On Thursday, there are a handful of games on the basketball television schedule that we have circled that should be good ones. Check out our NBA picks for Thursday!
NBA Matchup: Dallas Mavericks @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Date: Thursday, December 29th, 8:00 ET
Location: Ford Center, Oklahoma City, OK
NBA TV Schedule: TNT
The sky isn’t falling yet for the Mavericks, and we tend to think that they will come up with a good game after a day off here in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are fantastic, but we are very afraid that Russell Westbrook is going to blow up at some point due to the 6.0 turnovers per game that he is averaging at the outset of the year. Aside from Kevin Durant, no one is really shooting the ball all that well for the Thunder, and we think that it all could come back to bite them on Thursday night. Dallas is 0-2 SU and ATS and hasn’t come up with a good game yet this year, but there is no way that it should be getting a touchdown on the NBA betting lines under really much of any circumstance.
NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks
NBA Matchup: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers
Date: Thursday, December 29th, 10:30 ET
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
NBA TV Schedule: TNT
The Lakers are still looking like a team that is a shell of their old selves. We just don’t see it in Tinseltown this year (that is, unless you’re looking at the city through red and blue colored glasses). Kobe Bryant is putting up his points, accounting for almost 28 per night, but it really seems as though if he doesn’t reach 40 or more, the Lakers just have no chance of scoring 100. Can you believe that a team that averaged 105 points per game two years ago has now had eight straight games at 98 points or fewer dating back to the postseason last year? It truly is amazing. The Knicks proved that they can play in spurts on Christmas with their narrow win against the Boston Celtics, but they also proved that they can lay a total egg last night when they took on the Golden State Warriors and got blown out of the water. New York was clearly looking forward to this game when it stepped on the court last night. As short underdogs, we’ll back the Knicks to bounce back and at least make Kobe and the gang sweat.
NBA Pick: New York Knicks
