Today we will be playing the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds to go UNDER the posted total of 9 runs. When I saw this line posted yesterday it really caught me by surprise. Considering how these 2 teams have been pitching great and hitting poorly as of late, and the starters in today's game I thought we would be looking at a total of 8 or 8.5.

Miguel Batista will start for Arizona today, and while his record is decent, it truly does not reflect on how good he has pitched this year. He comes into today with a record of 7-5 but his ERA is a solid 2.92. 13 of Batista's 20 starts this season have gone UNDER the posted total.

Bale will start for Cincinnati today. This will be his second start this year, and he enters today's game with a record of 0-0 with a 1.35 ERA. The one game Bale started this year he didn't give up a run and that game also went UNDER.

As for the hitting numbers, neither one of these teams is tearing the cover off the ball. Over their last 10 games the D-Backs are hitting .253 averaging 3.6 runs per and the Reds are hitting a miserable .225. averaging 2.8 runs per contest. It is so bad the Reds have actually been shut out in 3 of their last 4 games! With numbers like that it is no surprise that the UNDER is 6-1-3 for Cincinnati and 7-3 for Arizona in their last 10 games respectively.

I mentioned earlier about the bullpens being very good right now, and the numbers back that statement up. Over the last 10 games the Arizona ERA for their bullpen is a stellar 1.57 and Cincinnati bullpen has been almost as good over that span boasting an ERA of 2.31.

For the season the UNDER in Diamondback games is 40-17 on the year and over their last 21 games overall the UNDER has hit in 17 of those games. All in all we look for another low scoring output today.
