MLB Lines & Probable Starting Pitchers
Baltimore Orioles (Chris Tillman) +126
Boston Red Sox (John Lackey) -130
Total: 8.5

Four straight games in this series between the Red Sox and the Orioles have failed to reach the ‘total’, and we have a good feeling that that is going to be the case once again in this one on Thursday night. Neither RHP John Lackey nor RHP Chris Tillman has been all that great lately, but when you look at their whole bodies of work, you have to be impressed. Tillman is 16-6 on the year with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP, while Lackey is 9-12 with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. The truth of the matter is that Tillman has probably deserved a little worse, while Lackey has probably deserved a little better. Here’s the stat that cannot be ignored, though. Over the course of the 27 games that he has pitched in this season, Lackey has helped ‘under’ bettors to a ridiculous 21-5-1 mark on the season. ‘Under’ backers are 18-9-3 in Tillman’s starts as well, and though the Red Sox are tearing the cover off of the baseball, both of these teams are trending towards the ‘under’ right now as well. We have a tough time believing that this one has more than perhaps seven runs in it.

Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox Pick: Under 8.5
Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox Score Prediction: Red Sox 4 – Orioles 3
