We have to take all of the emotion out of this game on Thursday afternoon. We are very, very aware that this series is over with at this point, as it’s clear that the Rangers aren’t going to be losing three straight games. And, it might even be clear as day that Texas truly has the best team left standing in the playoffs and might have had the most complete team in baseball. However, we still have to be realistic. Justin Verlander is the real deal. The man really has only had one start of any length in these playoffs, that being Game 3 against the New York Yankees in which he struggled, but was good enough to get the win against CC Sabathia. We have to have confidence that the Tigers, in an obvious do or die situation, can scratch a couple runs off of CJ Wilson. Verlander should do the rest of the work in a game in which he is probably being told that he is pitching until his arm falls off or until the game is over, whichever comes first. What we do know is that we wouldn’t trust Jose Valverde to come in and pitch after really falling apart in that second inning in relief on Wednesday night. The man has a tired arm after trying to finish five innings, some of which have been absolutely grueling, in just three days with no rest. Detroit Tigers @ Texas Rangers Game 2 Predictions: Detroit Tigers -150

MLB Predictions: St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers
Date: Thursday, October 13th, 8:05 ET

MLB Playoffs Odds: St. Louis -125, Over/Under 8.5 (o+105)
MLB Playoffs TV Schedule: TBS

In Game 2 of the NLCS, we were spot on when we suggested that it was a great chance for the Redbirds to steal a victory at Miller Park with a very questionable pitcher on the mound in Shaun Marcum. It was the first time that the Brewers lost a home game in these playoffs. Now, we think that the shoe is completely on the other foot. Milwaukee is now 0-3 on the road in the postseason, but now, it gets to take its shots at Kyle Lohse, arguably the worst pitcher that Manager Tony LaRussa will trot out there in this series. Lohse hasn’t pitched since Game 1 of the ALDS, a game in which he was tattooed for six runs in just 5.1 innings of work. There’s a reason that he was pushed back nearly two full weeks between starts, and he is really only being used out of necessity. We don’t think that highly of Randy Wolf either on the other side of the mound, but Wolf is a pro’s pro, and we tend to think that he’ll get the job done and post a victory for his team to ensure that this series will come back to Miller Park for Games 6 and potentially 7. St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers Game 2 Predictions: Milwaukee Brewers +110
