The NLDS gets started on Saturday afternoon, as both of the road teams try to immediately flip home field advantage in their respective series. Our Arizona Diamondbacks @ Milwaukee Brewers Game 1 picks and our St. Louis Cardinals @ Philadelphia Phillies Game 1 picks are ready and raring to go!
MLB Predictions: Arizona Diamondbacks @ Milwaukee Brewers
Date: Saturday, October 1st, 2:07 ET
Location: Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI
MLB Playoffs Odds: Milwaukee -140, Over/Under 7 (over -105)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: TBS
We have a fantastic pitching matchup on our hands on Saturday afternoon in beer country, but there is definitely a brutal difference between these two teams. Ian Kennedy is really all that the D’Backs have to offer, and if they lose Game 1 of this series, he may not get a chance to come back to pitch again, knowing how strong the Brewers are at home. Yovani Gallardo is going to be on the mound in this one, but he isn’t even the best pitcher on this staff. Wait until Zack Greinke takes the mound in Game 3… We just don’t think that Arizona has the horses in what amounts to be the first playoff action that most of this team has ever seen to come into Miller Park and take a Game 1, even with a 21 game winner on the bump. Arizona Diamondbacks @ Milwaukee Brewers Game 1 Predictions: Milwaukee Brewers -140
MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Philadelphia Phillies
Date: Saturday, October 1st, 5:07 ET
Location: Citizens Bank Ballpark, Philadelphia, PA
MLB Playoffs Odds: Philadelphia -215, Over/Under 7 (over -115)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: TBS
Though we do think that the Phillies are winning this series, we are probably going to do a lot of investing in the Cardinals over the course of the next five games. The truth of the matter is that the Phils are the best team in baseball, and they’ll probably end up winning the World Series, but when push comes to shove, we don’t think they’ll have a winning record on the MLB betting lines. Roy Halladay can’t possibly do any better in this game than he did in the first playoff game for the Phils last year when he pitched a no hitter. Jamie Garcia is only a No. 3 pitcher going against the ace of a staff full of aces, but he is definitely a serviceable arm to use. Albert Pujols and this offense have some real potential, and as a result, we’re going to take our chances on the run line at a nice price in hopes that the Redbirds can at least keep this one close. St. Louis Cardinals @ Philadelphia Phillies Game 1 Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals +1.5 +105
