NFL Week 6 Service Plays
The Giants' offense began to click last week and I think that carries over on a short week against a banged-up Eagles defense. On the other side, Carson Wentz should dissect a New York defense that's given up 66 points the past two weeks. Go Over.
No doubt, Denver reeked in a one-sided loss Sunday to the Jets, but cut the Broncos some slack. They played at home on Monday night, then across the country six days later. They are 2-1 outright in their ballpark, the lone setback happening to unbeaten Kansas City. L.A.’s high-powered offense will be crippled if WRs Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp do not exit concussion protocol. Then there is the weather forecast: freezing temperatures with snow flurries. Hardly ideal for the visitors from sun-splashed Southern California.
KANSAS CITY +3.5
KANSAS CITY @ NEW ENGLAND | 10/14 | 8:20 PM EDT
So, one team is undefeated straight-up, already with road wins against the L.A. Chargers, Pittsburgh and Denver -- yet it is on the receiving end of a field-goal plus. Say no more. Except this: QB Patrick Mahomes and pals have sliced through defenses equal to or better than New England’s. A pair of wins at home appears to have left the public head-over-heels with the Patriots, a common occurrence. Until the Chiefs falter, take the points.
L.A. CHARGERS -1
L.A. CHARGERS @ CLEVELAND | 10/14 | 1:00 PM EDT
After avoiding Cleveland for eons, the public seems to be making up for lost time and flocking to the Browns. How else to explain this skinny point spread with teams on different planes? L.A. ranks nine spots ahead of Cleveland in yards gained per game and a dozen better for yards allowed. The Browns struggle to put forth strong offensive and defensive efforts on the same day, as indicated by their last two scores: 45-42 and 12-9, the latter going nearly five quarters. The Chargers are accustomed to a hostile crowd. After all, they often confront one at home games.
