N.Y. Yankees at Detroit Tigers 5/31/2003 12:05:00 PM
Today The Yankees will be sending Weaver to the mound. He hasn't pitched well of late. Rumors have it that he has to pitch well today or possibly lose his starting spot in the rotation. His last 3 games out he has faced Toronto, Boston, and Anaheim. All teams with pretty good offenses. He managed a poor 5.82 ERA against these teams. Detroit will be sending Bernero to the mound. He faced Chicago(AL), Cleveland, and Oakland. All teams that have had trouble scoring this year. Bernero had a 9.00 ERA against these 3 teams. The Yankees offense has started putting runs on the board of late and we look for this trend to continue today. Detroit has had trouble scoring all year. We look for them to put up a few runs, but we don't think a few will be enough in this spot. We know it is a lot of juice to lay but we recommend a play on the Yankees -230.
