Week 3 is over and one of the most intriguing developments is the fact the Kansas City Chiefs are 0-3. Just 3 short weeks ago this team, local and national media proclaimed this team a legitimate Super Bowl contender. The Chiefs held the game in their hands several times in the second half and failed to put the Texans away allowing them to stay close enough to win the game in the last 2 seconds.

Most glaring has been the fact that KC has been outscored 34-7 and 10-7 by the Texans in the fourth quarter. I believe this shows the overwhelming lack of confidence that the entire team possesses right now. Sure they all said the right things in the locker room interviews and Vermiel used war analogies.We've dug ourselves a big foxhole, coach Dick Vermeil said. The great thing about this organization is when we dig a foxhole, we dig it big enough for everybody to get in. Does that imply that there will be opponents coming up to shovel dirt and diapers into the fox hole?

As I mentioned in last week that KC has far too many problems to fix quickly and it showed Sunday in the 3* winning play with Houston. My Artificial intelligence Simulator had a 1* graded play on Houston and also a 3* MAJOR total play UNDER - both of which cashed.

BALTIMORE is 13-2 ATS (+10.8 Units) versus poor defensive teams - allowing >=5.65 yards/play since 1992. BALTIMORE is 18-4 ATS (+13.6 Units) versus poor rushing defenses - allowing >=130 rushing yards/game since 1992. KANSAS CITY is 1-5 ATS (-4.5 Units) in road games after a loss by 3 or less points since 1992. KC is just 6-24 ATS when they allow 175 or more rushing yards since 1992 and the AiS projects a 62% probability that Baltimore will gain 175 or more rushing yards.

Pointwise's highest rating is *1. The lower the number the higher the play. This weeks sheet had the Baltimore rated a 2* projecting a score of Baltimore 31 Kansas City 20

The Gold Sheet projected a score of Baltimore 24 Kansas City 17

Here's their write-up,

K.C's defensive woes now spilling over to offense, with production down due to WR woes. But Baltimore (WR T. Taylor, TE Heap both out for a while) not about to be sympathetic. Moreover, Ravens- with huge OL and two eager backups (Chester Taylor & Musa Smith) for Jamal Lewis- ready to pound away at Chiefs front seven. Baltimore 19-8-3 as home favorite under Billick, with opposing players saying Ravens' new stadium might now be the toughest venue to visit in NFL.


Gold Sheet Friday Update,

K.C. still hurting at WR, with Eddie Kennison (hamstring), Dante Hall, (shoulder) and Samie Parker (hamstring) all questionable. Raven starting NT Kelly Gregg (knee; out the last two games) is expected to return, at least to limited duty. Several Baltimore players have said they are quite excited about the team's first apperance on Monday Night Football in two years.

Kansas City +6 over Baltimore
The Chiefs are 0-3 this season and they also have yet to cover a game. Baltimore is 2-1 and like in years past are successful because of their defense. Kyle Boller has yet to get anything done for the Ravens and the Kansas City has yet to stop teams on defense. This game will feature a lot of running between the leagues top running backs in Priest Holmes and Jamaal Lewis. Lewis may be a bit distracted this week with his court appearances and knowing that he will be most likely facing some jail time for drug charges. The real key in this game is going to be how long the Ravens defense can go containing Holmes and QB Trent Green. Baltimore's offense will be without Travis Taylor and Todd Heap which will put them at an even further disadvantage. Kansas City is now desperate for a win and what better way to get one on Monday Night. Baltimore might squeak by, but six points should be enough for the Chiefs to get us a cover.
