Match Play
After a profitable week at Riviera (+2.35 units, 3-1-2), we move to The Gallery in Tucson for the match play event. This is one of the crown jewels as far as golf wagering goes, so look for my picks on Tuesday!

After a 3-1-2 posted record last week, our YTD record is now 4-3-3, here are the 1st round WGC Match Play picks:
MA Jimenez (+128) Over Luke Donald The Mechanic can flat out get it in hole. Donald has been struggling as of late and this format will only expose his weaknesses. Take the underdog in this match. Jose Maria Olazabal (-140) Over Paul Goydos JMO's game has been improving every week over the last few events and we look for that to continue here. Olazabal is a Ryder Cup veteran and extremely experienced in match play. Goydos' win in Hawaii was impressive but he has not played well since. JMO rolls. Adam Scott (-198) Over Shaun Micheel Scott has all the tools and this long and demanding golf course is just the canvas for him to put them on display. Although Adam struggled in LA we fully expect him to rebound with a run deep into the weekend. Robert Karlsson (-114) Over Steven Ames Karlsson flies under the radar, he is a great player and someone to watch for this week. Ames has had mixed results early this year and he does not have positive vibes in this event (see: Tiger Woods). Take Karlsson at a great value. Bart Bryant (-105) over Ian Poulter Bryant has had a great start to his year and he can string together a ton of birdies. Poulter has looked like a lost puppy on the range the past two weeks, and he showed a lot of give up last week. Look for a Bryant rout in this one. |

Rough opening round, but we are going to bounce back with these plays.
Dredge +126 over Poulter Dredge pulled off a huge upset over Els and is poised to make a run in this event. Poulter played nicely today but we do not expect that to continue. Sabbatini +106 over O'Hern Sabo had a very solid win wednesday, and he is built for this event. O'Hern has a lot of game, but we think that this could be the week that Rory shows the Wildcat fans in Tucson what he is made of. Casey -129 over Montgomerie Casey won the World Match Play late last year and has the game to dominate on the world stage. Monty will not miss a fairway and that can be dangerous, but we look for Casey to overpower him in this match. Singh -162 over Ames Vijay got past a very hot John Rollins and appears to be clicking on all cylinders. Ames played great golf in the first round and is ripe for a let down. Also look at the following players to take the title down in Mexico. Pat Perez 29 to 1 Graeme McDowell 51 to 1 |
