Week 3 NFL Picks: Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens
Date: Sunday, September 22nd, 1:00 ET
Location: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
NFL Betting Odds: Houston -1 (44.5)
Texans @ Ravens On TV: CBS

Last season in October, the Texans really hit their stride, capped by beating the snot out of the Ravens 43-13. This year, they are still trying to get a little bit of footing after falling behind both the San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans by large margins in the second half. However, we think that this is a team that is just starting to get into the swing of things, and when luck largely corrects itself, look out! This defense doesn’t have the best statistical numbers in the world this year, but we have to remember that one touchdown was directly given to the Titans and one was essentially just handed to the Titans as well. The team still ranks fifth in the league in total defense, and it has six sacks and a safety to show for its work. In both games, the defense forced at least five straight drives without a first down, a truly remarkable accomplishment.

On top of that, the Texans have left a lot of points on the board as well, as K Randy Bullock has four misses on the campaign against just one make. Baltimore has really looked awful on both sides of the ball in both of these games. The team might not have RB Ray Rice for this one, and it might not have much of a hope regardless of trying to move the football through the air without both TE Dennis Pitta and WR Jacoby Jones. Unless WR Torrey Smith is going to be making some huge plays – something that we know is at least possible against a Houston secondary that has had its holes at times – this game might not be all that close when push comes to shove.

Texans @ Ravens Pick: Houston Texans -1.5
Texans @ Ravens Score Prediction: Texans 28 – Ravens 13
