I know everyone has a story, a bad beat, a great victory, or somewhere in between. This story even teaches a lesson...

My Favorite Poker Story

I was at Casino Windsor playing poker about six months ago, checking out their newly renovated poker room, playing in a 300 max game with a bad beat jackpot. My table was essentially a sample of all the different poker personalities. There was an old, wealthy Indian lady who never spoke and played each hand like she was in the World Series, a guy who was totally wasted, loud and obnoxious, and overplayed each pair of cards he was dealt, and everything in between. After about two hours at the table the two players above were in a pot betting and raising one another through out. The old lady slowly studying each move, making sure she was making the right play, and the obnoxious drunk yelling and screaming. By the time the river was dealt the drunk guy was all in for about $250 and the elderly lady was contemplating a call. The board read 8,4,10,10, 8 and the old lady was really stumped by what could be going on. After about 10 minutes of contemplation the drunk is getting aggravated. He starts yelling obscenities and belittling the lady for taking so long to make a play. Finally he says, "Listen lady, I have pocket 8's, lay it down." A few more minutes of careful consideration and the lady says her first words in hours, "This sir, is what you get for being an asshole." Turns over pocket 10s and throws them into the muck. The drunk guy can't believe it. He was totally honest about his hand, as he turned it over too right before going into full temper tantrum. He throws his chips across the casino, starts yelling and screaming and marching around the casino as if he had lost the hand. You see, the bad beat jackpot was over $60,000 and if she would have called, he would have been the loser and taken home half of it. The lady, being elderly and rich, didn't care about the large sum of money and decided it was more important to teach this obnoxious young man a lesson.
