WAC Saturday
UTAH ST. -13.5 vs San Jose St.............1*
UTAH ST.(17-6, 7-1WAC) will host SAN JOSE ST.(10-12, 2-7WAC). San Jose St. is coming off a loss @ Nevada by 38pts and now is traveling to play the top team in conference. In their last 2 road games San Jose St. has shot 32.3% and 30.4% from the field, and I don't expect much improvement in those numbers tonight as they face a good Utah St. team that plays solid D at home. Also Utah St. is shooting 52% from the floor @ home this season and averaging 76.5pts a game there. I think San Jose St. is a team that is fading very quickly and will continue to do so as they get blown out for a second straight game. LOUISIANA TECH -1.5 vs Idaho............2* LOUISIANA TECH(3-18, 0-9WAC) hosts IDAHO(5-16, 2-8WAC). Despite being winless in conference, they have been showing slight signs of improvement, playing @ Hawaii and nearly winning, showing some heart and coming back @ Fresno St. and making it a close game, and playing very tight w/ Boise St. for a good portion of their game. Idaho has lost 3 straight games, and they will be playing their 3rd straight road game in a week. Stats wise, these two teams are pretty similar, Idaho averages 55pts a game on the road, shoots 39.2% from the floor on the road, and gives up 73.1pts a game on the road. Louisiana Tech averages 59.5pts a game at home, shoots 38.3% from the floor at home, and give up 66pts a game at home. I Idaho will be worn down by all the traveling they've been doing and I think that will allow for Louisiana Tech to pull away late and come away w/ their first conference win. HAWAII +11.5 @ Nevada.........2* NEVADA(14-8, 6-3WAC) hosts HAWAII(10-11, 6-3WAC). Nevada is coming off a beat down against San Jose St. by 39pts on Thursday night. Hawaii is a team that has been improving lately and has had 7 days to prepare for this game. This two teams have already faced off once this season, and Nevada traveled to Hawaii and won 77-59. In that game 51% from the floor to Hawaii's 37.5%. I could see Nevada putting up similar numbers in this game, but I think Hawaii should be able to improve a lot from their poor shooting. Hawaii averages 45.8% shooting on the road this year and averages nearly 71pts a game on the road. In that game Hawaii also shot a miserable 3-21(14.3%) from 3pt range, on the season this team shoots 37.1% from 3 on the road. I think with their season averages being well up from where they shot against Nevada the first meeting and also having a full week to rest/travel/prepare for this game, Hawaii should be able to keep it much closer and cover the spread. no play in the Boise St./New Mexico St..........i leaned to Boise St, but w/ them playing 2 nights ago @Louisiana Tech, I worry that they may fatigue a bit from New Mexico St.'s tough press D. gl tonight fellas
