Sunday NFL Football Analysis: The Dallas Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional round from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Dallas advanced to Sunday’s divisional game with a come from behind victory over the Detroit Lions. The Cowboys overcame a 14-0 first quarter deficit and made quite a few defensive stops in the second half to get the win. Dallas’ focal point on offense is their stout offensive line, who has led the way for Demarco Murray to have an MVP caliber season with 1845 yards rushing. Wide Receiver Dez Bryant has also benefited from the offensive line giving Tony Romo plenty of time. Bryant has 1320 receiving yards with 16 touchdowns, quite possibly his finest season as a pro. Quarterback Tony Romo has had a fine season with 3702 yards with 34 touchdowns and a 113.2 QBR.
Due to a slip-up in week 15, a loss on the road at Buffalo, the Green Bay Packers lost their chance at a 13-3 record and a #1 seed in the NFC. Green Bay still grabbed the #2 seed and I’m sure used the week off to get healthy. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers injured his calf in the final regular season game. He was out for a short period of time, yet returned to lead the Packers to a 30-20 victory over Detroit. Green Bay led the NFL in scoring this season, averaging 30.3 points per game. Their offense is loaded, behind MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers. The leading receiver is Jordy Nelson, who amassed 1519 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. You also have to worry about Randall Cobb, with 1287 yards and 12 touchdowns. Eddie Lacy leads the way out of the backfield with 1139 yards and 9 touchdowns.
I’m recommending grabbing the points with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. While the Cowboys struggled last weekend, they still won and they have a ton of momentum winning 5 straight games. Aaron Rodgers’ calf injury is another concern, and he hasn’t practiced in about 10 days. The continuity of the offense has to be concerning for the Packers. The Packers defense has great pass rushers, but their run defense hasn’t been all that great this season, ranking 23rd in the league allowing about 118 yards rushing per game. I can expect Dallas to grind it out and try to control the clock and keep the Packers offense off the field. I would expect Dallas defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli to throw a lot of blitzes and make Rodgers uncomfortable. Green bay is a talented team without a doubt, but I’m grabbing the points with the team that has more momentum, the healthier quarterback, and is 8-0 on the road this season.
