Houston's defense has been respectable this year, and there's no way that the Steelers have the same type of offense that the Saints do.
I'd consider the 'under' before I considered anything else.
I'm looking at going against the bills this week, it's been a great 3 weeks , however they cannot come back every week from 10 or more points, I think this will be the let down game from the big patriots win. Home team wins this at the end. Cincy gets a turnover near the end to win this.

First off I'll say that my g-men have a west coast win in them but this game makes me a bit nervous. The Giants secondary is flat out awful. . This was a bit masked last with their three ints of Vick. Fitzgerald could have a monster game on sunday. Getting Osi back should help get pressure on kolb and the arz passing attack but only if he is actually healthy. I think Jacobs and Bradshaw should be able to pound it down the throat of the arz front and if Eli can maintain his composure and not turn the ball over the Giants have a good shot. All that being said, coming off an emotional win at Philly, making the cross country trek to arz and nursing a make shift secondary should lend to caution at what looks like Joe publics comfortable -1 line.
That my 2-cents. BOL gents

Bears should cover. If I had to make a play on this game, it'd be the over.

Atlanta at Seattle. Its Falcons -4 and a half. I'm going with Atlanta all the way on this one. They need a big win or there season could be over before it starts. Look for them to run first and pass second.

My team is the 49ers Obv. I tend not to bet them on the road. I like betting them when they are home dogs. This week As I am writting this the 49ers are getting 11 from the Eagles. I like the Niners this week not crazy about them but I think the Niners should be able to put some pressure on Vick and cause some turnovers (hopefully no late hit penaltys) here is my prediction
Eagles 23 Niners 14
Nice to see gore do something finally, of course I've got him on the bench this week uggggg!!!
