Public Service Announcement Regarding Posted Plays/Wager Amounts

Seems to be some controversy over people posting certain amounts and certain records of their plays. The best response I can give from a moderator standpoint is that there isn't too much me/minnow/biggz can do to prove/disprove what people's records really are and whether the amount of money they're posting is what they're really betting. I'm not saying the rest of you guys are expecting us to keep this under control but theres not too much we can do.

The best suggestion I have is to ignore people you believe are doing this and just don't coattail their plays. If someone is posting amounts/records that you believe are false then just try not to follow them or give them any attention. The main reason someone would do this (post fake amounts/records) is because they like to get an ego trip out of being seen as "a big winner" or having a better record than everyone else.

Now am I saying that we shouldn't be civil and congratulate people on their plays when they do well? OF COURSE NOT! Thats why I love our community so much. For the most part we have alot of guys here with alot of integrity and self respect for what we do and they just enjoy seeing what everyone else likes, they like posting what they like, they like sharing information and they like giving out high fives to someone after they do well. Thats the kind of community we're trying to build here. If you feel that someone isn't living up to this by posting fake amounts or records please do you best to just ignore them.

Thank you and enjoy the forum!

I've always found it pretty silly to post a topic with a false amount that you're betting. It's stupid. If you're betting a couple hundred bucks, don't say you're betting a couple thousand. By the way, how's the NFL season treating you so far, CG?

lol well not as big as I would have liked thats forsure. I started off up a little bit, then in week 2 lost a 330 dollar teaser and have been recovering since then. Won a couple hundred last weekend so right now I"m down 60 bucks or something. I don't know this season hasn't been that easy so far and this week is definetly no easier. I hope to pick it up though and hopefully be up near a grand by week 10 but we'll see how it goes, I don't want to force anything.

The other thing is that right now I'm afraid to chase a loss. So say I would have won that 300 teaser in week 2, I had a good feeling about the sunday nighter and the monday nighter that week and if I would have let the money ride (maybe not all the money but some) on those games I would have won both.....but after losing a play like that during the day on Sunday I just like to call it a week. So I'm just waiting for a week where I have a good Sunday afternoon and then I can let the wins keep rolling into Sunday and Monday night. So I'm hoping the next time I have a good Sunday afternoon I can turn it into a 500 dollar week by letting the sunday money ride on monday night and win.

Id advise checking peoples profile to see if they posted the picks before the games. If they havent done so then what that say cant be proven. Also I dont post how much I bet per game, all I will say is that i bet the same amount per game or pick each time. I really dont care what others bet. But if someone post plays that win alot, then yes that is a good thing. Cause we all love winners right!!!

Money, I respect your decision not to post how much you bet, but don't be intimidated by people who are betting "thousands" (or claim to be). I started off betting 10 bucks a game, and honestly if your bankroll is 100 bucks and you bet 10 per game or your BR is 1000 and you bet 100 on a game you get the same rush, because its all gambling.

CG you could not have stated gambling any better than this. It is the rush you get from having a little something riding on the game. You analyze every little thing that happens on the field. It is the same reason my grandma goes to bingo every day and twice on sunday. It is the reason people spend billions of dollars on the pick 6 lotto. All for that feeling of euphoria when we scratch off the ticket telling us we've got another shot because we hit the "free ticket".
But seriously, what you are saying about bankroll is the most important idea being communicated. I've learned that staying within my means and living to bet again is what this is all about. Too many times guys lose their shirts trying to win it all back in one big roll of the dice only to lose it all and have nothing to show for it. Money management is key, no matter what the size of the bankroll.

AHMEN CG & ALL

Who does it help to post lies. It just makes that person look the fool and no one would listen to them in the future.

Like my Mother says. "When you tell the 1st lie. Then you have to make up 10 more lies to cover the 1st one."
