This couldn't be the furthest from the truth (and the writer most likely trying to swing votes)....

First of all, you need legislation to pass through congress in order for a law to be passed. With a democratic controlled congress, further legislation to outlaw online gambling probably won't even get to the president's desk. If John McCain becomes president, he can't do this without the backing of congress. However, banning and outlawing online gambling is on the RNC's platform. They removed the anti-online gambling language from their platform a few months ago and then put it back on one day later (after getting pressure from lobbyists)

Barrack Obama has never publicly stated that he supports the legalization of online gambling. That's because he is not sure if it will help or hurt him with votes (same goes for McCain). If there is any chance at all that this guy will support the legalization of online gambling, it's a very slim one. When push comes to shove, this guy will probably stand behind the same bureaucrats Washington insiders that the rest of Washington does. Some people think that because he enjoys playing Poker that he is going to push online poker legislation, fat chance. If he gets elected, he will try to create a Clinton-like regime and will be running again for 2012 as soon as he takes office...you'll see...

Anyone who says that either of these guys will legalize or outlaw online gambling has another agenda entirely. I am not saying this to try and sway you guys to vote for McCain or Obama...I don't think we will see any new online gambling legislation within the next four years whether McCain or Obama wins this election.

If you want to support the legalization of online gambling, vote for Barr and Root on the Libertarian ticket...That is the only ticket where you will have a 50/50 chance of the legalization of online gambling...Too bad they don't have a 50/50 shot of winning, lol. My advice; Don't let the issue of online gambling influence your vote if you are going to vote for Obama or McCain. Neither of these guys care about it.

By the way, I am a registered republican and I am thinking of switching to Libertarian. I already voted early for McCain as the lesser of two evils. Whether I made the right choice or not is yet to be determined. I wish the Republicans and the democrats would both wake up. I hate the hypocrisy with both parties and I am not a big fan of either candidate.

The Republicans say they are for free trade with little-to-no government control or interference. Funny, I thought that's exactly what online gambling was, and any other online business for that matter.

I also despise the socialist ideas of the democrats and whether Obama says that he is going to lower taxes for the middle class or not, he is going to raise them and implement hundreds of new welfare programs where the poor (people who don't pay taxes) are going to benefit. He and his democratic controlled congress are also going to socialize medicine and govern from the left.

Louie and I had a talk about this in the chat room a couple weeks back and there's nothing I can say in relation to the election and online sports betting that he hasn't already said. Realistically, there's not going to be any significant changes in online sports betting any time soon, unfortunate but true. I'm just ready for this election to be over really, MSNBC has been on TV at work for a month straight and I'm pretty sure everyone already knows who they are going to vote for. The election is like the olympics. Every four years it is non stop for a couple weeks, then we spend four years critiquing it until we get to do it all over again.

I did, however, get Obama at -115 in September. Think its in the "Everything Else" post somewhere...

As an FYI: Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel who is President Elect, Barrack Obama's first choice as his White House Chief of Staff voted FOR "HR 4411" which is Rep. Bob Goodlatte's online gaming prohibition bill. Obama isn't going to do thing to legalize online gambling. I will be pleasently suprised if he does.

Friends I do believe that Gambling, betting and prostitution these things came with the human civilization and you cant detach it from human being. One thing which you can do is give this industry a perfect and legalised shape so that government can generate more revenue and have control over it.

Gambling, Betting, and Prostitution? Aren't gambling and betting the same thing? Where did prostitution come into the discussion. It's a lot easier to outlaw and enforce laws against prostitution then Internet gambling.
