Is there a point that the oddsmakers just flat out have a game wrong? That’s what we think is happening on Thursday, as the Braves and the Dodgers both know that they have a lot of work to do against great pitchers just to score runs. LHP Clayton Kershaw is fantastic. His stats were tremendous this year, as he posted a 1.83 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and 232 strikeouts in 236 innings of work. He was a horse all year, and it was rare that he left his team in a bad spot while he was on the mound. That said, this is also a man that had a losing record for MLB betting fans, costing them over $500 in his starts on the year. The bottom line is that Kershaw is consistently overrated on the MLB odds, and Thursday night is no exception for that.

It’s tough to remember, but RHP Kris Medlen is a super stud. Most remember that he was beaten in the NL Wild Card game last year against the Cardinals, but it’s not like he pitched a ridiculously poor game and had the team dead in the water before anyone else could save the day. The Braves were in that game a good chunk of the way. Alas, Medlen also only went 15-12 this year, but his ERA came down to 3.11 when he killed it in his last six starts of the year. His ERA in those efforts was under 1.00, and the team won five of the six games in spite of the fact that three runs or fewer were scored in five of the six as well. The Braves won 56 games this year at home, and it wasn’t a mistake. They’re the better team, especially with OF Matt Kemp and OF Andre Ethier out of the lineup, and they are going to show it on Thursday and throughout this series.

Dodgers @ Braves Pick: Atlanta Braves +140
Dodgers @ Braves Score Prediction: Braves 3 – Dodgers 1
