We know that the Brewers have won 47 of their last 60 home games and that they are 4-1 in the postseason at Miller Park, but there is something about the rest of this series that just rubs us the wrong way. We tend to think that the Cardinals have the advantage on the mound in both of these games in this mini-series in Milwaukee. If we were managing the Brewers, we’d skip Shaun Marcum in the rotation and go with Yovani Gallardo on short rest instead. Alas, that’s not what Milwaukee has elected to do, though we know that Marcum will have a short hook. He has arguably been the worst starting pitcher in the entire playoffs regardless of team, and he has been blasted for two losses already. Parlay all of that together with the fact that Edwin Jackson just continues to win games (the Cards are 10-4 in Jackson’s 14 starts since trading for him) and that the Redbirds have scored 6.0 runs per game in this series, and the choice is starting to become painfully clear to us. Though the Brewers have to be happy to know that their next four games, if there are four games, are all going to be played at Miller Park, we can’t underestimate the power of the Cardinals right now and their magical run. No one figured a few months ago that they would even be factors to get into the playoffs. Now, they’re going to be advancing to the World Series.
