If They Legalize Gamblin I,m Done

This is just my view and I,m sure many others have a differing viewpoint. Over the past few years I have heard nothing from my friends and Co-horts but how great it would be if they legalized Sports betting, poker, etc. I have long had a different viewpoint but have held my tongue.
After yesterday I feel I have to speak up. With our current economy and Chairman Mao Bama looking for new ways to generate capital for his Socialist agenda I feel it,s only a matter of time until he agrees to the legalization of gambling with a tax placed upon it.One only has to look at the horse racing industry to see the results that such a measure will have.
I went to the local harness track yesterday. This is something I do several times a year. It,s just a day of enjoyment foe me and i have no great anticipation of making any money for my endeavors. In fact I lost $66 dollars for the day. Which to me is no big deal one way or the other. What I did see is a large group of patrons playing the slots in our new Racinos who obviously could,nt afford to be gambling. From their appearance and behavior they appeared to come from the lower financial strata of our society. The money they were gambling appeared to be sustenance money provided for them and their children by one of our government aid programs. They were being trucked in by the busload.
The races themselves,to any gambler who recgnizes the odds, were a joke. First the track and horseman take approximately 20% of every gambling dollar. Then the federal, state and local entitys take their cut. If you are playing Simulcast which is also available you pay an additional fee to the track who is providing it.If you are lucky enough to hit something that pays over 300-1 you recieve a w2-G form that you must include on your income tax when you report it in April. The bottom line is that any hopes of profiting from this type of gambling is non existent. I,m sure any legalization of gambling by government will become a carbon copy of this syatem.
To put it mildly don,t ask for something because you might recieve it. You can count me as one of the opponents of legalized gambling. If I can,t find a way arround it I don,t want any part of it.

you're not far off on what might happen stud. they have incorporated sports betting in our lottery up here in canada and its a farce. you have to bet a min 2 games ats to receive 2-1 odds and they hold the rights to remove games and post them at 1-1 odds if anything significant happens up to game time which effects the possible outcome. even though you've placed the bet before said happening. the rules are changed constantly to their favor. so putting it mildly the canadian gov't says its alright to gamble as long as the odds are so in thier favor it generates income for them! overseas is the way to be.!!

I disagree Stud. I hope they legalize sportsbetting. I think it would be great to be able to go to the nearest casino and place your wagers for the week without having to deal with all of the online stuff now. There are so many online "gambling" sites that have no intentions of ever paying you out when you go to withdraw, that you really have to be diligent with who you choose to deal with. Sportsbetting in a casino would negate all of that, and the scam sites would have to think of another way to cheat people.

As far as the tax, yeah that might suck, but having sportsbetting would attract more open wallets. Consumer spending. Maybe the casinos would agree to lower juice on losing wagers to help cancel out the taxes on winners?

But I dont think comparing sportsbetting to horseracing is fair. When you bet on sports you pay a price for a wager, and you know what you will be paid if it wins. 110 to 100. Same way with teasers and parlays. You never know with horse racing. You place your bet, the odds move, and continue to move until after the race is even over, and if youre lucky enough to win, you wait for the Big Board to tell you what you get. Theres no telling how crooked things are. Your winning trifecta is worth what the casino feels like paying out!

I also dont think the casino addicts will go...brok-er because theres sportsbetting. If someone is intent on spending their monthly funds at a casino, they'll just have to decide to allocate it between their usual games and sportsbetting. Besides...looks can be deceiving. While I have no doubt that a lot of the people in a casino (searching for fives while the rest of the table waits) have no business being there, I know a few rich people who dress and look poor and gamble and treat their money conservatively. Maybe a lot of people do, but it can be tough to tell the "haves" from the "have nots". Personally, while Im not rich, Ill make a point to dress like shit, dont shave ect. when visiting a casino, because I dont want to draw any unnecessary attention to myself...

I'm going to agree with Stud on this. Once the gov't gets it hands in anything, it goes down hill.

I also sort of agree here. I don't dress down, but don't dress up, however and I'm not sure where your from, but around here you can tell the "haves from the have nots" When I go Baltimore to the track you can't go far without being asked for a dollar. Leave your forum alone for 3 mins to place a bet and its gone! They'll take your pen dead tickets anything else. Now when I go to Charlestown WV (about 23 mins in the other direction) you can tell the difference there too. However, they at least have areas that I can leave my papers on the table for a few mins and come back to them.

Come to Preakness one year (we went all the time when I was younger) the homeless and bum would charge $5 to put your beer in their shopping carts and wheel it to the door for you, was well worth it. One year we had them wheel my buddy back to the car because he was too drunk to walk.. lol..

Now I am a member of two private clubs with books and card games, you would never see the trash in either of these clubs I run into at the track, or around the slots.

I go to AC once or twice a year, the whole town is trash. Even the beach is nasty. Vegas, well that has everything from high end to low, but the high end seems to be tourest, and the regs... well thats the locals and low end.

I can write all night, now if only I used grammar, no run-on sentences, and broke thoughts correctly, I could be a blogger.. lol

Yeah it actually kinda sucks beak.

Having to fill out a 1099 for betting sports would suck, but if you lose money every year you can at least claim the loss right? They won't legalize it nationwide, it would come from the state level of government and not DC. Individual states that don't have a vested interest in "major" professional sports teams and governments that are more liberal than conservative would be first in line one would have to assume.

And who is this grandmaster fella claiming he doesn't shave? Newbie, go buy a Mach3 and make sure not go against the grain.

Have a good trip, eh. Two tips. One- dont go 50km over the speed limit, they will impound your car, take your license and you will have some big fines to deal with. 2- dont drink and drive, as of last May a warning not a fail is now a 3 day suspension. It is weird because one of my buddies was at a stag party on a saturday a few weeks back and got the new 3 day suspension and then on the following monday one of my other friends was doing 115km in a 50 km zone, tow truck came and took it away, he has since got his car back but still has to go to court for the fines

Any change to allow sports betting would have to come through DC. There are currently only 4 states that can opt to allow it,Nevada, delaware,Montana and I,m not sure of the other one. They were grandfathered in. Other than that it is illegal nationally. If it is allowed nationwide I,m sure thefeds will find a way to get their cut.

Canada was great! But I was too drunk the whole time to remember the sportsbook. didnt drive thanks JT. We ended up going to this strip club (Ive heard number 2 in north america) where the girls were goin down on each other! Maybe if Ida shaved and threw on some cologne, I could have picked one up, but that look would have thrown off my blackjack
