Below are the current odds to win the World Series for the upcoming 2017 MLB baseball season. You’ll find the current futures odds from two of our favorite online sportsbooks. We chose these two books due to the vast differences in World Series futures odds. You’ll also find my World Series picks (basically value bets) for the 2017 season. Finally, be sure to Bookmark this page and check back often as we will be updating it throughout the season.
Note: You can skip this analysis & just scroll down for the list of World Series odds. With Spring training around the corner, it’s a good time to look into the odds to win the 2017 World Series. Oddsmakers are currently forecasting a repeat Champion in 2017. The Chicago Cubs (4-1 at 5Dimes) are the favorite virtually everywhere. Most books currently have the Boston Red Sox (5 to 1 @ GT Bets) second on their odds to win the World Series. Some other teams that are high on most books’ pre-season MLB futures list include; reigning ALCS Champion Cleveland Indians (7 to 1 @ GT Bets); the always NL West dominating Los Angeles Dodgers (11 to 1 @ 5Dimes).
As for some value picks to bet on, two additional MLB squads that I believe offer some decent value include:
Baltimore Orioles (40 to 1 @ GT Bets) – In winning 89 game last season, the Orioles were very close to winning the AL East. Had Baltimore won the single-elimination wildcard game, nobody would have wanted to face them in a series. Their bats make them just as likely as any team in the AL East to make a playoff run. The AL East division competition is the sole reason you’ll find them 30-1 or higher.
Detroit Tigers (40 to 1 @ GT Bets) – The Tigers won 86 games last season. They were very much in the playoff race all season. It’s not unlikely that Cleveland could suffer a World Series hangover. Cabrera and the Tigers are as likely as any team to be chasing down the AL Central pennant next year.
I think two small plays both the Orioles & Tigers (at 40 to 1 or higher) are two very good bets at bargain prices. If just one of them ends up winning their division, you’ll see those odds drop tremendously and hedging opportunities will arise.
