The 2012 MLB playoffs continue on Tuesday in Cincinnati, where the Cincinnati Reds and the San Francisco Giants are going to do battle with one another. Don’t miss our MLB playoff picks and our Giants vs. Reds Game 3 NLDS predictions for the baseball playoffs!

There’s only one shot left for the Giants to save their season, and that chance comes on Tuesday night at the Great American Ballpark. Manager Bruce Bochy would probably have liked a better starting pitching matchup to work with, but he has to work with whatever he has. At this point, that means a matchup of Ryan Vogelsong against Homer Bailey. Vogelsong did have a great year this year at 14-9, but he might be outmatched by Bailey, who is one of the hottest pitchers in the game at the moment. Bailey is coming off of a no hitter and four shutout innings in his final two outings of the regular season, and he is ready to go for this one as well.

The question that we have in this one is whether the San Francisco bats are ever going to wake up. The Giants have been manhandled and have scored a total of just two runs over the course of the first two games of this series. They’re going to need more than that in this one against a Cincinnati offense that just went off for nine runs two nights ago in Game 2.

Vogelsong might be able to let the Giants hang for a little bit on Tuesday, but the truth of the matter is that they are outclassed by a better team. Cincinnati should be a -160 favorite or so in this one, and it clearly just isn’t that. The Reds will figure out how to get to the NLCS and get some time for that stout bullpen to calm down with a resounding Game 3 victory to sweep away the G-Men.

San Francisco Giants @ Cincinnati Reds Pick: Cincinnati -142
