Tennis betting Q's
Hello guys, trying to start up here betting but you know how that goes. I'm starting small but confused a bit. Could anyone tell me how this asian handicapping works below? Not sure how to read this.
Asian Handicap Tennis
1. Haas vs IIhan
Haas +1.5 sets
2 Fish vs Mello
Fish -5.5 games

In tennis you usually need 3 or 5 sets to win the match, so Haas is a heavy favorite as 1.5 sets is a lot.
To win sets you play games, so Fish is a favorite also but a smaller one as 5.5 games is less than 1.5 sets. The games are "first to four, win by two". To win a set it's "First to 6 games, win by 2"
points < games < sets < matches
... basically.
With that being said, I've never bet on a tennis match in my life and have never even heard of any of those guys, so good luck.

If Haas and Ilhan are males, you need Ilhan to win the match in either 3 sets or 4 sets to win for you. Any other result is a victory for Haas. If they're females, you need Ilhan to win the match in 2 sets. Any other result would give the victory to Haas.
In the second case, Fish vs. Mello... Fish is favored by 5.5 games. I personally hate these bets, but I know that others love them. If your player wins the match 6-4, 7-6, 6-4, he's going to lose if you bet him -5.5 games in spite of the fact that he dominated the match... Or he could actually LOSE the match something like 1-6, 7-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 and still cover the number... You just add up the total number of games won by Fish, and if it's at least six more than the total number that Mello wins for the match, you win.

The WTA always play best of 3 sets and in every non major event the ATP also play best of 3 sets (there are 4 majors per year: Aussie Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. In these 4 major events, the WTA still play best of 3 as I stated but the ATP play best of 5 sets in these 4 majors.
Your set betting and handicap questions have already been answered above. There is also the option of the over/under, just total number of games played.
A good tip I always give newbie tennis bettors is to check each book's rules you play at for tennis, some grade after 1 complete set while others require the match to go the distance.

Thanks guys, I learned something here.

From a betting standpoint, its probably the best low risk/high reward betting option out there and as just a fan, I really enjoy watching and following the sport now and this coming from a guy who played hockey all his life and just watched the mainstream American sports. Good luck with your plays if you decide to dabble in the French Open this week.
