Must be nice to have $377.5M to spend in one morning...
... That's what the Angels did when they signed Pujols (10 yrs/$260M) and CJ Wilson (5 yrs/$77.5M).
I think that this makes this the most overrated team in baseball this year on one blush. If anyone thinks that this really makes the Angels the favorites in the AL, I'd be willing to challenge them big time on it.

Somebody was going to do it. It's not about what he does in 2021. If the Angels win one World Series in the next decade and Pujols has anything to do with it, he was worth the money. I'm still not sure that this is a playoff team when it's said and done, though, even with the added Wild Card.

Breaks down to $68,000 a day, incase you were wondering.
Makes Miggie look like a steal for a mere $150mil.

maybe 6 at the most True, but the Angels get the advantage of the DH spot, therefore, they can prolong his career. Look at Jim Thome, that guy is still hitting home runs and walking with a cane.

My math was bad... it's $327M, not $377M... even though I think once you reach the $300M mark, we're talking about a bunch of those funny orange $500 Monopoly money bills.
I have one client that I take care of in my day job in accounting who grosses over $10M per year, and I always joke with him that he's playing with Monopoly money. I can't even fathom this.

I would have to disagree about them not being a playoff team. There starting rotation has to be tops in the division easily. And putting Albert in any lineup makes it a the top of the division. Example St louis?? The Angels still have some nice players in that lineup and now add Pujols. I say they are considered the pick in that AL East. Even though Texas is still tough I see the missing playoffs in 2012.

Texas isn't done yet. Whether it gets Prince Fielder or this Japanese pitcher kid... The Rangers definitely aren't done. But say that they basically are.
I still think that a lineup featuring Napoli, Moreland, Kinsler, Andrus, Beltre, Cruz, Hamilton, and Young (not so sure what TEX is doing with that last outfield spot yet) is every bit as good as a lineup featuring Pujols, Kendrick, Aybar, Izturis, Abreu, Wells, and Hunter.
I'll give Anaheim the starting rotation edge now, though I'm not sure that Feliz, Ogando, Lewis, Holland, Harrison, and Feldman (don't know who the odd man out it) is that much worse than Weaver, Haren, Wilson, Santana, and fill in the blank at #5.
And the bullpen ain't even close. Sorry. Big time advantage to Texas, especially if Nathan turns out to be a legit closer when it's said and done again.
