Fischer's 11/02 Picks
Hey all here's my picks for the weekend:
Vandy +15 @ Florida I love this play this weekend. After getting even more banged up, Florida couldn't do anything with the ground game. I like the match-up between Vandy's front 7 (with 2-3 NFL worthy plays) and Florida's Offensive Line. They should be able to get lots of pressure on Tebow and keep him off his rhythm. The Gators lack of a run game is killing them as opponents have found out how to slow down this offense. This is the best Vandy team to come out of Nashville in 25 years and they are playing on a mission to proves something. I like them to be very motivated vs. a Florida team still searching for its pride after the Cocktail Party last weekend.. Vandy has played well on the road and they have a great running game, something that will be important in keeping the Gator offense off the field. If Vandy wins this game, they are off to a bowl game for the first time in 25 years. I'll be taking the points here, with a very small play on the ML... Don't count on the crowd getting too jacked up for this game, they are playing at 12:30pm. 110 to win 100- Vandy +15 25 to win 150- ML +600 Marshall @ Central Florida -14 I'm going to roll with the nations 2nd leading rusher this weekend against one of the worst rush defenses in the country. Kevin Smith is a good runner and runs behind a solid offensive line. Marshall on the other hand, simply doesn't play defense. Look for Smith to get his 200+ yards of offense and for UCF to control the clock, keeping Marshall's offense off the field. 110 to win 100 Central Florida -14 More coming throughout the day....

Play 3
Clemson -17 @ Duke
The Blue Devils are 1-7 this season and have lost 22 straight ACC games. The public is huge on this game, and it makes sense because Clemson outmatches Blue Devils in every area of the field. Running backs James Davis and C.J. Spiller have combined for 1,086 rushing yards and 13 TDs this season. The team’s rush offense is tops in their conference. The Tigers’ pass offense is of pretty good too, QB Harper has thrown for a conference-best 21 touchdowns. There’s no way the Blue Devils can deal with that kind of power. Their defense ranks 102nd in the nation with 449.5 yards allowed per game. It is leaking 32.8 points per contest this season. Clemson wins big here on the road. 110 to win 100 Clemson -17

Play 4
Troy @ UGA -16
I like this play for UGA this week against a decent troy team. UGA is coming off its biggest win and everyone is pointing to a big letdown as the dawgs look ahead to Auburn next week. I disagree, from a number perspective, UGA outmatches Troy in every aspect of the field. Star QB Omar Haugabook, is out with a hammy injury and coach will not want to press him, keeping the biggest picture (Conference Title) in perspective. This from head coach... "It's a huge risk if he's not well," Troy coach Larry Blakeney told the Dothan Eagle. "That will all be determined by (head trainer) Chuck Ash and the doctors. It won't be just based on if Omar wants to play. We can't make stupid decisions. "I would say he's doubtful right now. He's doubtful to start and he's doubtful to play. Every day, his status can be upgraded." Without Haugebook, the Trojans will be relying on any number of underclassmen QB's, none of each will have faced an environment like that of Sanford Stadium on a Saturday. Many people have been pointing to the fact that Troy waxed Okey State and lost close games to Arkansas and Florida. The key stat in all of these games was the turnover margain, which Troy dominated. UGA does a great job protecting the ball and I have a feeling they will feast on a green QB, who will have to play from behind for the majority of the game. 1.5 units 165 to win 150

Fish:
Love your C. FLorida play. That is definitely going to be one of my plays. I think they pound Marshall at home, as they have against most everyone else in the conference at home. Be careful with that Clemson pick, I mean real careful. Yes, Clemson has much, much more talent then Duke, but go back and look what Clemson has done on the road in the past 5 years against the mediocrity of the ACC, it is astounding. Specifically against Duke. I dont beleive they have covered at Duke since the early 90s. I dont know what it is, but Clemson always seems to lay an egg against the Dukes and Wake Forests of the ACC over the past decade or so. Tommy Bowdon's M.O.: lose most of the games you are suppose to lose, lose a game each year that aren't suppose to lose, and win one big game that keeps you in a job. This happens every stinking year, like clock work! JMHO. |

Really like your card "m" except for the UGA play. Strong leans on Clemson and Vandy, but for some reason, CFlo seems too easy of a pick for me.
Goodluck on your plays man. Last edited by wolverine; 11-02-2007 at 05:06 PM. |
