If trouble is what the Tigers were after, they’ve surely found it. They’ve had two games in the last three weeks in which they have scored more than three runs, and it is almost a miracle that they are in this situation. Things could be a heck of a lot worse than down 2-1 to the Sox, but the truth of the matter is that this series might be as good as over. Runs that are being scored by Detroit almost feel like blessings, and it is only a matter of time until someone for Boston delivers the deathblow when push comes to shove. RHP Doug Fister really needs to be a shutdown pitcher in this game, but we don’t think that he really has the ability to do that. He threw six respectable innings in Game 4 against the Oakland Athletics in the ALDS last round, but he was outpitched in the game and probably shouldn’t have led his team to victory. That was one of the few with an offensive outburst in it. Meanwhile, Boston is delivering all of the clutch hits up and down the lineup, and RHP Jake Peavy is hoping to pitch as well as he did at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays last week in the ALDS. Peavy didn’t quite make it through six innings, but he did only allow one run, and he put his team in a position to use its dominating bullpen to shut things down. The Red Sox have been doing it in every facet of the game, and in spite of the fact that runs aren’t being scored all that often, it isn’t making a difference. Somehow, some way, this is going to be enough for sure.

Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers Pick: Boston Red Sox +117
Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers Score Prediction: Red Sox 3 – Tigers 1
