Anyone Get A Threatening Email?

Hey Everyone,

This is kind of rediculous, but I thought I would bring it up. The reason being that I wouldn't mind finding out which forum/webmaster did this.

If any of you guys were wondering where Oakas has been and have been missin his plays, this is why he hasn't been around the past two weeks or so.

Apparently Oakas got a strange email the other day. In this email, the sender told Oakas that if he continues to post on the Cappersinfo forum that he will send Oakas a virus and destroy his computer. this person sent the email to Oakas from a free email account and deleted the email account after sending the message.

Since Oakas had the same username at a few other forums before he joined our forum, and his email address is not available to regular readers and forum member, this was clearly some other jealous forum owner attempting to stop him from posting here. Looks like this was some loser forum owner's attempt at getting Oakas to post at his forum again and prevent him from posting at the Cappersinfo.com forum that Oak loves.

I am posting this to ask if any other member's received an email like this. If you did, please PM me or reply to this post and let me know the other forums that you may have posted at in the past. This may help us narrow down and catch the webmaster who is threatening and intimidating our members. This makes me sick.

I know this is very stupid and probably not worth the time. The main reason I would like to catch this idiot is to reassure Oakas that he doesn't have anything to worry about. Nobody has ever gotten a virus by email simply for posting at a forum.

I also wanted to let the other member's know about this as this is a big reason why Oakas hasn't been posting here. Apparently, this email scared him.

I dont post anywhere else, where else would you like to be really. I visit covers about 4 times a year usually because I am bored or need a laugh. Oakas should not feel afraid to post at this site, just do not open any unknown or weird emails, If it comes down to it can he just sign back up here under a different username?? Do the emails come on this site or to his actual email account? I just went through my spam emails and found nothing. Oakas come back, dont let them run you out, just scare tactics.

Covers is good for a laugh and not really much more anyways justin. Louie is usually very good about weeding out the assholes, sadly you have to be careful opening ANYTHING. Make sure you're computers have all the latest security updates, don't open attachments from anyone, etc, etc.

btw I have never received such an email.

Yea, I don't think it was the owners of SBR and theRX as they have better things to do. I think I know who it is. I have been harassed via IM from the owner of another forum that I know Oak posts as occasionally and plays in their contests. I am pretty sure that he is the one who did it. I wouldn't put it past him. I just don't want to post the name of the site publicly in case I am wrong. But, i am 95% sure it's him.

Yea, nothing I can do about some guy creating free yahoo email accounts and emailing his own forum members and threatening them. That just shows you how much other webmasters really care about their visitors. Maybe he was pissed that Oakas was posting here instead of just playing in the contests (which he probably does at this guy's forums). But either way, that's extremely low.

Yea, I know he shouldn't feel afraid, but I can understand why something like that may freak him out. Yea, a virus can't get into your computer unless you download an exe (executable file) via attachment and actually run the file. It's very hard to infect someones computer unless you are really creative and can trick the person downloading a file that they normally wouldn't download and then trick them into opening it. Yea, he could change his username here if he wants and I can carry his posts over to the new name. But, I hate to see him do something like that because then it seems like that idiot is winning. Also, everyone here knows him as OAKAS. Either way, we can figure it out if he's still worried about it and wants to continue to post here under a new name or the same name.

If you don't post at any other forums, you definitely won't receive anything like this...because other site owners won't have your email address. Only I can access the forum member's actual email address and I would never give this information out to anyone for any reason whatsoever.

Well fellas, everything Louie has said is true. I did get a threatening email stating not to post here at Louie's place. As I have stated before, I used to post at the bigger forums and decided to quit. Too many douchebags and drama queens for me.

I just got my computer back today. Been down for a week. Someone or something fried my computer. I do not know if it was the person that was threatening me or not. As Louie stated he has a clue who might have sent email and he has told me. I really do not think it is him, Louie. He and I are pretty tight. Who knows.

Well, glad to have my computer back and online again. I really enjoy getting on the internet.

If you need me to get on a messenger service to help you setup the Anti Virus software along with the other software I suggested, let me know. I am pretty proficient with computers. I will be happy to help you get your computer's security set-up for you so that this doesn't happen again. I have some other suggestions for you so that you won't ever have any issues with security.

I have not received any emails. I have posted maybe a combined 30 posts at a couple other forums but like Oakas said, with all the drama that goes on with those places I have no interest in doing so. Also, this place is great and though most of us do not know each other personally the feeling around here is that we are all friends.
