Suggestions/Updates

Few things I would like to address in this post. Here it is....

First, I want to state that I am currently looking for new idea's on features that you guys would like to see. Please use this thread if you have any ideas that you have interest in. I will seriously consider any ideas that you guys may have. I am adding new features and am going to try to add many as I can think of.

Second, I also want to mention some of the changes and features that have been added:

New forum version - As you all know, we updated to the latest version of VB. Lots of new features on here.
a. Calendar - I am working on the public calendar to add important dates as well as working on private calendars for each member that only they can see, use, and customize,
b. Reputation ratings - there is a thread all about how the reputations rating work here; http://www.cappersinfo.com/forums/sh...ad.php?p=74173
c. Optimization of the site for faster loading and more reliability. It also makes it much easier to keep away spammers and idiots.
d. Much smoother HTML and post editor where you can customize your fonts, colors, smiles, etc. I am also going to add more smiles (for you grandy).

Third and Finally, I want to mention some of the new features that I am planning on adding. I would like all of your opinions on these features.

1. Chat room - I am going to add a chatroom for the board. This chatroom will be open 24/7 but will more then likely not be active all the time. But, the chatroom will include a weekly or monthly schedule that will include all the dates and times that the board will be for discussions. The chat room meeting dates will also be displayed on the Cappersinfo.com forums public calendar as well. We will have a thread where votes will be taken on what dates will be our meeting dates. More to come there.

2. MP3 Player - At the top of the boards, right next to the links; "UserCP - FAQ - Members List - ETC" there will be a link for a popup mp3 player. This can be viewed and accessed as long as you are an active member of the boards. I am not planning on putting music on the mp3 player as of now, but we will discuss this further (would like your input). I only have no much space to put a lot of mp3s. I was planning on adding some daily ESPN radio shows each day in mp3 from Mike&Mike to Colin Cowherd to Dan Patrick. I was also planning on adding some other sports sound byes from Susan Waldman's ridiculous Clemens announcement to classic clips like "I can't believe what I just saw". You guys would be able to send me some mp3s that you'd like added to the Cappersinfo.com mp3 player and I would add them if they were appropriate. I was also planning on allowing some members who have a certain number of posts to upload mp3s to the player. We can discuss who will be allowed and what we be allowed on the player. But, it will be added.

3. VBSEO for optimizing our forums try and get some Google traffic. Right now we get no Google traffic and it's a crying shame. Google doesn't seem to think that our site is worth of being on their search results no matter how original and quality the handicapping is here. But this may be a good thing as it keeps the idiots, spammers, scammers, nitwits, & douchebag (sound like George Carlin) off this forums because they are too dumb to find it. The VBSEO adding should improve this and increase our traffic and maybe we could find some new handicappers. But, this might also make life more difficult for us all. But first we will see what it does. But, I would like all your support with Google. Perhaps you all can suggest our site; http://www.cappersinfo.com and let them know that you want to see this site on the index. Perhaps we can find at least a few more solid handicappers that have that 55-60% consistency for football this season.

I have some other ideas in mind and are discussing them with the outsource script guy that I hired to work with me on these boards. I need all you support on these new changes. I need all of your inputs along with any ideas you guys may have here. Please use this thread for discussion of any ideas and/or thoughts/options.

Keep the comments and the suggestions coming. I plan to pump this forum full of features for you all to enjoy. I have a lot more ideas...

you know Louie, the only thing I can really think of, youve already thought about doing. A chatroom going on live during the Saturday and Sunday morning pregame shows during football season. That would be a lot of fun.

Im not sure how hard it would be to do, or how much it would cost, so no idea if its worth it. We tend to get more active during football season, so I think it would at least be useful, and interesting. Ill participate during college gameday for sure.

Maybe some sort of monthly contests or something like that??? That might draw some people in to take part if they knew they could win something.

Love the contests...of course football season has the best ones. The MNF and the one where you pick a different team each week and add the up the points at the end (I forget the name of it). The fantasy football league two years ago was cool too. I really like the contests and I think they could bring in more cappers. Even if there are no serious prizes offered, part of the fun of gambling is the competition aspect and the thrill of winning. I think the season long contests are the best (better than pick the score) and add an element to the board....I don't know football seems to be solid in this area, but shouldn't the board have an annual college football bowl contest, perhaps a sunday night baseball or playoff contest, maybe a contest for the major golf tournamnets, the NCAA tourney, fantasy baseball, maybe various futures contests (plus records of the past winners)....i am just guessing that people would check in to see how they are doing in the contests, so then maybe they post their picks, click the sponsors, bring others in, etc....i know even when I am not playing (like right now) I check the board for updates and just to see how others are doing, i don't see why others wouldn't if they were involved in a contest especially. Again, i don't think a major prize is even necessary although it would be nice ...the powerpoints contest (i just remembered the name) is awesome....if i remember correctly, we had at least 15 players last time. i think if we had more for contests for different sports and made them an annual thing, this could help bring in people who could become regulars....anyhow, just my .02.....
